I was practicing throwing some unknown disc on my farm and I threw a very high shot on a windy day and it landed on the roof of the building where I feed my horses. I came to the conclusion that the disc is now over stable.

honestly, ive been playing for 3 1/2 years, only course in my city has water on 6 of 18 holes. ive lost so many discs and just never bought the same one and honestly now wishing i had because i only have 3-4 discs in my bag that i throw because theyre the ones i know how to throw. i dont even try to experiment with others and this video is gonna make me actually go learn all my discs so i stop i can be more versatile. on top of that, never having been taught to have a proper form i still round my arm, and catch my self teeing off parallel to the with the tee box, and just not thinking of a good line to throw my disc and instead just ripping it straight at the basket and more often than not ending up in the trees or water. so even with experience. this video is gonna help.

I have two Diamonds (light and midweight). They are a really great disc. The first one my son bought me post "starter set" so I could throw further with less arm speed as they glide so well. I bought the midweight because I was deathly afraid I'd lose the first and would be without and because I wanted to throw it on a more windy day.
I just wish Lat64 wouldn't print "easy to use driver" on it.

I want to print Johaness drawing of the throws on a clastic 'credit card' it and carry it with me when I play (I would hang it on my bag, but I don't own yet). Then I will put one letter on each of my discs (U=understable, S=stable and O=overstable). One quick look at the card will help me select the shot and throw. The single letter on the disc will help me select the proper disc. Yes, this oversimplifies things as there are gradients of understable, stable and overstable, but the above could help me put the concepts of shot selection, then disc selection into practice (and I'm a noob with only 5 discs, so the choices are limited). It would also help if Johannes could come and throw my disc for me each time to demonstrate. You crammed so much in this video. I'll have to watch it over and over today to absorb it all. The humor or life advice (not always sure which is which) is priceless. Hopefully Jonathan's 'significant other' doesn't think his hyzer shot is pathetic, otherwise there will be another video on hyzer shots coming soon.

Great video as always! One nit pick i tough of is that there is a difference between throwing a putter on hyzer and a distance driver that is not apparent on your discgolf course because of the soft grass and that is skip. If you throw a distance driver on hard ground or lots of leaves and such you can get many times longer skips with the same amount of power because the disc is flatter, so use the discs as tools and learn what your tools do:)

You point your shoulder where you wanna throw. you release the disc inline with your shoulder. Aim not at the basket but to the right of it. find a tree or something to aim at right of basket. at the end of your walk up have your shoulder aimed there. This has worked great for me.

    Keep up the great work

    Step 1. Grab a Pure
Step 2. Blast it towards the gap with some hyzer
Step 3. Watch is auto aim towards the basket
    Step 4. Birdie

I absolutely love my opto glimmer pure. I have gotten so many birdies with it and once I hit the top of the cage on a 68 metre narrow, straight uphill hole

How flippy are y'all's pures? I have an opto pure that I thought would be the perfect disc for me but it is way more flippy than I expected.

@@davidm6387 clean release with a slight hyzer and they go dead straight. If you release with any wobble, most likely with a powergrip, it will immediately show the flaws in your technique

    • @laurikorhonencubes
      @laurikorhonencubes 2 года назад

@@davidm6387 when I got mine I had a bad technique and it was super flippy but then I learned to throw smoother and for me with a hyzer release it goes very straight/in a slight anhyzer and has a tiny fade at the end. I can throw it with a powergrip and I often do because I'm fairly new to throwing backhands and especially putters and I learned to throw backhands with always a powergrip.

@@davidm6387 I've been here, wondering why my putters are so flippy and in disbelief that the pros can throw them 350ft when mine were turning over at 200ft. I had a breakthru one day when I just focused on getting more spin on the disc, this eliminated wobble, cleaned up the release and now my Wardens that were burning over go 250ft+ straight.
Exaggerate wrist curl as you're coming thru the power pocket. Firm grip, but keep you're arm loose after you cross thru the power pocket.

Earth, Wind and Fire. No not the 70s gorup. But, that's a good reminder.
Earth - uphill downhill, side hill, ...
Wind - direction, speed, angle, etc...
fire - which disc to fire at the basket.
