You notice he got 3 main points very wrong in his review? 1st: it was high powered water hoses with strong pressure to subdue David, not sprinklers. 2nd: Staples didn't tell Elijah he was wrong, she told him to go in peace knowing that he was RIGHT about superheroes and about comics documenting history but he just didn't account for the secret organisation plotting to keep them undercover (or so she thought). Lastly: Staples therapy wasn't a ruse at all, she states that the company only uses the gun if all other methods fail and also that they r not murderers. Btw, beast doesn't bear hug Elijah, he crushes his shoulder and palm strikes his stomach. Another point u got wrong was: Staples actually told David that she wasn't gonna cum after him but then the horde showed up and she knew they were gonna clash and cause a scene so she had to stop them before the public saw them. That's also y she ordered all the patients in the facility to b kept away from the windows facing the showdown. I emplore u to re watch the movie coz I'm pretty sure the above points were how I stated and not how u did.... btw I mean no offence or any negativity from this comment I swear. I'm just a subscriber making sure one of my favourite channels r getting their facts straight :-) peace and love to u all
Agreed. Unfortunately. As many actors in Hollywood have said. The awards are often based more on public approval of the movie than they are of an individual performance. I think this is literally McAvoys greatest performance. And I don’t mean this one film. I mean his portrayal as a psychotic person with multiple personality disorder. If it were this series or another. His performance was right up there with Sean Penn in “I am Sam” and Dustin Hoffman in “Rainman”. He killed it. Seeing him in the trailer for “Dark Phoenix” immediately made me think to myself. “Easy money for Jame McAvoy”. Because he nails a young professor X as well. But after seeing his range in these movies. Nowhere near the acting ability he had to show as the hoard.
"living gods" Not sure how being super strong makes you a "god" but okay... maybe if they were superman level but calling them "gods" is ridiculous, they are superhuman at best.
@@tiktaco4391 man you must not have seen the movie lol because if you did you'd realize that this movie basically opened a door for a new universe of heroes. Wich means there actually could be someone with the power of a god in this existing universe, not only that but the doctor referred to them as gods herself.
@@tiktaco4391 P.s if you saw a man lift a car, climb upside down on the ceiling or even have bullet resistant skin. Would you not consider those to be god-like qualities?
I was so confused when Elijah said "It isn't a limited edition mama, It's an origin story." I wondered who's origin story was it and then I realized it was every other superhero's. My god this movie was brilliant!
Or the origin story of all the real life movie viewers using the movie as inspiration to believe in themselves and push farther than the walls constructed by others such as government or education system or parents etc.
I aways thought it was more like his body has super bone and muscular density, which would explain his super strength and resilience, also his water problems, as his would be very heavy and unable to properly swim.
@@MarcSiqueira Exactly this, not to mention he may be unbreakable, but he still needs to breath. The whole "Just touching water makes him weak" was a dumb addition.
@@Sefcax No it was perfect as that's a psychological trauma that even Superhumans are not spared from feeling. The role of the psychologist is actually brilliant cause she was also right. Despite her role being a ultimate lie in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean the points she gave were not true. Glass agrees with this when he talks to Kevin. Alot of extraordinary things can be explained down with the basis of Science but that doesn't change the overall facts that these people do IN Fact have extraordinary abilities. Out of a possible 7 billion people and they're the only ones with these abilities? That is infact super human esque given the landscape.
Right I thought it would have been really interesting to see a superhero universe were there are superhero’s are super but in a way we could see it existing in are own world especially right now with everyones love of marvel and dc superhero currently
I agree, M. Night Shyamalan made "realistic" heroes and villains. The organisation didn't want to make martyrs out of them. They didn't want anyone to see. That's why they stopped them from showing themselves publicly(before they could go to Osaka Tower). Mr. Glass was already dying. The Beast was Kevin at the time, so he wouldn't have been bulletproof(if he was). And David (I might be wrong here) I think he accepted his death after seeing the visions from Dr. Staple, he might have understood what the organisation stood for... Keeping the balance and peace.
@@matthewheasley4584 I mean he managed to break the tank while he was completely submerged in water. If he was really determined he could've powered through. Although he was weakened by the tank before he went to the puddle.
But then the Osaka Tower has an elevator possessed by the devil, and it's summoning aliens to the roof, and it turns out Bruce Willis is from this species as he shares their water weakness, and then it's revealed the whole thing is a small 2018 themed city being held in a 2147 metropolis' zoo. And then they all have to team up when the plants all go crazy, and then hot-dog guy comes riding in on a horse leading an army of Sixth Sense ghosts.
The puddle scene pissed me off so much. I would rather see David drown in the tank than see some random mortal kill him nonchalantly in front of his son after Sarah Paulson gives him a farewell speech.
