      Arkin endured stuff like that since the first movie, one of the most badass characters I've seen on the big screen in my entire life. Taking blows, cuts, explosions and broken bones like a champ because he's pure determination and doesn't want pain to stop him anymore, always thinking he'll have time to suffer from his injuries after he's done the job.His psychology is really nice as a horror/slasher main character tbh, one of the few times where the main is deadlier than the murderer, the same formula they used to create Ripley from Alien. They are not action heroes, they are pure will and determination heroes.

      Like that doofus cop "Dewey" from the Scream series... Paramedics in a sequel told him, (after he'd survived another-nother stabby-stab-stabbing), that the first time was a miracle, but then afterward, it was accumulated scar tissue that basically saved him from bleeding out... In reality, he'd be unable to fu*king move if that was the case, but horror movie logic don't have to make sense, only to be exposed as fact. Ask Jason!

      with a name like 'the Collected' I think that arkin and maybe some the other survivors from the other two movies are going to become the new "Collectors" who target serial killers, rapists, bad people, etc. Or maybe they create an elaborate trap maze for the collector to go through, possibly ending with the collector almost escaping, but failing. I'm mostly interested in that thought because, if the Collector was the 'protagonist' of the trap maze, we could get some more insight into his past.

      He's a thief. And unlike serial killers, there is honor among thieves. So I loved that it not only showed that he can use the darkness just as effectively, it's that he can use the exact same tactics the Collector uses in the same manner for vastly different goals. Like say... Figuring out on a list of 14 entomologists that he was number 12. Collector has already proven he could track someone down. Arkin was not a good man, but he definitely wasn't a bad guy. and I think the fact he starts the saga as a thief is why that scene is so cool. We already saw his honor when he went back in for a little girl in the first movie and agreeing to help save the young woman. We had seen his practical skills of breaking and entering. We got to see all the markings of his criminal behavior become the reason he was a hero. Including the sneaky use of shadows and misdirection. All the things that made him unsympathetic in the beginning of the first movie.

    I'm glad Arkin got to track the collector down and give the piece of shit what he deserved, but it doesn't quite make sense at the end. Both of his arms got broken during all of this, plus he got stabbed in the cheek. So, that final scene with him in the collector's home does not add up.

    • @LaCrownedGamer
      @LaCrownedGamer 5 лет назад +160

      I'm assuming he healed up and researched before finding him. He did say he was number 12 on the list after doing major research.
      It can be assumed after having to burn his entire collection the killer took a hiatus, went back to his normal life until the story is less fresh. (Which real serial killers are known for having months or years between killing sprees) With how many he killed that would take a long time.
      What also wasn't mentioned was the girl who got out with him, in an extended cut of the ending she is seen waiting in a unknown area for him to come back with the killer to torture him. So one can assume she helped in his recovery since they both had a common goal of wanting to see the killer get his just desserts. (An assumption yes but plausible)
      Simply I think it's been a few months to a year, arkin healed, researchers, gets his own tools ready. While the killer thinks he has gotten away freely and can live a normal life till he can kill again. But... Then the ending happened and he gets stuffed in his own trunk.

    I honestly like the first movie better. I like the mystery of the collector, how he just shows up, sets the traps and hunts everyone. His weird glow in the dark eyes and his mask which seems very based/inspired by Mr. Cruel's, a real life serial house invader in Australia. The first one is a masterpiece.
    The second film is a good movie but his presence on the first makes it way scarier.

    • @Tyler-ko8dp
      @Tyler-ko8dp 3 года назад +2

      100% agreed. The second film just felt a bit like a Saw movie to me. The first movie was so weird, how he just shows up out of the blue and then next thing there are traps set. If I were the writer, I wouldn't know where to go for the 3rd one, because we've already seen the Entomologist/collector in his home now, and pretty much taken in by Arkin. I am really worried about the 3rd movie...because they've lost that mystery after the 2nd film ending. We as viewers, don't feel powerless now that we know Arkin has him.
      The thing is, if the third movie is just reeling out more traps, then a face to face fight with knives, it's going to feel too same-y. Something else needs to happen now. Bring back the mystery, make us fear WITH Arkin, give the Collector the upper hand.

      He is 60 something years old or at least that what i got watching this video(have not seen the movie in awhile). Has that abandoned hotel that is quite literally filled witg bodies some decomposed down to bones others not so much. Then yah he has been doing this for a long time. The traps in the first were more strategic then complicated. While the traps in the second are more complicated but are on his own turf.

    • @MasterGamer12234

      @@strenuousspider9525 Missed that part of age, but makes sense.
      But yeah. More or less threw it as a joke that how he remembers his traps. But for real tho, human memory is pretty insane, for example in a FPS game the guy who has 100h on map will know even the smallest detail of the map, all angles, rotations etc. So remembering some strategic traps, is pretty simple.
      It just raises the question, before he learned all of the traps, did he ever fuckup and injure himself?
      Also some of the traps are placed at certain heights and just as a hypothetical. Would a midget be able to activate the traps and be pretty much safe from them? :?
      And if so. Did he just learn to eyeball the peoples heights and choose them? Because now thats a funny thought that a guy of the size of peter dinklage almost escaped because of the traps being placed at certain heights!
