Camp Half Blood and the Zoo Truck scene
A very tough decision, the Tunnel of Love sequence will of course be great, seeing my favorite god with Hades will definitely be cool, but if there's one thing I'm really excited about, it's what they're going to do with the Lotus Casino (musical?)
Ares, Medusa part, and the Luke's part at the end of show...tbh I'm excited for every single second of this series

I remember someone saying, when Walker was announced as Percy, that it was perfect, because Percy already is kind of a teenaged Ryan Reynolds.
100%. I remember watching the Adam project interviews before the movie came out and me and my wife were sold on it just for Walker. When he got cast as Percy like a year or two later I was so excited

@@typo1345I know, right? There is so much about Achilles in that last book. I want to see Clarisse go full force sulking in her cabin.
I don't remember when chronologically this moment happens, but I hope in future seasons we will get to see short story about Ares's chariot and Clarisse as well! (It's from demigod files I think)
it's just a shame that the actress is a Zionist and supports Israel's atrocities
My only two doubts were that the CGI may not quite hit the mark and that it might not draw in the casual audience. This non-spoiler review has lessened those doubts.

I was talking to my friend about this last night actually, we both don’t think it’s likely that we get anything beyond the first series but we both really want it and think it would be so cool and that they might consider it as time goes on but if they don’t do all of the books from the first series we’re throwing hands with everyone at Disney personally

@@maingamer6846 I mean we’re currently struggling to get shows to even be finished, they cancel them so early anymore. Plus that’s a huge commitment for everyone that would be required to be there for the long term if they continued. Plus when you think about it that’s roughly 4-5 years from now that we are looking at a potential announcement (if they end up even being able to make all of the PJO books) there’s a good chance that within the next 4 years the show looses traction, die hard fans might still be around but maybe not casual audiences and they’d never move past the first series if their views drop dramatically enough during PJO. It just really doesn’t seem like it’s super likely that we will end up with 2-3 or so series on Disney+ in the Percy Jackson universe as stretching shows like that and getting as much as you can from shows has honestly gone by the wayside if we’re being real. I just think they’re focused on the PJO main series and maybe if they get to season 5 and the engagement is still there and there’s enough demand for it maybe we’ll get something but I’m really not gonna think about that because we have 4-5 years before it could happen regardless.
I was excited to see Jason Mantzoukas in this series especially as Mr. D!! I can't wait to watch the show

I literally fucking called the show was gonna be good when it felt like everyone around was having doubts for reasons like "muh race swap". Really, I'm so fucking happy seeing official reviews being positive, and even praising the cast.
The thing is, there’s a difference between a race swap and casting someone who’s acting, if not appearance, matches the character. And I get it, Disney has done some of those with notable franchises. But this time, it really didn’t feel like race played any factor into this decision. It felt like she was just the best actor for the job, period. There wasn’t any messages about diversity or cramming politics into the story.
At the same time, the people who were complaining about race were also the ones who complained about Annabeth’s hair not being blonde in the movie. Chances are, they really did care that the appearance matched the description in the book, but I’m willing to overlook that because she was great and the show so far was great.
I won't lie I'm surprised they're letting people see half the season early, but I'm glad to hear it was really good
most times when a Disney+ show comes out, press gets to see the first 4 episodes! This includes the marvel shows too

I’ve said it before, but how cool a hogwarts legacy type game in the world of Percy Jackson would be so insanely cool I hope the world gets that big with the success of this show. Excited to see if they get into the next series of books! Hopefully they’ll be able to alongside these actors growing older since so much happens so quickly in the books
I see and understand your idea, but hogwarts legacy was freaky enough being swarmed by inferi and acromantula... I am not sure I want to experience that with the monsters that greek myth game like that would require 😂
SO GLAD you loved it what a relief I can’t wait. Also I just want to shoutout Disney for actually letting Rick himself be in charge of the show. It’s SO rare for authors to actually be put in charge let alone one with a +$100M budget 👏 👏 👏

The way you described the acting within the first 5 minutes is already proof enough that I'm going to fall in love with this show. The PJO series is loved and inspired so many people, and I'm sure this adaptation will add on to that even more. December 20 (or 21st, from where I live) cannot be here sooner! Sally was absolutely my favorite part of the first episode. I like her in the show more than the movie by a million and by golly id even go as far as to say more than in the books. That small moment standing up to stinky gabe, her lines amd the callback at the end. Honestly shes my favorite part so far and i cant wait for more screen time. Beyond that i was just losing myself so deeply in the world seeing things from the books that never got even a mention in the movies. Truely amazing.
Right? As a mom she felt like a MOM. When I was younger I could see myself in Percy, now as an adult I relate more to Sally. I started crying in the first episode when she sacrificed herself for Percy because I know deeply I would've done the same. The emotions hit hard man lol. My son is 8 almost 9 and Percy Jackson has gotten him even more excited about reading ❤

Yes! I just watched the first two episodes. I thought it was good! I would give it like an 8/10 I feel it’s not perfect but it/‘s good. Better than the movies at least. I have a few concerns for the rest of the series and the franchise. But overall I just have some nitpicks and whatnot. But it was pretty good. Excited to see the future of it. (I still like the books tho, nothing can trump the books 😂) or that could just be me. What do you all think?

Just finished watching the second episode 5 minutes ago, there are a few moments missing some minor details, but overall following the books, THEY DID SO MUCH BETTER than the movies. I would have cried at the claim moment if they had all the campers kneel to him like in the books, but honestly, I am super excited when the 3rd episode comes out on the 27th this month. Honestly really impressed with how this series is going.

i'm tearing up just hearing how perfect walker is for percy because he also embodies his sadness/loneliness really well. i'm currently rereading through the first book and just reading about what percy experiences through the first few chapters are just rough. imagine being kicked out of school and then losing your mom in a short span of time... that just sucks and it doesn't stop there cuz throughout the subsequent chapters, percy is still thinking about her mom and wondering if he could save her from hades. like... i can't wait for the show. will probably bawl my eyes out the first two episodes.