IN THE DEFENSE OF GLASS... This Movie Isn't Supposed To Be An Epic MCU Or DCEU Superhero Movie Where The Heroes And Villains Go Out In A Blaze Of Glory. This Is An "What If These Real Individuals Had Extraordinary Gifts In Our Mundane World" So He They All Died In A Pretty Mundane Way. ALSO...The Reason He Escaped The Tank Was Because He Was Able To Break It Underwater. When He Drowned In The Puddle He Couldn't Escape Because He Had NO LEVERAGE! It Doesn't Matter How Strong You Are, If You Take Away Someone's Leverage By Holding Their Head Down, They Can Move And Fight All They Want, They Aren't Escaping.
The thing that I like most about this movie is that is closes out the stories of these characters and seals Mr. Glass as the most fanatical, brilliant villain ever.
Im not sure he was the villian. He was just confused and trying to find out who he was more than anything. Im not sure the beast or mr glass was the bad guys actually....
@@VAOdin I understand. But look at what he faced. Deception>Murder. Conspiracy. What he was trying to do in his heart was just figure out what was going on and find out who he was...It's hard to say is is strictly evil when he is facing evil himself just to discover the truth...and he did reveal who oversear was and show David he was oversear and not just some dude....and look at the end result of Mr> Glass work was the whole world seeing the truth..
The best way to portray an Evil Genius/Antagonist archetype. Something sad and puzzling in their origin happens and they need an answer for said phenomenon that they would go to the ends of the earth to figure it out.
Whenever Elijah’s bones started to break his screams actually hurt my ears. I think it was just the audio of that one specific theater but lemme know if that scene was super loud.
I did like that Glass confirmed the train David was on was the same that Kevin's father was on... that was perfect. But the rest of the third act... Edit: oh, and I'm mainly talking about how I was looking forward to seeing Kevin's reaction to Elijah revealing his involvement with his father's death. Not saying the movie was perfect, or that the scene was perfect, just that we basically only had fan theories about Kevin's father up until Glass.
not really perfect. I mean, he had to link them somehow. It's called a callback. It's pretty common in films. This was just a reheated turd. Wish they'd stop paying this clown to make films.
I loved the fact that Mr.Glass was smart enough to know that the doctor wasn't who she say she was. How in the end, he still won. The tower was brilliant diversion for his true master plan which was simple, showing the world via livestream that people with special abilities do exist. Love how he sent it to all their loved ones so that they can spread the truth.
I don't hate Glass and that's probably because McAvoy is so amazing, but I hate the way David died. Unbreakable is one of my favorite movies and I'm gonna find it hard to go back and watch it knowing his life is gonna end in a damn puddle by the hands of some faceless jackass.
taya I get David’s death was a bit disappointing, but realistically there’s not many other ways on how he would have died. Also we can clearly see David is much weaker as 1. He almost just drowned and 2. He was immobilised by the guy and couldn’t move easily, while being drowned
@@mrmemeable546 the issue with David is water making him "weaker" was just wedged into this movie. Being able to drown in it is one thing but having it literally make him weak was just dumb and made no sense. In Unbreakable he has just gotten outta the pool and didn't seem all that weak. Hell in this movie he gets thrown in the water tank but still has enough strength to swing under water and break it from the inside? But then is too weak to fight back against a random thug? They really could have done a better job on that whole part. They could have at least used multiple random thugs that were still struggling to hold him down or something.
Casey going to visit Kevin and insisting on speaking with him made sense to me. The last person she trusted was her father, then he died and her uncle abused her for years. Until she was kidnapped and eventually found her strength, being spared by The Beast and getting her uncle sent to prison. The other two girls weren't her friends, they invited her to the party out of pity. Kevin/The Beast saved her and she's grateful for it. Even though he'd done terrible things, he was her hero and he proved that we could be more than we believe.
@@tconaway3305 then go. Otherwise we will just ruin the story for you. You know, two movies came before this one, and in 2 movies lot of stuff happens. Everything you need to know about the story of the girl is, of course, in "Split".
They could make a new one cause Glass would y’all about how there could be more and stuff like saw and other movies they killed off all the other main guys then made a new one where other people came in
What im confused the most are people kept on saying the obviously foreshadowed scenes keep on calling it "twist". I mean, you watched both the previous movie right? And this is not a run of the mill hollywood action superhero movie, this is more of a character study of superhero in a grounded reality.
I couldn’t agree more. “Twist he was streaming it the entire time” there was literally a scene showing Glass “hacking” the system. “Twist his dad died in the train crash” it was painfully obvious it was the same train crash.
I really liked the movie. The twists weren't far fetched yet still unexpected, exactly how a twist should be and it opened the franchise up for future films. The fact that they all died is truly a mindblowing fact, but it is exactly how this movie should be because of the plot. Really, if you've watched this movie you should rewind and watch it again with the fact in mind that this was all some scheme to kill superhumans.
