Chandeliers typically weigh 40-50 pounds and the one that fell on the collector had knives strapped on it. That chandelier should have killed the collector. But that plot armor was stronger.
He would survive with one condition: every knife and blunt force had to miss vital areas all along his body, and I mean it: arteries, veins, nerves, bones, organs, everything that normally makes the human body a clockwork. If that happens and the wounds were treated immediately, he'd have a chance of survival but the pain would be too unbearable even to lift an arm. The plot armor is not just effective, it's a medical miracle.
i really hate this trope of scary movies, the victims fall into a trap? 999.999 damage the killer gets impalled by 12 knives? 2 damage... probably 1. Also, now has teleportation abilities
True, like some characters have a excuse like a regeneration ability but then some dont its odd, for me the part that confuses me is 1 the van wasn’t damaged and 2 do the screen writers even know how much a ambulance weighs? Those things are VERY heavy and the amount of energy needed to flip one would cause a hell of a lot of damage
@Black Cash When you stand with your arms extended outwards horizontally. Usually used in video games as the raw models for characters are usually seen T posing so you can see every feature, but internet culture made it a meme and now people do it for comedic purposes
Something that's easy to miss in this movie is that Arkin actually recognises the killer from earlier in the movie - he's one of the exterminators from the beginning of the film. It's not obvious but it explains the killer's affinity with the spider, his love of traps, and his ability to access and rig the house in the first place.
I actually quite liked this because of the non-traditional protagonist: a thief who isn't really involved that then has to choose if he's going to help or GTFO. The sequel was meh.

In the alternate ending the main guy escapes, sees the girl in the window, flips her off with both hands and leaves. Im suprised he didnt talk about it.
10 minutes into the video, round the time of where the serial killer is saving the spider. All I can think of is this really old story of a man who was evil and died, causing him to go to hell. But because the one good deed he did in life was save a spider, the spider weaves him a strong thread 🧵 so he can climb his way to heaven. But unfortunately he was mad about the other sinners trying to climb up along behind him and started kicking them back down, so Buddha cut the thread saying he was not worthy of being saved or something. So when I see the serial killer saving the spider, it makes me think that maybe deep down he just a little superstitious or something. Sorry for the rant 😅
I love the deleted joke ending for this movie. When Arkin escapes the house and hears Hannah banging on the window, and sees the Collector downstairs, he just flips off the little girl and house, and just walks away.
The reason I love this more than any of the Saw moives is because the protagonist uses traps to fight back as well. Like- in the other movies it's a mystery and a bunch of people that try to play these games and get killed one by one. In this one the protagonist manages to outsmart the killer in his own game a few times, managing to get quite the number of good hits on him. Like a balanced battle between two fighters, but with traps and murder.
I really enjoyed this movie. Arkin tried his hardest to save the family. It was like a really annoying escort mission where the npcs keep activating all the nearby traps and running into any danger they can find. The youngest daughter handled the situation better than the adults. That ending tho. He never got to go home to his own daughter T-T

So! I first watched the sequel and feel in love with the high stakes puzzle solving. I went to my local rental place and found the collector assuming it was the sequel i rented it and i was shocked and excited to know that this was the origin! I love this franchise.
I think the most impossible thing to me in this whole movie was the Collector FLIPPING AN AMBULANCE! Those things are basically second to armored trucks in weight and strength on the road when it comes to four wheeled vehicles! No matter how hard you hit that thing you are NOT going to flip it, at best you’re going to do some damage to it, but flipping it? Nah. Edit: AND HE STILL DROVE AWAY!? His car would be completely out of commission from that collision!
Nope. Look through the animal kingdom, it aint pretty stuff man. Humanity is a solid five of fucked upness while there are animals out there that are a ten.

