It's interesting that alot of the second founding chapters usually take a part of their origin legions ideology or personality of their primarch and puts it to the extreme. Black Templar have the ferocious stubbornness of Dorn(and the legacy of Sigismund) leading to them being one of the least compliant chapters out there. Where as others focus on defensive strategies that lead to less casualties, but also be stubborn defenders. The dark angel successors have varying degrees of obsession over the fallen. Some so relentless that they have a long running reputation of just leaving or not following orders mysteriously. Another who sees the hunt for the fallen as less important and sees the torture to get them to admit their sins as useless. Or the Angels encarmine are a blood angels chapter that exmplifies the warrior spirti of Sanguinius above all else. It's kinda interesting and makes their chapters distinctive, but can ultimatly be their undoing due to strict and inflexible doctrines.
The Raptors make an appearance in Fire warrior. I'm not sure how cannon that game is but one angry Tau hurt them badly. But they seem almost like an alpha legion successor than Ravenguard. Their 'cowardly' tactics, as their cousins might call it) begins to veer further towards the 20th legion in practicality, subterfuge and assasinations. Although they still don't hit the ridiculous big brain, impossible to predict actions of the Alpha legion. But just like them, their tactics just make their cousins angry calling them cowards. And also much like the alpha legion, they do not care for those insults and just keep doing what they do best. But this mentality is fuelled by their near destruction in the past.

I wish the mortifactors got more love from GW, they are so interesting! One of the only chapters to use the Codex correctly, but also so divergent I can only imagine how rowboat gorillaman feels about them.

Black Templar basically found a loophole to have more then a thousand members and have rolled with it for ten thousand years by simply never stopping and basically showing complete and utter devotion to the emperor. Their lack of psykers(hate of them) and religious ideals towards the emperor probably helps in this regard too. Cause mostly everyone but other space marines see the emperor as a god it onlymakes them more trustworthy.

We will unify the Planetary Defense Force (PDF) and the Imperial guard (IG) into a massive conglomerate fighting force with the best weapons. Next, we will unify all the chapter houses along with their successor chapters of the Adepteus Astartes , into one branch know as the Imperial Space Marines. Together we shall destroy the xenos and other extraterrestrial and interstellar species that dare pose a threat to humanity. The emperor of man would be proud.
Hold on a moment! How can the Black Templars get PDF troops as potential aspirants? Isn't the whole point of aspirants that they are pre-teen so as to avoid potential gene seed tissue rejection? And the PDF would all be far past that stage? Even in the Horus Heresy books, it mentions that adults are past the point of being able to become Space Marines, and have to settle for lesser augmentations.
Probably has to do with the gene seed of imperial fists and the Templars seed being really pure and them not having the gland that makes them spit acid or they have found a way to make it so more people can survive the implantation of the gene seed
I think you missed one, the Lions Sable were a dark angels successor chapter I believe of the second founding. Unfortunatly what originally started as the first recorded meeting, and multiple escapes of Cypher, led to the chapter master of the dark angels of the time and the Lions sable being lost in the eye of terror. Dark angels cover up these events but Cypher was strangely nice enough to return the lions helm and the sword of secrets later at some point.

No talk of Demetrius Katafalque, Quesiah Ichabod, or the current Chapter Master and Champion of the Feast of Blades...Zachariah Kersh?? No mention of Dorn's Darkness?? Or how Kersh beat an Imperial Fist AND a Black Templar in a three way sword match to win the Feast?? And a million other unique facts about the Excoriators??? MASSIVE let-down for me. I'm going to have re-evaluate my subscription to this channel. My Excoriators NEVER get the respect and love they deserve.