Definitely could be a franchise. I'm remembering all the clippings and prints in Mr Glass' office in Unbreakable, how he'd always been looking for superhumans all over the world.
Good vid. But. I feel like you missed a good portion of split. You had said it was odd Casey would meet with Kevin. I thought it made perfect sense. Kevin made every personality based mainly off of serious past abuse. Something Casey also dealt with.
If they wanted to run away they could've escaped easily but the mastermind had a clean purpose with a plan. That female Agent said, It was a suicide mission, Oh Elijah what have you done ".
the one thing that really bugged me was david dying. he’s so strong he can break down a metal door but can’t find enough strength to push himself out of a puddle, even in a weakened state. i woulda liked to see him live at least. 🤷🏻♀️
So he broke himself out of the water container while fighting against the beast , but couldn't get himself free from two normal humans drowning him on a pot hole?🤔
Everyone is made up of mostly water that doesn't mean we can't drown. They stated many times water is his weakness. Just like Superman is from Krypton but pieces of the planet (kryptonite) is his weakness.
That's just cause people are use to Marvel endings where the heroes always wins. If the avengers use real world logic, the world would've asked for Wanda or the entire team's head after that one bombing she caused that killed tons of people.
@@mr.unknown731 No, and not everyone gets murdered by vigilantes for accidentally killing people while saving others. There were consequences, though, as the government no longer trusted the Avengers to operate on their own.
@9:30 the beast doesn’t “Bear Hug” Mr glass he grabs his shoulder crushing it and then punches him in the chest backwards in his wheelchair it was spectacular
The ending doesn't conclude the story, instead it just asks more questions and begs for a sequel. I figured some of the characters would die, but David died like a chump. The whole movie, I hated Sarah Paulson's character. I knew it was intentional, but I was hoping the beast would kill her.
Or at the very least, have the society for her to vouch for the success of "her way" with her life, in other words, Glass condemning her to die with his "leaks" (aka revenge from beyond the grave).
The villain, Mr. Glass turns out to be a hero in comparison to the secret clover agency though. He uploads the video for all to see as inspiration and motivation to break free from the "system"
Lol yeah, i just finished watching it for the 1st time just now, and i turned to my girl when the Beast hit Glass, and i said "oh come on, dont have them break up their dangerous alliance AND possibly kill off Mr Glass NOW! They've got more mayhem to unleash".... lol, even Mr Glass himself said it, when David's son exposed that Elijah "killed" his father; "dont tell him ALREADY" i think he said, or "now".... But then i realized at the very end with the 3rd twist, that being evil and unleashing mayhem was never Elijah OR his alter ego Mr Glass' intention--- he wasn't a vicious, evil, mass murdering criminal. He was just a guy who believed something was true SO DEEPLY, that he was going to go to ANY lengths to expose it. In fact, I'll bet he never had any intentions of getting to that building and killing more people... it was all a ruse to throw them off of his real "record/stream it all, and get it on the web" plan
To understand why the movie ended the way it did, pay close attention to Shyamalan’s penning: “This is not a cartoon. This is the real world”. And in the real world, ladies and gentlemen, people die. Humanity’s greed; quite specifically, their envy, will prevent those gifted from ever coming out of hiding. Mankind will find a way of destroying them, just like internet trolls found on this feed, shunning someone’s art. Nobody rates success as much as they’d like watching someone fall. Humanity didn’t want redundancy, hence killing those gifted without exposure. As soon as Mr Glass’ video surfaced online, we see Dr Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) scream because their organisation now knows they’re fighting a losing battle. Humans, sooner or later, will near extinction in evolution of those on the new spectrum; namely, Dunn’s spectrum. The ending, in my humble opinion, is an acquired taste - nevertheless - smart. The war has only just begun. “This was an origin story the whole time”.
Finally someone w/ some sense. And @foundflix the "gun" shown in the first act thatll inevitably be used in the 3rd was that huge pothole. Soon as they showed it I had a pretty strong feeling it would comeback.
If it's not a cartoon and it is the real world then why the hell do they have superpowers, besides the idea of a superior human is nothing new, marvel did it and without any stupid twists
Arthemise Jean well my name is awesome, and about the real world thing, do you really believe this is how it would go down? The government woul either try to control those with powers or kill them on the spot, trying to convince them that they dont have powers is the type of stupid shit shyamalan puts in his movies like the water thing in signs
@Arthemise Jean such an idiotic plan would never take place in the real world, they would be classified as national security threats and therefore way more thought and resources would be poured in, and the plan Stable came up with was stupid, the fact that it almost worked in the movie is bad writing
At least MacBeth and his wife's downfall were brought upon themselves. Poetic justice for trying to escape fate and all that. And they took down people with them. THAT sort of dark plot makes sense. Glass just was like who cares about giving a good reason for their deaths or giving them any agency over it, let's just kill them in a boring way because people won't be expecting it!
