- Hey guys!
Me and Johannes want you to throw BETTER forehands after this video. As a complete beginner there was many basics things I learned from Johannes and his 25 years of playing disc golf. Forehand has been requested by many of you and in this video I try to improve mine. I think I´ve tried one forehand throw in my life prior to this.
Let me know if it helped you or if we missed something. Have a nice day 😀 /Jonathan

Hey! Here's some very nice stuff for you 😀🤘 /Jonathan

Seriously dig these videos. Dude seems open minded and chill. Seeing him make the mistakes I need to correct is more relatable than seeing pros throw perfectly and talk about what newer players do. I wish I could add more likes
that´s very nice of you. Glad you like it :). /Jonathan
@Ryland Peter It's great I can tell that this video really helped me and my bad forehand/sidearm throws alot. 5/5
Love Hans and Frans!
I second this. Way more relatable.
This is so good that when I practiced the motion in my bedroom a dent magically formed in my wall.
🤣 pure gold 👆
this is literally one of the best comments here!
Too funny! 😂
@Luka Ojala that's what I said. Can't be explained.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I love that there is an actual beginner in these videos. There are too many videos telling beginners what to do and not to do from someone who already plays perfectly. However, it's far more effective to see someone who is just learning trying out techniques and practices. I can completely relate to the mistakes and the "a-ha!" moments as well. You're very appreciated for making these videos and for helping us all!
Thank you, Tonyelle ❤ /Jonathan

8:08 is why I will play disc golf for the rest of my life! Such a great feeling to pure a shot!
I agree :) /Jonathan
That shot was amazing.
I literally just bought my first discs two days ago and haven't thrown one yet, these videos are great
What helped me develop my forehand was to go to my favorite local course and throw every shot forehand, except my putt. Don’t keep score. Just keep throwing until you find the discs that work for you. Keep the elbow close to your body and flick the wrist, and follow through.
Great advice. Practice practice practice.
I love seeing a noob learning from day one. I look forward to more of your progress.
I´m glad you like it :) /Jonathan
You guys and you swedish-english had me laugh off the chair! Love it! Cheers from Norge ;)
Haha that´s great :). Glad you like it. /Jonathan
This series seriously helped me a lot to devellop my discgolf game.
Ikr! Been a social level player a few years. Happy that can play par level. For grins started watching these videos and putting the lessons into play. A few strokes per round better now. The fun level increased too. For simple reason that a few holes that I played for par now play to at least have a look/putting second circle.
Fantastic job on this tutorial series! Jonathan's struggles are soooo relatable, and so are the solutions provided by Tomas, and now Johannes.
Glad you like it :) /Jonathan
The touching window shot of Tomas, tender and heartfelt.
The reaction difference between Tomas when you nailed the long throw and Johannes when you hit the S-curve .... Priceless 😂 "Oh my God..."
rofl, the fade to greyscale and sad music at 0:13 was such a nice touch.
Perfect videos, nothing too much, nothing too little, some people know how to do stuff right and a bit of good humor as a cherry on top. And you learn new stuff, perfect, just keep it up guys.
Johannes' "pistol" grip explanation was perfect, changing to that finally gave me a reliable forehand shot! Thanks Johannes!
"so we're back at.. here" :D
/Jonathan
Forehand is like writing in chinese for me. I can kind of throw upshots forehand but off the tee my forehand is non existent. Gonna try some of these tips.
I feel your pain
Killer videos! I’m new to the sport (less than 30 days), and I love the humor mixed with great instruction and advice. Absolutely hysterical and educational at the same time.
Thank you, Nate :)
"I'm so focused right now" (hits tree) So relatable 😂 Thanks for the vid.
I will only be buying discs from Latitude 64 because of your RUclips channel which introduced me to you. Love the videos!
Great as always. I cannot stand the other disc golfer videos that try to teach you. This is entertaining and informative. This is real teaching.
Big Jerm gives a tip in a Brodie video to open your front foot up parallel with your shot. This guy says more of a 45deg thing, but he’s capping hip power and risking a knee injury if he REALLY connects hips into the flick.
No knock on the video; it’s great for beginners. But if you want power, open up the foot.
I max flick 400. Jerm’s tip has put a smoothness into my shots I’ve never felt before.
Also my back foot kicks out like a bowler does. Helps to stabilize my follow through.
Stay low. Condense your frame. It helps to maintain balance when you explode.
✌🏼
The last forehand was world class damnit! :)
Thank you, sir 😀👍 /Jonathan
I love how simple and clear the instructions were. Just very casual and attainable!
Just picked up disc golf myself during this pandemic. I needed something to do to keep my mind busy during these wild times... I’ve played one full 18 course so far and have just been watching videos.
I definitely like the forward throw more than the back hand. Thank you for this video
I haven't played in about 20 years. I wish there'd been YT videos to learn from back then. I am enjoying these lessons a lot. Thanks.
I've been binging videos for waayy too long today and love to see how proper technique dramatically changes outcomes: distance/accuracy. Now if only I was motivated to go practice today.
Go go go! And let me know how i went :) /Jonathan
I love your videos. a great blend of super content and entertainment. Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to develop a sidearm and am going to try out these tips. Thanks again.
Super lucid, I'm happy to see a standstill forehand as the foundation. A standstill backhand video changed my game forever years ago, this surely will help my baseball twisted forearm.
I always found the easiest way to remember hyzer/anhyzer is thinking that the outside edge of the disc is pointing downward for hyzer, and vice versa.
Paul Ulibarri has a great episode of "Down the Fairway" on how to learn how to flick the disc properly. Use a putter and forehand the disc no more than 20 feet but spin it as much as possible. I call it the helicopter drill. If you do the drill correctly the disc will almost float in the air like a helicopter.
that video helped me alot with my forehand too :D its amazing!
Thank you for the recommendation I just went to check it out. I think this video combined with that one gives me a good enough foundation to actually start training my forehand.
FH driving is awesome. I casually outdrive my BH and don't have to worry about my footwork. Finally seeing the discs turn how they are supoosed to feels so good.
The transition from practice to course scenes is *chef's kiss*
This is what I need a lot of help with, keep up the great work!
i saw a video on how to throw a forehand on another channel, I stopped the video and came here because I knew it would be better! Thanks for the awesome content!
Love all these videos! Jonathan, you are the best! Because if you I am all-in Latitude fanboying :D Bags, discs, clothes, everything! Lots of love!
❤🤘
Johannes is a good teacher. I loved the "Oh my god." When he got the throw right.
Love it. Around the 2 minute part is funny, a lot of it is lol
These videos are great! Keep 'em coming!
Thank you, Scott! /Jonathan
Tomas is not with us...loved that shot you guys are awesome
😂
Love these videos. Super entertaining and informative. Thanks so much.
You're videos are some of the best out there to learn from. Shows what new players are going through. We all can't throw like the pros and doing what they do doesn't always work for newer players. The humor and the trial and error on these videos are great!!!
My incompetence has finally found an outlet 😂. Glad you like them, Derek. /Jonathan
I was a QB in football and a pitcher in baseball. I always kind of equated my forehand to like Brett Favre’s throwing motion or a sidearm pitcher in baseball. When I started approaching it that way, my forehand got better and I now use forehand on my deeper drives because I can get more distance with it than my backhand where I use a bit more finesse and hit the shorter chips and putts.
I definitely struggle with sidearm. Going to try some of these tips out for sure!
Let me know how it went :) /Jonathan
I am new to this sport and I am learning so much from your videos! Great info and you all crack me up 😆 thank you so much!!!

