I was terrified of her story as a kid, it was the chicken legs on the house that really creeped me out.

Baba yaga is a very interesting mythological figure, and one that really deserves more attention. She is indeed a murderer and a cannibal, however she is also sometimes highly benevolent, and just as often acts with no rhyme or reason at all. Like the vampire she is obsessive compulsive, possessed by an urge to count both spoons and the fingers of dead men. Russians used to tell their children that sounds they heard during the night was Baba Yaga coming into the house to count their spoons.
She's a little bit of everything in Russian mythology. She taught Kostej the Deathless his magic, but also gave Ivan Tsarevich the magic items used to slay him. She's the sort of magic being you can make bargains with, but will ask for really weird and unexpected things in return, and will become enraged over tiny pointless details of the arrangement being overlooked.
In summary, she's the sort of supernatural creature to stalk you for days, attempt to strangle you while your on the toilet, then reveal to you the location of buried treasure after you survive. After retrieving the treasure and being rich beyond your wildest dreams you would come home only to discover that her objective the entire time was just to get you out of the house while she stole all the dirty socks out of your hamper.

@@benp9793 First of all, just learn to take a joke. Second of all, John Wick movies are pretty darn good, imo. If you don't like them, that's fine since everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Third of all, I think most of us here know Baba Yaga is from folklore. And I have fairly useless information so here it is: Babayaka is a term that basically means boogeyman and the boogeyman takes misbehaving kids as punishment blah, blah, blah. John kills people as punishment for getting on someone's bad side. What John and Baba Yaga have in common is that they're scary af, people don't want to mess with them and they are being that strike fear into people to cause them to be careful. At the end of the day, it's just a joke so chill

This movie is low key genius! After me and my friends watched this we were sitting there saying "this fucking sucked", but at the end of the day it was a good movie because it had us talking about it for 2 hours about how we can fill in the plot holes and major key details. A movie that keeps the watcher talking about it means it did something right.

Actually, my friend. Baba Yaga (the godlike creature from Slavic mythology) isn’t an evil entity but more of a guardian of the passage between dimensions (as well as all knowing spirit). She (as most pagan gods of Slavs) can be good or evil, depending on who she is dealing with.
Really? I thought that she was evil bc apparently in Russian culture she is interpreted as evil, and benevolent, which one is right? I’m confused😅
@@hardees-1fan Well, depends kinda. I'm from Poland and here Baba Yaga works as Boogeyman of some sort. Many stories about witches are hers to claim, for example about a hag who lives in the house made out of candies and gingerbread and eats children. Yet if you go deeper into mythology she isn't persay evil entity, just rather selfish. Yes, she is a killer, cannibal, but she can be good or evil depending on who she's dealing with and on what, but she usually has some personal interest, perhaps she'll try to trick you, murder you, yet she's really unpredictable and seemingly has no goal. You could bargain with her since she is a really powerful magic godlike creature for example, but I don't think it's recommended. She deserves more attention definitely

I went through something similar and another thing similar to "The Ritual."
A few years ago in our old house.
The house in front of ours was owned by my father's friend/relative but later moved to a different place. Me and 2 of my friends decided to go into the house on a gloomy day. The clouds were thick and look like they were about to fall, a fog was visible, and it felt cold. Entering the house we tried scaring each other as a joke till suddenly the door behind use closed. At first I didn't noticed it till I saw the window behind Carlo closed up. We opened the recently closed door behind us and ran away, as I was running away I felt something grabbed my foot thus resulting in me stumbling. I quickly stood up and continued to ran away. After getting far enough I took a second look at the path I was running on, I thought there was a root the caused me to trip but upon looking at the area I saw no such thing that could make me trip.
This is why I'm afraid of large houses or creepily confined spaces.

Things I hated at the end? The detective not replying to the mothers accusations of him murdering the kids and essentially coming off as guilty for no reason but plot.
And Chloe not telling her mom the cop wasn't responsible and just standing there as he is dragged away and killed , she doesn't say a word about the cop being innocent until they made it home safely...

I remember watching this with my cousin in our camping trailer in the middle of East Texas woods at like 1. It was pitch black and I heard a knock on the side of the camper. I freaked out and looked out and it was just a stray dog. What makes it worse it our door doesnt close, we used a wire to keep the door closed.
