    I will say, I respect the list overall! In my own personal view, when you asked about the Salamanders and why we like them, I really like the fact that they’re craftsmen. There’s something about “warriors who forge their own equipment” and it really makes me happy.

    This was a great vid. I for one an a Space Wolf fan, like most already know, mostly because I had read their books back in highschool and that is what got me into the 40k universe. As I continued to learn, the more I fell in love with the chapter. Course I also noticed how hypocritical they can be. My only real argument for their use of psychers, despite their hate for all, was because they were psychers they could trust. The Space Wolves have always been a closed off chapter and put more trust in their own chapter brothers over their fellow Astartes.
    And their attempts to create their own successor chapters only for them to turn into the Wulfen was tragic in a way. Even to this day the Space Wolves only have 1 successor chapter that I know of. In a way their lore almost felt similar to the Blood Angels if you look at it.
    As to the other chapters, the Dark Angels have always been a close second. And Salamanders are in that list somewhere. To the whole, "Salamanders are the only good ones", i do have a gripe about that. It was my opinion that any Space Marine from any chapter can have the capacity to care about civilians, it is just an exception. Just look at some of the other Chapters and you find Many marines who cared for guardsmen and civilians, even sacrificing their lives to save them.
    If I do have to make one gripe about them, is that you cannot be a Space Wolf fan without most people just saying "oh, so you're a furry", it is a little irritating after a while.
    Despite all that, I still love this fandom and it is so inspiring that I had to make my own Space Marine Chapter.
    Okay, rant over. I enjoyed the work, and cant wait for more. You are doing superb Raven.

    I can agree with your ranking but it honestly hurt a little when you put the space wolves second to last because they're my favorite legion but I understand, they're just space Vikings but that's why I love them! Just good ol fashioned Vikings that get sent out to execute any legion or anyone the emperor feels needs to be dealt with on a side note didn't know much about the white scars but now I like them even more now

  • @Drachnyen07

    Phenomenal video, great points for your decision, very few things I’d note. As a Blood Angel fan you had great points with them, they don’t have much pull factor and Sanguinius is a boring primarch.
    Ultramarines and Fists definetly fall into the “nobody likes them unless it’s one person and they have VERY GOOD reasoning, you know what I’m talking bout, the guy who reads the lore and appreciates the well-roundedness.
    Space Wolves funnily enough (or sad in a way) kinda been straying away from the Viking aesthetic in favour of pure wolfiness.
    And last I actually had a talk with a friend getting into Warhammer said he didn’t like the salamanders that much. I explained how they have to be good so the Space Marines feel that little bit human, that’s why we feel invested with every last stand and heroic moment, it’s the breaking away from the grimdark that little bit to have a reason to keep reading, to hope the imperium survive, like them a lot more after that.
    Anyways tangent over, great vid man

      Thank you very much! And no worries, my brother is a big Blood Angels fan too, and even he admitted that Sanguinius is just boring. Haha.
      My big problem with the Ultramarines and Fists is...yeah just...as a general rule they are very boring and underwhelming. To really like them you have to hear a story from ONE of them. Like we love Titus because his story is awesome. But focus on the legion overall? Yeah not quite as standoutish.
      Yeah The Wolves just...irk me. Haha.
      I don't hate the Salamanders at all. I love them! Vulcan is a G, and the legion is absolutely awesome. I think my problem always was that whenever people said their favorite was the Salamanders, they always said it was because "They're the good guys." And I couldn't help but think: What about if a White Scar or a Dark Angel or a Templar did something morally good and self sacrificing? Are they secretly a Salamander in disguise? I guess I want more to the Salamanders than just they're the only good guys, and I'd like to see other marines get praised for doing good as well.

    • @Drachnyen07
      @Drachnyen07 6 дней назад +1

      @@RavenKnightYT I guess I should have elaborated, I wasn’t hating on the Salamanders, I just found it interesting as it was a conversation I had today and thought “hey, I wanna take a deep dive into Salamanders now!” Its definitely less common to see other chapters be kind to humans, so it’s nice to see one group make it their thing for the sake of the entire faction.