@@sarahcb3142 Something I've been trying to tell people. Death, much like shock/gross out humor and jump scares, can be used to bring people to dark places very quickly. But with no substance behind it, it's a meaningless action. You need death of your characters to mean something, and not just be a shortcut into hopefully disturbing your audience or catching them off guard.
The interconnection between all 3 films and their characters is seamless, remember the trilogy wasn’t planned from the beginning just to be able to rescue the storyline between all 3 is an accomplishment good job Mr M.Night!
I watched the movie without any glasses but still realized that the movie was a little *transparent* but as a person who has an optimistic point of view. The glass is always half full to me. You know what they say. "Seven days without a pun makes one weak"
I liked it as well. It was emotional losing all of the main characters but you learn that Mr. Glass gave David’s life meaning and fulfillment, even at the end he ensured that none of them died for nothing. His actions will ensure that a lot more Overseers come to be and with that said can we even call him a villain anymore?
When you can’t afford anything so you watch foundflix to see what happens EDIT: this is my first time to get this much likes, I know it’s a sad amount, but I’m thankful
She actually told Mr glass that he was "correct in his theory" but whatever. A lot of inaccurate descriptions in this review lol for those who haven't seen it.
Yeah. That's getting to me also. For a person who specializes in studying a movie. How could they get something so wrong? It's not even like the organization is even over. Of course they're still going to try keep balance. This review was a disappointment.
w k Well there’s your problem you didn’t watch the movie lazy lol He didn’t understand the goals and results of the movie and their characters, and etc. People explain it in the comments I love this RUclipsr but he’s been a disappointment when it comes to these videos on Spilt and Glass getting shit wrong and not getting it.
@@Chaosgiver They'll try to keep going, but such an organization relies heavily on the shadows. Not just for their own, HIGHLY ILLEGAL actions, but also any information about what they're trying to contain. With the existence of metahumans out to the public, they've already lost the battle on information. Now, anyone that has such gifts that might have otherwise written it off as "Gee, that's neat," may start to question if they're really one of the Exceptionals. On the other side of the coin, oh hey, if you are one of the Exceptionals, there's this evil shadow council that takes it upon themselves to do everything up to and including eradicating you from existence, if you don't play along with the normal. They also don't take into account the goddamn Batman.
I liked this movie. There were some things that were dumb. I hated how David’s story wrapped up. I wish it had been larger scale. But James McAvoy was great. I liked the fact that Mr. Glass kinda won in the end. And I liked the fight scenes between The Beast and David. I hate that this movie got slammed so hard and YMS rated it as a 1/10 along with the horror movie Slenderman and others. In my own opinion it really wasn’t that bad...
I think a better “twist” would have been Haley Joel Osment’s character from “The sixth sense” showing up as a patient at the hospital because he “still sees dead people” and he could be revealed as a character in the same universe as Split, Unbreakable Etc...
Only thing stopping that is that it would mean David isn't just someone else entirely, he's someone else that's dead. Good luck explaining that. Otherwise, I'd love it.
I loved this movie man. To be honest the execution wasn’t on my mind when watching. But the story itself was. I love this story of all 3 movies. The limited, more logical and relatable super hero’s. Mr. Glass being that character that you can never truly figure out what he’s doing or what it part of his plans and what isn’t. The actor that plays Bruce’s son freaks me out cuz his pupils are huge or his eye are too dark making him look like a demon. Lol. But non the less, I hope this story continues and creates more super hero movies. These heros I find better than Marvel. Don’t forget what Glass said. It was all part of his plan. It wasn’t an ending, it was an origin story. I took this as the side characters will have powers or will be like Robin turning into Nightwing type of thing. Or based off what you said, maybe it’s the origin of all super hero’s. The origin of his next films. Maybe Glass was talking to the audience. Also I thought Glass spread the video to everyone and the loved ones were just sent it first. And I don’t see the secret society as being done. I see it as they will have to step out of the shadows and become more of a present. Maybe even getting into politics. As the secret capabilities of super humans are out, there will be more people coming to accept their powers and hone their skills instead of just shrugging it off as it was a cool fluke. So the society will have to take more blunt measures. The way I see this movie, it sets up the entire universe that there truly are super humans and a society that is out to stop them all. And what I like about these hero’s is that they have limits. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t Bruce’s weakness to water because of his trauma? Just like beating the beast is love and Kevin’s name which goes back to the trauma of his mother? Or it could be Bruce is like a rock and rocks sink in water. But I like the idea that the persons fears are their weakness. Makes them more human than hero. And dude I was pissed too when I saw them in therapy in the trailer. I was like there is so much evidence of Bruce’s strength and durability. Just try and cut him and watch the knife break lol. But then it wasn’t about convincing the shrink but the shrink making them doubt what they already know even with the amount of evidence they have in favor of themselves. No matter what one is confident in, there is always that tiny seed of doubt. And scratching that seed of doubt is one thing but if you can get someone to scratch their own doubts, you can manipulate them. It happens in politics, relationships, friendships. Everywhere. I could be just interpreting it all wrong but it’s a movie so let me enjoy it the way I see it. Lol. Also what I saw is that it looks like psyche does effect ones powers. Doubting ones self will reduce ones powers. Glass and Bruce’s powers do seem to be genetic. But kevins is all mental. If Bruce’s trauma is what causes his weakness then psyche does effect his powers. Which is just like real life. People who doubt themselves and can’t over come their demons are doomed to wallow in their own self loathing. It’s got that believe in yourself message is what I’m saying. Lol. The topic of hope and belief is a great topic that I personally love when conveyed in a clever way
I remembered watching one of the oldest animation iteration of Superman with the narrator noting one of his feats as “He could leap over a tall building in a single bound!” Which at first was silly since he could fly, but realized that he probably didn’t know he could until later in his series.