This video series has been the most helpful tool for improving my game since starting in May/June! The relatable atmosphere mixed with great tips have improved my game so much. I even competed in my first tournament with some confidence after watching these over and over.
Thats awesome. How did it go? /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 It was fantastic! I came in 10/18 in the Warwick Amateur Disc Golf Championship (AM3) with some of the best throws I've ever had, including a ~430ft drive, my furthest by almost 70-80ft.
@@ikigaiWellnessLLC Congratulations. Must have felt really good :) /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 Absolutely! I had such a great time that I signed up for another tournament on Dec 6.
A buddy and me started at the same time about two years ago and we are equals on backhand and have just begun training forehands. He is a natural on forehands and I'm really jealous since I have had a hard time learning it. These kind of videos are so helpful and I'm gradually getting better, found some good tips that I´m eager to try out.
Don´t tell you friend about this video, haha 😂. Good luck with your forehand, Tommy. Let me know if it helped you out. /Jonathan
8:08 “light bulb” 💡💡💡
Enjoying the videos . They are helpful for sure.
That´s great :) /Jonathan
Good stuff, great to see the learning pay off in the one video too!
I learned backhand from one of your videos about 2 months ago and now I'm hooked on Disc golf. Now, I'm trying to learn a forehand throw and I think this will help a lot. Thanks and keep it up
That´s awesome. Let me know if it worked :) /Jonathan
This series is by far the best content on how to get into and get better at disc golf on the internet. It is informative, relatable, humorous, and very high quality. Keep the content coming, I cannot wait to see more!
Cheers, Tim. Thats very nice of you :) /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 Keep making the great content Jonathan, and I'll keep sharing it! I appreciate the quality of editing, and thoughtfulness in the filmmaking. Better than Jomez if I dare say!
I'll give it my best 😀.
And thank you for those kind words
This dudes funny as hell and makes it easy to learn, great tutorials
Thanks a ton ❤🤘
I’ve only been playing disc golf for a short time, but never dedicated the time to learn a forehand. After watching this video I’m ready to add it to my repertoire! Well-produced and great tips. 👍
Glad to hear, Jake 😀 /Jonathan
I throw with one finger underneath. Works better for me personally. Tried 2 & 3 just messed me up. I don't recommend it but I get more distance & better accuracy with 1finger underneath.
Yes a video where you actually see someone throw and learn. I watched scott stokely's video on forehands and he only talks but doesn't show how it's supposed to be done.
These are very good tips. I don't watch these for knowledge, purely for entertainment. I'm no pro by any means, but know the little things my game needs. For a beginner all your videos are great. Really shows how difficult it is when you're first starting out. Your sense of humor and editing crack me up man. Glad you found a wonderful game. Can't wait for the day you beat Tomas! I'm teaching a 16 year old kid the game right now and it's a blast. He has a canon for an arm, so because on one hole he out drove me with a forehand he thought we should finally really keep score. He was sad to find out there was still much to learn (whooped him). But seeing things click and make sense to him is great. The first time someone throws a clean hyzer flip or flex anny that goes where they intend it to go seems to be the moment they fall in love with the game. Something about watching a disc bend and move like that, and planning it that way through some trees just works. Keep it up my man!
Hahaha "Whooped him"😂😂 . Glad you like it my friend. I totally agree with you about seeing the disc go.
Been waiting for the forehand episode 😊
New to the series, ton of win here, thank you !
I played the other day and threw some bombs with my forehand, went back out and couldn’t throw it half the distance! This video helped a ton to understand why my throw wasn’t great!
That's great! Glad it helped 😀 /Jonathan
8:08 When you see someone fall for the game!
All it takes is one good shot.
Lol
Thank you for this! I feel like I've got the backhand down somewhat, but my forehand is dropping about 20 feet in front of me. This is way better explained than how it was explained to me previously!
Excellent content and clarity, as usual. It’s time to add the forehand to my arsenal, as it were. Adding this to my field work. Thank you both!
