    it's a good demonstration for doubles players. i do think the first step instead of jumping can keep the body as low as possible in a wide stance, so it is more of an explosive side-shuffle followed by a jump to the side. so you dont waste time going up and down

      Often you go the other side after attacking with a smash so the footwork seem to simulate this.