I honestly had no hope whatsoever for this movie, but its actually really amazing to me. I honestly love this movie. I think people just automatically assumes that since its labeled as a ‘superhero’ movie they immediately have a pretty strong bias to what they think the story should be due to the fact that the genre is pretty much dominated by Marvel. Marvel movies are generally lighthearted in tone and although we occasionally have darker moments in the movie, it almost always ended up with a pretty happy ending not counting IW. Due to the nature of the films, superheroes in Marvel are also generally much more fantastic and... well, super. They also always have a clear cut winner in the end be it the heroes or in the case of Infinity War, the villain. And whenever there is death in a Marvel movie its usually not too consequential like Yondu and Freya, even in Infinity War we all know that most if not everyone will get revived in some way in Endgame. Compare that to the universe Glass takes place in, its a whole different set of rules. The ‘superheroes’ in Glass are way more grounded in reality (well as grounded as being bulletproof can be) compared to those of Marvel. In fact I’d argue they’re not even superheroes/villains, but rather regular people who just happens to have superpowers. The movie ends with a bittersweet victory, with the main characters dead while the existence of superhumans are now out in the open. This ending IMO is the exact opposite of a Marvel movie ending. Deaths that actually hold significant weight to the story, a sacrifice to pay for the ultimate goal and an ending with no clear cut winner. I honestly don’t think theres anything wrong with that. I think that with how saturated the superhero genre is with Marvel, people automatically thinks that if it doesn’t resemble a Marvel movie then its not a good movie. I mean look at Aquaman, which performs really well in cinemas because it follows the Marvel movie formula. I think that people came into the cinemas to watch Glass, expecting something similar to the Avengers, and was disappointed to learn that it isn’t an Avengers movie. Well of course you won’t be getting the Avengers feel from this movie, its not about kind-hearted and quirky gaggle of superheroes teaming up to save the world. Almost every critics I see rates this movie as horrible or disastrous or disappointing but at the same time whenever I see comments from someone who isn’t a movie critic they generally enjoy the movie. Don’t get me wrong there are unnecessary plots in Glass, like the secret clover organization thing, which we could do without. But honestly I don’t think people are treating this movie fairly... And as someone who absolutely loves the superhero/comicbook genre, its just a little disappointing to me that a lot of people are so opposed to changes and deviations from the standards. Then again maybe I’m just rambling, who knows.
The oshka building was a misdirect by Mr. Glass because his real intention was just for The Beast And David to have a showdown for the security cameras would catch it and he had a link for it to be sent to his mom and the other two supporting characters.
The water tank was there because that's the water they used to put up the safety precautions for David. Just before he's shown in the room with the pipes there's a shot of the tank outside, basically another Chekhov's gun. I also appreciate how they had Sarah Paulson's character have damp hair in the first few scenes after Overseer/Beast are captured, because it was raining.
i think the moment he touched the psychiatrist and learned the secret organisation and the motive they had, he started to accept his death hence why he didn't fight when he was drowned.
@@vigymuhamad3360 That still doesn't explain how water can kill him though...as 70% of his body is water, plus the fact that he has to consume water on a daily basis. It's simply a flaw in the character's design. Why didn't Shyamalan make his weakness something else...like fresh cream or cupcakes?
I feel bad for this series. This movie was so unfinished-feeling with its filming, acting and story that it ruined the movie and created a whole new aspect of the series which was supposed to have only 3 movies.
I’m very confused by everyone I’m seeing here saying “people didn’t like it because they were expecting a Marvel movie”. Who? Why world anyone expect that? It wasn’t marketed like that, it’s a sequel to Unbreakable/Split, so I’d assume most people who went to see it liked those films and since they’re not at all like Marvel movies, there’s no reason to be expecting a Marvel blockbuster. I wanted to see a good conclusion to two films I enjoyed, with David and Kevin as the main characters. What I got was a boring, unentertaining, and insulting end to a story that began 19 years ago, all that wait for this shit.