Thank you. Good luck with the forehand :). /jonathan
Another great video. I've been trying to improve my forehand for a long time. This video just gave me another tidbit to try. Many other videos I see tell you to bend at your waste to control hyzer and anhyzer. This video emphasizes the wrist. I'm going to work on that. Thanks.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much this!!! My 1st day is tmrw, and you folks have been so much help I cannot thank you enough! Hope your game is doing even better a year later! Thanks again!!!
Thanks. Wondered why I would get super inconsistent halfway through the course
Jonathan, helpful and awesome, as always ! Thank you !
this has done so much for my flick, i guess my forehand, for my forehand. before i aimed at any moving object in my path, now i mainly hit trees. it was good to see in this video that that is the right thing to do. very informative.
Glad you like the video :) /Jonathan
Great video! I gotta say though, as someone that struggled with forehands for a long time and has recently gotten a lot better with them, I really hate seeing people suggest overstable discs to people trying to learn forehands. Forehanding less stable (Not flippy necessarily) discs will actually teach you how to control angles instead of using overstability as a crutch and developing bad/unnecessary habits. I always hate seeing overstable discs advertised as "Good for forehands". If people encourage others to stay away from more overstable molds when learning backhand, I think it should be the same for forehand. Not to say overstability is a bad thing. It's a tool not a crutch, and beginners don't know the difference.
@@benjohnson185 😂
Hey. Thank you for your input. Ima try to answer, haha. I noticed when trying to throw the Saint. Which for me was a bit understable, at least for a forehand throw. What noticed was that I had to use an hyzer angle to compensate for the flutter. Instead of actually throwing the "correct way". Do you have any feedback there? Should one just be able to throw without any angle? Have a nice day! 😀 /Jonathan
@@Latitude64 For me the flutter issue was always a grip thing. I’ve always heard the pros talk about having a real firm grip with the disc really tucked all the way into your hand. Could be that you’ve got some space inbetween the disc and your hand which makes it a lot harder to maintain the same angle all the way through the throw. As far as I understand the flutter comes from inconsistent angle in your pull through. Overstable discs will always try to correct into a hyzer, so it will fight out of that fluttery inconsistent angle into a hyzer where as less stable discs will ride that flutter and do weird things. I think if you can get a clean release you can really start to learn the angles and utilize more of your bag. What really helped me was starting slow and working on approach shots. My 2020 disc golf goal was to be confident throwing forehands off the tee when needed and I basically couldn’t throw a forehand at all. Lately I’ve been feeling super confident with my forehands, actually got my second ace a couple weeks ago and it was with a forehand (Nightstrike III) so I’d say I reached my goal! haha. I’m by no means an expert and I know a lot of people forehand overstable only so definitely do what works for you, but for me it always seemed like the wrong way to go about it.
@@LeftySupreme Thank you for your feedback, Cody. I appreciate it. And congratulation on your ace :)
Love the channel, refreshing to see someone give tips to someone who isn't a pro, it's a video I'll be saving to share with friends who are learning forehands.

I think these videos are great for beginners and keeping things as simple as possible.
Just started playing disc golf. This is super helpful.
Hey Angelita. I'm glad you enjoy the videos :). /Jonathan
One thing that was helpful for me learning fore was to literally have someone hold your arm still. Once you can reliabley throw it ten feet pretty then add the whole body and start adding distance

Amazing video. Gonna go practice my forehand throw now!
Good advice here on form, but it's good to work with understable discs so that you learn a smooth release. The OS discs tend to mask problems. Happy hukkin'!
Thank you for your feedback :) /Jonathan
I love your videos. When you make future videos, can you pan the camera over the grip? I know it’s explained how, but some need to see. Thank you guys.
I'd love if Latitude 64 could list the flat or domeyness of their discs in their shop like OTB does, it would help me pick up the best possible forehand discs.
