Hello to you! Hope you enjoyed the video. If you´re interested in anything you saw in the video (even Johannes for the right price) you can get it here 😀: bit.ly/47CrPnG
I have to say how much I appreciate Johnathan's use of crunchy riffs in these videos. It seems like every disc golf video uses like smooth bossa nova music, which is cool, but sometimes you just need those crispy flakes.
How the hell do you guys always find the best possible way to explain something so technical and make it so fun? I’ve never understood uphill shots and why they never work, OMG thank you for this video!
Thanks Jonathan for an awesome video once again! Gotta say this video couldn't have come at a better time, currently battling covid and feeling pretty sad ngl. Yours and Johannes shenanigans never fail to bring a smile to me, and you guys managed to make my day (once again! :D). Thanks for the "pick me up" and keep killing the youtube disc golf game! :) Hälsningar från grannlandet :D

EXTREME!!!! thanks for the laughs... this winter I am falling back in love with my fuse, it is an excellent hyzerflip turn over disc! Thank you for putting the flight trace line, it is a game changer and all channels should be doing it!
@@Latitude64 never! 🤭❤️ Okay maybe I won't fill up your notification bar. Let's hope for an early spring this year so we can avoid those uphills sometime soon 😁
Another point for throwing up hill: if the hill is very steep you can end in a situation where you have terrible footing. So in some cases stand still is mandatory and that should also affect the disc selection. Another shot I've had success with is a forehand roller, given the terrain calls for it of course.
Jonathan, I can't say enough great things about your videos. I have a LOT to learn, but watching your videos gives me the encouragement to get out and keep trying. I love watching your progress mixed with humility and great humor. Thanks for all that you're doing and keep up the great work! You've also inspired me to pick up several Lat 64 discs lately and I'm loving them!
Great video guys, don't forget to mention the effect of gravity in these situations. throwing uphill against gravity will slow the disc more, throwing downhill gravity might actually accelerate the disc causing it to appear understable
There was definitely plenty of room in this video for more explanation of the physics that causes disks to behave more or less stable at different terrain angles.
@@brentkelly9864 So at least part of the reason for increased or decreased stability is because of the increase or decrease of the speed of the disc because of gravity?
@@Latitude64 took me few tries to pause at the right moment but let me say 0,25x speed was a big helper. :D But the sounds....THE SOOOOUNDS!!!! 😨😀 BTW: those metal samples for titles, are you buying them or do you make them yourself? they cool! 🖤
@2:11, @6:15 - thanks for not leaving those out. Good for us mere mortals to know we're not the only ones who do that. Sincerely ... your friendly neighborhood tree smoker.
Hey :) made a shorter one the other day. We actually moved offices so there's been some stuff that had to be done with that. But there's videos coming for sure 😀 /Jonathan
The one thing that stands out to me to question is that when throwing uphill, you 'hopefully' are keeping the nose angle down. The disc (and your hands) path is still a straight line with the nose of the disc angled down relative to that path. The path just starts at a lower point and ends higher. If you get the nose up relative to that pull path, you'll get a floating and stalling flight rather than a drilling fast flight, but going uphill.
In fact, one video I watched said that to get the nose down, start lower on your backswing. I have a very short hole that is down hill with a low ceiling. On this hole I start high on my backswing and try to "air skip" the disc under the branches. The high backswing gets the nose up.
Love it. I do feel like you needed to mention the whole part of your footwork and timing is going to be way off. If your run/walk up is up hill your plant foot is going to hit the ground earlier then your use to and your throw will want to come out early and opposite for downhill.
Was that a sewage pond that you threw into....? Donated disc I'm guessing. As always it is fun to see you and Johannes together. It looks like you have a blast making these videos. I can tell you that it's a blast watching them and bonus! I learned something too. Thanks guys.
My home course has a lot of uphill shots with tree lines on the sides, so you really have to be able to land in a small area on the hill or at the top of the hill. I've found myself reaching for something stable or even slightly overstable (buzzz or roc3) but throwing it very hard on anhyzer. It fights out of the anhyzer by the time it crests the hill and lands fairly flat. Not ideal for uphill distance, but seems better for uphill precision.
Because of you guys making these videos my first purchase of discs was Latitude 64• and then and now I just bought some west side discs! What I’m trying to say is I love the “Trilogy” of these companies and of course my love for Sweden! That town in the EXTREME hill scene looks like the Swedish Scranton Pennsylvania🤣😂🤣! Anyway keep up the amazing work, from East Los Angeles with love!
When throwing up hill I always remember Paul McBeth's advice on footing which is basically to come into your walk up at a steeper angle then the normal straight line to help keep your body alignment. Seems to work out for me on most throws.
@@davelopez9161 instead of coming in straight behind the disc, come in from an angle. That way, the approach isn't so up and down. It makes footing, and the approach, much easier.

Hi Team Jonathan64 :) You make videos with a very nice vibe. These are all exactly what discgolf friends feel, talk about and share with each other. Helping each other with juicy humor and celebrating in heart but showing off bitter when someone is doing something great :P You are very welcome to visit our Estonian parks :) ok but now for the important thing - I also make videos on my YT channel just to learn new parks etc. I noticed you are using a drone. Have you tried to chase a disc with a drone during a throw? Can its "follow the object" function automatically respond to the rapid movement of a disk, or does someone always have to operate the drone manually to follow the drive from some distance. How does it behave in the forest? You are doing the right thing and I wish you happy moments in discgolf and everyday activities! Big up :)

Awesome video guys! However I *really* don't agree with throwing faster discs uphill simply because it "plays longer" yet I see great players on video doing it all the time (especially at DGLO on the Toboggan course), there are certainly times when smashing the fastest disc you have is appropriate and depending on the wind and whatever else you have to deal with other than the hillside it might be the right choice but if you have an uphill tunnelshot I prefer a disc I can rely on to land flat so depending on the slope I go either gobi or fuse (I did have a patrol for uphill hyzerflips a few years ago but I gave it away to help promote our sport, more people need to know about it... especially those that do yoga or have picnics right next to a basket).
Agreed, the common advice for uphill (especially when walk-ups/run-ups aren't doable) is to go for slower US discs to be better able to get the discs up to speed.

Something you didn't mention about throwing downhill.. Just like when you when you talk about disc'ing up for speed throwing up, you can disc down for speed when throwing downhill. Because it is very very hard to get the perfect nose angle on the disc, because it has to match the speed perfectly. If you throw a putter slightly downwards and hard and flat, it wont care as much, it will just glide... and because it doesn't need a lot of speed to maintain its flight, it goes further.

Totally correct, the flatness is always relative to the flight path needed, and not earths gravity. / Johannes