When people say they expect a Marvel movie, they mean the Marvel movie format. Heroes vs Villains with heroes teaming up with friends to overcome obstacles to grow into better people and defeat the villain (or in the case of Infinity War, get defeated by the villain). And from the looks of things, thats exactly what you expected too.
I didn’t want a marvel movie. Believe me I love Batman and all of th DC movies. And I’m a huge fan of th MCU as well. I knew what I was getting into bc I saw unbreakable when it came out and was blown away by how grounded and realistic this super hero movie was. But it was such a let down watching Glass. He had so much potential to create an epic conclusion but instead it felt lazy and just rushed out instead of rlly crafting something memorable and worthy of th universe he created with Unbreakable.
I'm curious, if you had your way how would the movie had gone? I thought it had the same energy/tone as the previous movies. When you say "boring, unentertaining" it makes me think you want more action packed movie like the Marvel movie but maybe you mean something else I'm not thinking of. What would have made it more "fun"?
Luissv72 Insulting to me? No. Insulting to the character of David? Hell yeah, they drowned him in a puddle. M. Night sure did want he wanted to do, he defied people’s expectations, at the expense of creating a dissatisfying and idiotic ending to a character we’ve been waiting to see for 19 years.
I loved Glass. I went in with the mindset that I was going to go along with anything this movie throws at me. And it was a wholly unique experience. Doing anything else with this movie would make it another superhero movie. This ending takes us on a different path and if he continues with this series it'll be interesting to see what happens. But the point of the movie was about legacy. David Dunn was human and went out like a human, but with the release of the videos he became a god that he could never be. Glass knew this and exploited it to spark something new.
i saw this movie with my little brother, we had both heard bad/not so stellar reviews of it, but we ended up liking it...i personally thought it was a decent enough movie....there were a couple of things that bothered me, but mainly this: when paulson's character near the end was like "we aren't executioners (or whatever)" i was like...DUDE, YOU GUYS LITERALLY KILLED DUNN!!! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, LADY?! smh
I liked the movie a lot minus some specific things. Obviously it would be better if David stayed alive. His story arch was weak but not necessarily bad or a waste. I didn't like the inconsistency of how water affected David. In 'Unbreakable' David's weakness is that he can't swim cause the composition of his body and weight. But in 'Glass' water worked like kryptonite. That's a retcon that didn't work for me. I can stipulate that the end was underwhelming and there somo plo-tholes that can distract the attention of the viewer. But for me the movie was not a disappointment. I really try to avoid expectations for any movie. My only expectation is for a movie to be good enough for me to like. I never create expectations about wanting to see specific things in a movie. To feel excitement about a movie is okay but never if it becomes overhype. People should learn to manage better their excitement and expectations. That way they can appreciate a movie for what it is and not for what they wanted to see. If the people don't like the movie is fine but at least is because understandable reasons. That been said, fan or not of Shyamalan, I think he deserves credit to be willing to keep creating original films that stay away from the norm ('The Last Airbender' and 'After Earth' aside). A lot of people complain that cinema is saturated with franchises, sequels, reboots or remakes of known IP's but when a guy like Shyamalan make original stories with a distinctive style then he's label as an egocentric turd. I think that's not fair.
Yeah it was really slow at first, the pacing but got better Mr glass did not have much screentime, only 10 minutes i think and he was high as fuck 5 minutes long David dunn? More like david dull I'd say But the horde was really good The twists were OK
@@CarloisBuriedAlive I think he meant people want more sequels like the marvel universe, but mnight didn't want to make more cuz he doesn't know how he'd make the sequel
apa kek yg enak the thing is, Glass was exactly like a Marvel sequel - previous “origin” film characters coming together for the first time in a big team up movie. They’ve done that dating back to the Universal Monsters in the 1940s. This series usually takes conventional comic book tropes and subverts them and makes them more realistic, and he definitely did that with Glass, but imo the writing wasn’t as good as the first two movies, the “twist” came way too late and forced the film to confront an entirely new villain with only a few minutes left, and the experience felt somewhat incomplete yet with zero direction to follow up on. There seemed to be no point for the movie to exist.
For me it was the opposite. I only saw split and hadn’t watched unbreakable when I watched this movie and the whole superhero angle seemed super corny to me. I enjoyed the movie overall but there were definitely a lot of moments that made me cringe n took me out the movie.
@@dogsbreakfast4952 judging by your name im going to assume you're in the wrong but enlighten me. How exactly is the idea that a character gets a shitty death on purpose a bad one?
I wouldn’t say Casey was friends with those girls. They were part of her art class that the girl invited for her party. She felt she had to invite her. Also, I think Casey feels a connection to Kevin with them both being abused by a family member. Like Kevin says in split “ you are pure” and has seen how horrible the world can be and not everyone is lucky to have parents that don’t abuse you.