NZ25 1) Matter of opinion 2) Why y’all copy and pasting this to many replies over a movie explanation? Chill, Holmes 👌🏻 3) Personally, I value animals more bc like many, I see them as more ‘pure’ compared to humans. In the end though, no one’s life - regardless of species - should be more or less valuable. Personally, THAT feels morally kinda warped. But hey, ‘tis my opinion and I respect yours! I’m just... It’s no.2 that’s blowin my mind rn tbh- Genuinely curious and not trying to be rude btw! I’m just not great with wording shit 🤷🏻♀️
Those eyes had me thinking if The Collector's some type of creature, but now understanding his love for spiders, his eyes are probably just contacts that resembles the black sparkling eyes which spiders have.
I personally love this film. And saying it's like Saw. No. I feel it's far more similar to an 80s Slasher film. I get that the Saw folks wrote it. Saw has this philosophical bit behind it with a ton of plot twists and turns. This is a classic killer tries to kill people. He doesn't just use traps as he also uses knives and weapons against others. He would fit right in in Mortal Kombat along side Leatherface and Jason. It's a modern slasher film and has a main character that doesn't suck. Like I actively wanted our thief turned hero to win and save the girl. When he gets caught at the end I was super pissed off. But that's also a theme of old Slasher films. The good guys might get away but that doesn't mean they're safe. I don't think this is in the same category as Saw. Saw spends time on the traps, it explains them, each one as a theme. The trapped house here is the setting. A setting that the character has to navigate. It's not the plot. The traps in Saw are just that. The plot. They drive everything. Here we are more concerned with the villain and the traps he's laid. See the difference. Jigsaw wanted to indoctrinate people, this dude wants to hunt people. Those are very different things.
.... It's still like saw tho. And it was literally written as part of the saw franchise. I agree with some of the things you said, but, it's def like saw.
Probably for the same reason some acids can be stored in glass just fine, but would eat through other materials such as plastic or metal...rubber shoes and human/animal organic tissues could definitely be damaged by acid, while the cement would have no reaction depending on its chemical makeup. No plot Armour needed, simple science explains it.
“I guess I’m the type of guy who’s even more bothered by seeing animals hurt then people”...... that’s why we love you!!! Kudos to the collector for saving the spider 🕷 but couldn’t he have spared the kitty 🐱 too?! 😿

Watching these movies through him, because I can;t afford rentals or buys. 😎
@@LadyCoyKoi well you always have torrent for that
I'm so over these movies where the killer is invincible.
I know right its so lazy, and it makes the main characters efforts feel invalidated because "Oh he can't die because he just can't"
me too, this is so lame
No, it won't I'm pointing out that, the trope is lazy and brought down the movie by a lot.
@JOHN JOHN *YES*
The movie would have been better without that. The idea is amazing, but yeah.
I didn't know the collector was a Slipknot fan

In my headcanon, The Collector is an adult, disturbed Kevin McAllister.
There was a theory that said Jigsaw was literally that
It makes sense. His family was always leaving him so he’s collecting a new one
@@amberkelly3187 BUT HEYYY, THAT'S JUST A THEORY, A FILM THEORY.
What if it’s a dude who is a kid trapped in an adults body doing things that seem playful to him but torture in real life
Not gonna lie, I kinda love the alternate ending (Where Arkin just leaves once outside instead of going back for Hannah) more than the studio one.
What happens in the alternative ending?
Black_Panda He literally says in the comment.
That must have been a short boring movie then.
I actually think this ending works. I haven't seen it but when I watched this movie I did think he's putting his own wife and daughter in massive danger to the loan sharks. It was a terrible choice either way.
Yea f Hannah if he has the money

I actually saw this and the second one! They were actually GOOD! Too bad they are held to high standards due to there fellow saw like films.
To be honest, it's much more better than most of the films saw made. That's just my opinion though.

WHY ARE YOU EVERYWHEREEE
8:47. It’s because animals are so much more innocent then humans
Nope. Look through the animal kingdom, it aint pretty stuff man. Humanity is a solid five of fucked upness while there are animals out there that are a ten.

That's fucking hilarious. It's a horror movie. And you say he is a person with a heart while he shows humans dying. Are you a furry or some shit? Fp
Literally showed a guy disemboweled lol that just means we find more worth in animals we can't even touch vs strangers even in a movie where neither is actually injured.

Haven't heard of it. Is it good ?
Whats it about ?
I'm totally onboard to see him explain this movie.
MIKE & PAM GRAGG It's based on a Stephen King story 1408, about a writer-ghost hunter who visits haunted hotels to prove that ghosts don't exist and he books a haunted room where many people killed themselves because

Yes
Anyone who unironically values an animal's life over a human's life is socially impaired at best and morally perverted at worst. Change my mind.
Shows dog get burned and blast to pieces
Eh who cares
NZ25 1) Matter of opinion
2) Why y’all copy and pasting this to many replies over a movie explanation? Chill, Holmes 👌🏻
3) Personally, I value animals more bc like many, I see them as more ‘pure’ compared to humans. Omg that's why I only watch his videos in the morning / afternoon
what's up with the collector's creepy sparkly eyes ?
Those eyes had me thinking if The Collector's some type of creature, but now understanding his love for spiders, his eyes are probably just contacts that resembles the black sparkling eyes which spiders have.
i think it has something to do w the spider thing. idk bt its affective

This movie was so underrated
FACTS!!!!!!!!
GundamGoku YOU AINT KAKAROT
Very well explain
.... It's still like saw tho. And it was literally written as part of the saw franchise. I agree with some of the things you said, but, it's def like saw.

Why didn’t the substance melt the floor?
Yuki_100 oh my shit that hurts my 🧠
Plot armor?
Probs can't melt cement
Probably for the same reason some acids can be stored in glass just fine, but would eat through other materials such as plastic or metal...rubber shoes and human/animal organic tissues could definitely be damaged by acid, while the cement would have no reaction depending on its chemical makeup. No plot Armour needed, simple science explains it.
