@@diminuendo61 It’s a band head thing. There’s people on both sides who criticize the other (and sometimes their own). The HBCU band world is WAAAAY more competitive comepared to the drum corps, but we always choose our style over any other. It’s kinda like when’s British person makes fun of America. It’s a matter of pride. (Not to mention that HBCU bands get the most attention out of any style, yet they receive the least amount of funding; just something to think about).
@@benzoentertains The difference is, I’ve never seen corps style people going out on show style videos with the SOLE purpose of being dickheads, and that’s coming from a drum major of a show style school. Competition is competition but the styles are completely different and shouldn’t be compared whatsoever, especially considering most drum corps would kill hbcu bands, technique and volume wise. But yeah I get what you’re saying.
In my day and age, the drum major (or head majorette) was drawn from the marching band, and now it appears that is not necessarily true, which opens up the competition and makes for much greater athletic abilities, and a much more rousing show! Progress.
A drum major’s job is field marshall. To change it to cheerleading is odd. Just because it’s being done here and elsewhere doesn’t change the history and the purpose.

"First off, I don't major in drums" lmao
Committement at it finest, LET MARCHING BAND!!!!!!💖
Man, I very much admire how the drum major flips, can't imagine how stressful it is. Surely takes much practice and confidence. Awesome feat!
He did the splits... how
MonkaS
With his legs
Those weren’t real splits
@@Whosyourdaddy21 its called "jazz splits"
He didn’t
Yall need to watch a HBCU drum major
I literally just thinking that😂😂😂
Right.
if there’s one thing I’ve always wondered it’s why do HBCU folks always try and mess with the corps style people, leave them alone lmao

I didn't know of any DM flipping like that. Interesting tradition tho

Doesn't beat The Best Damn Band In The Land though!!!!!!!!!
I agree 200000000000000 %
I can't disagree. But as one other commentor has noted, the HBCU drum majors rock a style that's hard to top.
:17 seconds in; reporter claims this drum major can’t be replicated. Ohio State is equally talented. Adore all of this as one who’s done it.
me just waiting for the headcam flip to come

the splits?? that is definitely not the splits, come on men do it properly even if it hurts!
WOW so every DM in this Band has done this in the past?
WE ARE PENN STATE!!
@Lele Mason Lmaoo
Hahaha
its a front flip. one.
They didn't show the one he does as the band leaves the field. So he does two.
Into a split, wearing a giant hat, with 100k in person eyes on you. Quite simple I’m sure, that’s why everyone’s doing it
To cool ,way better then dotting the eye ,Ohio state your still behind PENN STATE
So 😎
man please
"coming up next OHIO state!
Not near as good as the Southern State Black College Bands.
Exactly this literally gets done every HBCU football game. But I digress
Their current director went to Bethune Cookman, so there is some influences in their band, but the B1G style has always paralleled HBCU style bands

Yea, this dude didn't even try to steal a bike when he did that flip. Pathetic.
@@John-Adams The fuck you tryna say then? Cuz we can talk about how unseasoned Penn State is compared to HBCU’s
Go Buckeyes !
Ohio State is the best
😁😅😂🤣🤣🤣 That is a N0 for me
how ignurt
Lame
Boring
the splits at the end is dumb and looks ridiculous