You mean creating a confusing movie when you expected a masterpiece? Or taking a good movie and making it mediocre? Or just throw an ensemble cast of actors together and hope something like a story sticks to the wall? :P
Yeah a twist can be shocking and change the tone of the movie without leaving the audience disappointed. Imagine if the protagonist in the Village before reaching the road just fell over and drowned in a puddle ending the movie. Or if the family in Signs were just nuked from orbit by the aliens in the third act. Shocking yes. Disappointing? Yes.
A man that can punch through steel and move 6 men around like small children is drowned in a shallow ass puddle.....smh. That was very disappointing. It would be like the Hulk choked out by Loki...just doesn't make sense. Weakness or not, he had enough strength to break the water container but not enough to roll over? Come on man!
@@Supernatural1978-OG he just broke the tank though. Meaning he had enough strength to break that container not enough strength to simply role over? Doesnt make sense. The logic then would be he cant take showers or walk/fight in the rain because he might get wet. So technially in the first fight between Dunn and Beast when they fell outside, if they didnt get stopped then the Beast would have shredded him.
Who got his ass beat by 1 crazy murderer guy and had to be saved by children before going and trying it again. Dunn is strong but he's not good at fighting, AT ALL. And just because he's strong doesn't mean he can easily get out of holds, especially when he's being drowned (your strength drops dramatically as your blood oxygen level does).
Dunn didn’t really break out the tank. The tank too damage on their way in and he simply exploited the weakness because of the crack - that was continuing to crack along the sides.
How is that any worse than Superman getting beaten like a redheaded step child in Superman Returns because he was standing on a giant chunk of kryptonite? In context it fits.
My favorite scene was Joseph telling Kevin what really happened to his dad, I found that to be the most interesting part of the movie. It was really lame the way they killed David though the whole point was about using their weaknesses to do them in.
@@trod146 so? No one brings up 99% of the topics in the comment section. It's called people being able to talk about whatever they want whenever they want wherever they want
I think that's shyamalan's point here, super humans cannot pass their powers through genes(like we've seen sometimes) and that they are not overpowered, they just exist. Now even I feel that maybe we are over romanticising heroes.
I wanted this so bad, but frontline dev has a point. regardless, it was super awesome to bring back the original son from unbreakable. omg, he hadn't changed! that was the highlight of the movie for me. :)
In Unbreakable when David is being informed that he's 1 of 2 survivors we see a person bleeding out in the foreground. I wonder if that was Kevin's Father?
I actually think taking classic cliched expectations and just shitting on them is fantastic. David dying in a puddle in a parking lot is an example of being comic book fantastic and gritty real
Honestly, I agree with you. People dislike the movie because it went against the trope of superhero movies. Glass was pretty well done if you’re watching it with a different mindset. Heroes don’t always die heroically. That’s just realistic and also makes their deaths more tragic. That could’ve been a major blessing to the world, but the possibility has been snuffed out. In a way, I like to think that M. Night read Worm and that he wants to create a superhero franchise that’s gritty and grounded.
Glass has a similar plot to Godzilla King of the Monsters. Heros(Kaiju) exist and a group is trying to hide them. But there is no eco-terrorist using the hero's to rebalance the Earth.
Did anyone mention to the narrator that THE BEAST NEVER "Bear Hugged" Mr. Glass to "Break his bones in his back"....not sure if u were watching but he just put his hand on his shoulder which broke some bones then palm hit him in the ribs....which rolled him back eventually falling out of his wheelchair and breaking bones while falling. No bear hug on Glass buddy.
I feel Bruce Willis has aged a lot since unbreakable. Certain scenes were too much for his body. It was very clear with the up-close shots of the fighting scenes. But overall the movie was pretty good. I agree the 3 twists were all over the place. And without Kevin and the hoard, the movie would have sucked.
Keywonia Spencer - he can do action scenes just fine. Look at all th recent Die Hard movies. He just didn’t have proper scenes to act it up in. Most of th first fight had that stupid camera angle showing a closeup of David’s face. It could’ve been a rlly dope fight scene. But it started off strong and after 15/20 minutes th movie just went completely downhill. Such a letdown. It had so much potential
Did anyone else notice that in the credits they credited James MaCavoy with all 23(?) of his personalities. Even the ones that weren’t in the movie
M.Lerner9 that’s cool
they probably recorded a couple scenes with other ones and decided to scrap them
they could have just said, The Horde: James McAvoy
But did u notice that the person he actially was, Kevin Wendell Crumb, was where James McAvoy's name was next to? Nice touch on a cool credit scene
I like how you saw him in the reflection of the girls computer climbing the wall and how in shock she was when she noticed.
