      Same basic principles. Delay your hand movement as long as possible to get the same rubber band effect as in backhand. Turn your hip, turn your shoulders and after that the hand "whip" as the last part of the throw.
      But getting video of it is useful, but that is the basics of forehand. Try to see Jesse Nieminen forehand throws videos. He has really good delay and he is mainly forehand player and that is his weakness as a player, but if you wan see good forehand throws. Jesse Nieminen definitely is man that is useful to watch. His techniques is really good.

      Imagine yourself throwing a tennisball as hard as possible the normal way over your shoulder. You can try the form without ball as well lol. Now do same except next to your hip with your arm parallel to the ground. For some people it feels natural to bring the disc from should level to the shot. Also remember to control the release angle of disc with how much your bent rather than twisting your wrist.
      Standing almost straight up = flat
      Standing more bent over = hyzer
      For anhyzer throw the disc more like you'd throw a tennisball and stand pretty much straight up.
      Learn first without run up and then with run up. Big Jerm has a pretty good sidearm guide on RUclips.
      That's pretty much how I learned it and now I can throw over 100m pretty easily with sidearm.

    Wow! These were real pro tips. Easy to understand... hard to do...
    It is really hard to delay your arm, if you have learned to throw with arm. The more relaxed I am the easier, but still my arm comes too early to the throw, so arm is leading and that is bad. I lose my rotation power and it also mess up the timing. This is hard, but also why this is fun ;) So yeah, having fun is number one!

      Yes i feel you there. Always when i do that i tend to throw hard to the right. Because i pull my arm and then turn the hips. So much crazy things to look out which is so much fun isnt it?

    • @MacNerfer
      @MacNerfer Год назад

      I threw discus and shot put in high school (not very well, but still...). In both cases, the arm with the thing you're throwing is the last body part to move. The rest of your body sets things up for the arm to do the final work.
      Not that I've gotten that down in the disc golf yet, but theoretically it makes sense.

    thats gold. Looking forward to trying it. Its always been clear that there was something odd about your follow through compared to Johanes and this video puts it so well, your not transferring enough angular momentum into the disc and it gets disapated in your follow through. So well put, I really can't wait to (try to) put this into practice and I'm terrified how much your going to improve if you can.
    so good, thank you thank you thank you

    • @Ezagera
      @Ezagera Год назад

      From my point of view "follow through" doesn't matter that much for the shot itself, because the disc is already gone.
      What matters is what happens when the disc is released. This is the crucial moment when the speed must be maximum with an energetic braking of the hip and the front leg which will transfer all the unearth speed into the disc which finds itself ejected because the grip cannot resist the very strong traction on fingers..
      Its importance is more in the necessary relaxation which must follow the throw, once the disc is gone to avoid injuries, by blocking the arm for example.

    Make a video about disc choices - weather to go with midranges or drivers as a first shot. Which would be better, or that is just a prefference for each player.

    • @haukionkannel
      @haukionkannel Год назад

      Depend on player. You have to find what disk is the most straight and start with that. Normally putter. My straightest are mid range and fairway drivers. But in the beginning my straightest flying was speed 4 mid range and I could put all my speed to it. Now i can turn over my mid rangers and some fairways so I have to dial up a little bit.
      They did make excellent video where they did use pro players disk and they were not working at all while pro player was using Jonathans disk... and that was not easy neither. So disks has to be good to your arm speed, to your technique!

    Once again, you're putting out great content. What a guy to "interview", and excellent demonstration all around. Also, something you can practise in your living room (and forget about everything once you hit the track). Added: after trying the weight and stance shift the movement makes me think of martial arts. Maybe this could unlock something for me. I'm really lousy at learning new ways of using my body.

    • @apinakapina
      @apinakapina Год назад

      Well, I'm actually throwing sort of better or at least transferring more of the power to the disc. Stance is far from "athletic" but on purpose, my back can't actually handle what's usually considered as a "good posture". I think I was throwing good 10-15m further on short holes. Distance was eaten out by poor angle control as in violent hyzers for the most part, so now I have to repeat and mind my arm.
      Thanks guys! I think this really helped!

    Something I have been learning is you need to focus on one of these things at a time. They went over 5 form changes in 10 minutes. You can't do even one of them in 10 minutes if you have been doing it wrong the entire time. Choose one of these and go practice for 45 minutes to an hour on that one change until it's natural. Then, choose another thing. Work on that one for an hour, but make sure you are still doing the first one correctly. It may take hundreds of throws to make all of these changes.
