I cover six symptoms of vertebral compression fractures. If you have either of these, please consult your physician.

I had T7, T9, T10 and T12. Before Christmas 2023. The Royal Brisbane Hospital rushed me in quick for a 7 vertebrae decompression fusion in 3 groups. It’s the best thing I’ve had done ever!

I'm in the fortunate position of watching this without any fractures.(although I do have OP in my spine)
I'm hoping to avert fractures and build bone. The diagnosis was a wake up call as well as an introduction to a whole world of self-care..
I'm exercising and living accordingly. This advice and the exercise pointers are so valuable.

I’m suffering compressed fractured vertebra (L2 and T12) it’s very depressing. Pain is always there. I’m on my 2nd week since my doctor told me I have it. There are times I feel okay but once I start moving the pain comes back. Actually I don’t really do much only light activities. Unloading dishwasher is really hard for me. Putting the plates in the cupboard is hard.

I was just diagnosed with a 80 percent compression of my L1 vertebrae. I had no idea I had anything wrong. My posture has changed, not for the better. I’m hoping to find a way to make that better. I just went for a bone density scan today.

I’m only 32 and found out I have a compression fracture on T7. I’ve had it for years but I had no idea. I’ve been complaining about back pain for years as well, the past 2 months it has gotten worse to the point I can do normal everyday tasks like cook or laundry. I have an appointment with a doctor soon but I’m nervous since I’ve had it for so long and I’ve had really bad pain for so long that I will possibly need surgery. I also have osteopenia so I’m thinking that might be that cause.

Sorry to hear that. How are you doing now? I got upper back pain myself. I pulled it earlier today and went to the ER and took X rays but they told me it looked normal but will analyze my results further and send it to my doctor. Hopefully I don't have any small fractures. Upper back still hurts and it's been hours since I injured it.

What would be the best imaging test to diagnose vertebral compression fracture? Is it xrays, Ct scan or MRI?

I had a car accident 15 years ago and had a compression fracture in my T7 bone in my spine. The pain was bad but its was worse when the muscle spasms started. A month ago it got extremely tight around the area. so tight that it makes me sick. Its a very dull pain that won't go away. I have been in Chiro and massage therapy for a month now but nothing helps. I'm to the point where I cannot do anything but lye on heat and take pain pills. How can I get this pain to go away.

What does it mean if you have "chronic" compression fractures in T7-T8. I am only 57 years old but went through surgical menopause at age 28 and could not take hormone replacement therapy due to it being migraine trigger. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis nearly 2 years ago of the thoracic spine. I feel I am not getting good work up or follow up. Recent x-rays in May 2022 did not indicate this but MRI dated 30th of May did show compression fractures but they wrote chronic. PLEASE SOMEONE ADVICE ME!! My plan is to call primary care for follow up as pain management ordered the test. He did not feel I needed a brace etc but told me I need better follow up for osteoporosis. I am on generic Fosamax. On pain medication (not a lot) but very much in pain.

What about loose joints? Is that a thing? I have lost height, had pain, but what provoked the pain usually felt like "something moved" I felt a "chunk".

I suffered an L1 compression fracture after falling off a ladder and landing on my back. You make no mention of people getting fractures from falling and other accidents.

Sorry to hear about your fall from the ladder. The emphasis in this discussion was on individuals with osteoporosis or low bone density. Thank you.

I encourage you to find a physician or physical therapist who knows how to treat compression fractures. In the right hands, you will be fine.