James McAvoy deserves an Oscar for playing at least 24 different personalities in one movie!
feather firework annnnnnnd we tried that last year, and lost again.🙁🙁🙁
@@RUclipsSun1 Because like politics the Oscars are rigged
I'm just a subscriber making sure one of my favourite channels r getting their facts straight :-) peace and love to u all
feather firework or at least nominated! He could have over acted but didn’t. Hard role to pull off and he did it and did it extremely well!!
Never forget. Glass's plan from the beginning was to find and expose the truth of living gods to the world. That was his only goal ever. Nothing else.
"living gods" Not sure how being super strong makes you a "god" but okay... maybe if they were superman level but calling them "gods" is ridiculous, they are superhuman at best.

Alot of extraordinary things can be explained down with the basis of Science but that doesn't change the overall facts that these people do IN Fact have extraordinary abilities. The "pathetic death" of the 3 felt more real than going to a massive tower to fight

I think the bear hug is more akin to an anaconda choke. The way the Beast's grip gets tighter after every squeeze is on the dot.
The ending doesn't conclude the story, instead it just asks more questions and begs for a sequel. I figured some of the characters would die, but David died like a chump. The whole movie, I hated Sarah Paulson's character. I knew it was intentional, but I was hoping the beast would kill her.

You were rooting for the organization?
jokes on you, Shyamalan was the *real* villain
Yeah but he died in a puddle
Arthemise Jean well my name is awesome, and about the real world thing, do you really believe this is how it would go down? The government woul either try to control those with powers or kill them on the spot, trying to convince them that they dont have powers is the type of stupid shit shyamalan puts in his movies like the water thing in signs
@Arthemise Jean such an idiotic plan would never take place in the real world, they would be classified as national security threats and therefore way more thought and resources would be poured in, and the plan Stable came up with was stupid, the fact that it almost worked in the movie is bad writing
Here's how I sum up the ending...M Night pulled the old "Kill em All" card which hasn't gone over well since MacBeth in an attempt to be shocking.
His actions will ensure that a lot more Overseers come to be and with that said can we even call him a villain anymore?
Same I ugly cried at Kevin's death it is so gut-wrenching especially when you add up his history and overall story arc.

Now, anyone that has such gifts that might have otherwise written it off as "Gee, that's neat," may start to question if they're really one of the Exceptionals.

Lol. The topic of hope and belief is a great topic that I personally love when conveyed in a clever way
But in comics characters rarely ever stay dead and always come back
But this is supposed to be almost real so they can't really come back
Yo go for dark dc

Then again maybe I’m just rambling, who knows.
spot on.
I fully agree.
Same reason why critics always give DC and Fox marvel movies a hard time
I literally just got an ad for the movie glass while watching this video
I don't care what anyone says. I loved Glass. Such a great and long awaited ending to a fabulously written story.
Watching Kevin die made me cry. He was my favorite character :(
The oshka building was a misdirect by Mr.
I’m sad we didn’t see the tower fight but man the ending made up for it to me
I flipping loved it
I loved Glass, especially the 3rd act. Remember, this is the real world
“Movie”

How do you kill David that easily, in a puddle, REALLY!!!!
He was already hurt from the fight remember ? His son was like my dads over there hes very hurt
i think the moment he touched the psychiatrist and learned the secret organisation and the motive they had, he started to accept his death hence why he didn't fight when he was drowned.
How can David's weakness be water, when 70% of his body is fluid?
@@conalcochranh3274 traumatic childhood experience
Insulting? You're a child.
I love these 3 films it seams we are on the same wavelength when it comes to understanding films.
David Dunn dying to a random police officer is like Batman dying to an 8 year old.
I love that you have a copy of the film May in the background. No one talks about May
The reason David probably died of a puddle was because remember he was still recovering from the tank
i saw this movie with my little brother, we had both heard bad/not so stellar reviews of it, but we ended up liking it...i personally thought it was a decent enough movie....there were a couple of things that bothered me, but mainly this: when paulson's character near the end was like "we aren't executioners (or whatever)" i was like...DUDE, YOU GUYS LITERALLY KILLED DUNN!!! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, LADY?! smh
Cool the ending is basically what magneto was trying to do in XMen
Yeah it was really slow at first, the pacing but got better

apa kek yg enak the thing is, Glass was exactly like a Marvel sequel - previous “origin” film characters coming together for the first time in a big team up movie.

Exactly
The more I see your personality (and not just listing the movie’s events) the more I like it.

Yes.
Yeah, they forget that the whole point of the movie is to entertain and satisfy, taking us away from the disappointment of reality.
That David drowning scene... YIKES
Tallest building in Philadelphia.
Mr. Glass really did know what was going on with the secret society and took precautions.
Joe Bonanno He was weak from the tank already.
Love this movie so much, I cant wait until it comes out so I can have the whole thrillogy
My favorite scene was Joseph telling Kevin what really happened to his dad, I found that to be the most interesting part of the movie. It was really lame the way they killed David though the whole point was about using their weaknesses to do them in.