Thank you so much for this in-depth-review. Like many other booklovers, my heart was broken by the movies and I was so glad when they were finally canceled. I would have never imagined getting this terrific series that matches the tone and feel of books. We are really living in a crazy world 🙂
You just confirmed that I have to make my dad watch it 🤣 that’s how I know a show I love is objectively good, if I can recommend it to my dad and he loves it. It hasn’t happened since The 100😫🤣 I couldn’t even get him into Stranger Things 😭

The only doubts i still have is still the CGI because on the trailer where it showed Ares it looked rather normal instead of Percy fighting a god, but still hopeful and also worried for lil Manuel Miranda playing Hermes, i like his acting its just I'm not sure if i can be as immersed with alexander Hamilton on the screen yk

I think you’re right I am a huge fan of the books too. A lot of people are that are in their 20s and younger and this series just speaks to so many different groups of people it goes about it the right way. No one’s tokenized. This is exactly what we need right now.
Now my expectations are way higher than before 😂

I just finished the show last night. It has its flaws, but the season was great overall and the Main 3 kids act like the Trio from the pages. Good start. RIP Lance Reddick.
Most of the time I see the movie before I read the book so what they look like won’t matter to me in the slightest Percy Jackson is a book series I love and the only problem I’ll be having is watching the shows and then seeing fan art and then getting confused but I’ll live because if Rick trust them then I can to 😅

Reading the books and watching these episodes i really do like where they’re going with the show. The characters are still growing on me im not going to lie but seeing mr D just made me really happy. I really wish this was more of a new movie adaptation to be honest i feel like it would do soo well. And i hate the way disney plus does releases with the episodes on certain days. Other than that tho i hope they continue to surprise us 👍

This makes my anticipation grow even more. There have been many times when I have doubted the show (mostly it’s reception due to the race swaps) but now I am super excited for Wednesday. Im having a Christmas/ Percy Jackson party with my friends.

Love the books , but One aspect i hope they change for the show is the final battle between Percy n Ares .. like honestly it didn't make a whole lotta sense in the books, how Ares a god with over hundreds of thousands of years of combat experience, and on par in strength with the likes of Zeus, loses easily to a Demigod boy with no battle experience ..
I know percy is the protagonist n all but they really do need to make that scene better, at least, have Percy use the Lightning bolt or some other artifact or something!!

Ares can not beat Posiedon,Percy used the ocean to cut Ares,and Ares admitted he was toying with him. Ares made the mistake of fighting Percy near the biggest ocean on the planet.

Ares has an unfortunate tendency in the myths to get hurt by mere demigods and he's more of a bully. I know Sparta loved him,but everyone else hated Sparta imo.
Percy does have battle experience,and Percy fought so hard and just mananged to make Ares bleed,and Ares would have smited him if The Titan Lord influenced him not to.

I kind of hated it Ngl. They changed and rushed so much. They made Gabe look like a chill dude who was just in between jobs. Like, sure, his relationship with Sally is toxic, but it’s not borderline abusive like it was in the book. Also, Grover introducing Percy to Dionysus and straight up telling him who he was kind of sucked, because they whole scene was supposed to show that Percy actually knew Greek mythology, by making him figure it out himself. They didn’t develop his relationships with Grover or Chiron so far(the first two episodes) making Chiron’s appearance in camp not really be a big deal. In the book, Chiron was Percy’s favorite teacher. He was somebody he could really look up to. We didn’t really get to see that in the show. Clarise is too pretty. She’s a very talented actor, I just feel like the makeup department could have done a better job to make her look more menacing. She just looks like the mean girl in high school, not the revenge seeking daughter of Ares. Annabeth is cool. I was a little concerned because I liked the fact that in the books she fought against the “dumb blonde” stereotype, and I loved that, but I feel like they’re treating her good. Another great actor. I love Dionysus. Great performance. Luke isn’t blonde. He’s okay, I guess, but how hard would it have been to just throw some blonde hair dye on him? It should have been super easy, barely an inconvenience. Oh well. The camp doesn’t seem like much. It’s just a bunch of trees. The cabins aren’t in the right place, nor is the big house, or anything really. Sally straight up murdered a mortal by sending the minotaur crashing into their car, blowing it up. Grover’s still too cool. It’s not as bad as the movie, but it’s definitely not like in the books where he passes out during his first fight crying about food. I feel like most of the entire first episode was done better in the movie, and that’s saying something. And before anybody tries to say I’m wrong, and that I’m remembering the book incorrectly, just know that I literally just re-read the entire first book preparing for this series. It’s crazy to me that they literally had the author from the books heavily involved, and supposedly he even wrote the show, but it still came out this bad
I’m still gonna try to watch it all the way through. I want so badly for it to be good, and maybe it’s just a financial issue. Maybe the second season will be better. I’m still going to support the show. I hope it gets better
Walker is GREAT. He feels like Percy ripped from the book. I love his line delivery and he's made me laugh out loud a few times. As a pretty big book fan, I found the first half of episode 1 to be SUPER rushed. I felt like everything was moving a mile a minute. The confrontation with Mrs. Dodds was underwhelming and the character development of "Mr. Brunner" prior to finding out he's Chiron was pretty non existent. I feel like non book readers are gonna get whiplash from the first episode. After episode 2 it's starting to feel like it has a decent pace now but I still think some pretty important establishing moments were cut out or rushed through.
But now that the quest only has a week, they probably have to speed some of that up and take less time in the casino.