    To be fair you can build a successor chapter that is good guys archetype dark angels. Just because the Salamanders fit that archetype doesn't mean it is exclusive to them. Think about the Emperor's Spears, there any Ultramarines successor chapter but they act more like the Celtic version of the Space Wolves. You could also just go primogenitor unknown. A lot of things are possible in 40k.
    Also though I do love wholesome Salamanders, there my third favorite legion behind Scars and Blood Angels, I'm a huge fan of the fire aesthetics that they also come with.

(Though, the Ultramarines take a really big hit due to the Hypocrisy of their primarch) Also, I’m surprised the Space wolves didn’t immediately drop to number 9 given your favorite is the Dark Angels XD.

    For my tier list of favourite to least favourite loyalist legion i would put dark angels, blood angels and salamanders are at my top tier favourite for others there a mah to me
    Also when i first heard of salamanders, black dragons and star dragons what made me like em was the dragon theme because I was a fan of the how to train your dragon trilogie (black dragons were my number one favourite and the first that was searched by me during my early days of warhammer what a time to be alive with salamanders and star dragons being second searched by me so yeah oh and bone curse from the black dragons is cool )

  • @thelastskylander904
    @thelastskylander904 6 дней назад

    I would have to agree with the Dark Angel being at the top, as someone who has always been a bigger fan of the successor chapters, the dark angels are the ONLY legion the broke top 10 for me (being ranked 7, beating out the Covenant of Fire, Black Templars, and the Red Scorpions). Would have personally put the Fists higher though because of their unique rivalry with the Iron Warriors compared to the Smurfs only really having some neat characters and a Roman esthetic.

  • @dr.calibrations7984
    @dr.calibrations7984 6 дней назад +2

    I'm surprised Space Wolves didn't make dead last. As for the oversaturation of Viking stuff. Its just trends, eventually it'll pass, just like Marvel no stakes writing. This kind of stuff starts to bother you less and less once you notice that "X thing is getting its limelight and fans of it are happy, my thing had, or will have its time"
    Remember the edgy stuff back in the 2000s? The knight stuff when we were kids? Back in the 80s kung fu flicks were king, right now its Vikings. Part of that is LARPers with .3% Scandinavian DNA and zero faith in the real God going "Oh man, I'm a norse pegan" sure you are mate, thats why you want a warriors death and enlisted in the military as a field communications specialist (very dangerous job) but no, you're just an accountant, hmm.
    It'll pass and the next thing will get its time. Edgy stories will probably have a big boon by 2030, which sucks for me because I enjoy serious heroic tales with tragedy but also hope in darkness, which had its time already. My thing MIGHT get some sunlight in the interrum of Marvel crap with no stakes and pure edge where the bad guy wins by just being the absolute worst. But it'll be short-lived. Lol, i suppose the story type will fit reality, hoping for a longer time with stories I love all while the impending doom of pure edge looms.
    Also favorite chapter, Salamanders, by far. Not only because they are LITERALLY what I was talking about in the last paragraph, but also, they use flame based weapons, blacksmiths, and they enjoy their hammers. While i personally LOVE swords, a hammer in the hands of a Space Marine is just a mood.
    VULKAN LIVES

    nice viid man and yeah fair reasoning I don't really favor legions but chapters so no comments on selection
    got some things to say mind
    with the russ thing it is worth noting russ at least kept his spirituality to himself he didn't hide it very well but he never shoved it down anyones throat lorgar on the other hand did the least for the crusade specifically cause he kept forcibly converting every world he conquered and monarchia was a mess because it only worked with his idealized version of priests when he directly managed it
    and as for the inquisition I'll be honest I like for the opposite reason of space wolf favoritism I hate the inquisition I think it's ridiculous they get away with half of the stupid stunts they pull so seeing not only the space wolves but the grey knights tell them no you will not and not got plot contrived away is nice
