2024 Candidates in order of appearance:
Clayton Callender
Joshua Ford
Nicky Buday
Jaikob Long
Clayton Callender was named head drum major and Joshua Ford was named assistant drum major for the 2024 season.
love how a live band plays all the music
Right! They could have had a recording of the music and just kept replaying it. But! cant expect anything less from TGDBITL
Not just any band but THE BEST DAMN BAND IN THE LAND!
GO BUCKS and Congrats to Clayton and Joshua!! I was drum majorette at my High School back in the late 60's early 70's and I still remember the thrill of game day!
My feelings exactly
Clayton blew me with his skills. Love seeing all that very clean lower body twirling.
That is so hard to make look effortless.
Congrats 1 and 2! 🎉
Was Clayton a really hot time otherwise?
He did what to you 😮
Amazing athletes, everyone! TBDBITL!
Another classic tryout video. Neat
Number 2 was most entertaining from a spectator point. The cartwheel needs work in straight legs. The high kick is great!
Congratulations to all of the candidates who made it this far. Clearly all of them have worked very hard and it shows. *Love and continuously follow TBDBITL* Good luck everyone.
Just watching at home, and I called the picks, Drum Major and Asst., #1 and #2. YAY!
same!
As a proud Ohio State alumni, I loved watching this. Thanks for keeping the spirit and traditions alive!!
I had the two winners reversed, but they were all amazing. Sooo much work and talent goes into their skills. And that tryout is raw .. out there in front where they will be each Saturday.
This is my favorite band in the land, and I have no connection to Ohio State. Great job guys, and a salute to the band.
If I practiced for ten years I could never do that…I admit it!❤
How I’m walking into the club tonight
Outstanding
great tryouts!! It's going to be a great year!!!
Congrats. Everyone did a fantastic try out.
reminds me of rhythmic gymnastics. i thought that they were twirling a baton, but nope, it's a mace.
they're all certainly skilled with the twirls, which is quite difficult and impressive.
Amazing athletes!!
Late spring semester - this is exactly what I remember when I went to college. Nice weather, lots of activity on the athletic fields and mainly making plans for next year. No pro Palestinian or anti Israel BS. Class act Ohio State.
CLAYTON 🔥
I've been following ya'll for a few years now after a random video of these tryouts popped up in my feed. The guy who won that year was named John (can't remember his last name right now, but he was phenomenal) anyway...I'm wondering. Do these kids who audition for drum major also play an instrument and march in the band? I hope so because it would suck to not be a part of the band if not selected for a drum major or assistant. Also, what is the role of assistant DM? Thanks for the video and thanks in advance for answering my questions.
Congrats to the new DM and ADM.
I was a high school solo majorette ... I haven't seen such great twirling in years!! Most of the competitions I see are more rolling and manipulating vs. actual twirling with speed! LOVE THESE GUYS!! It takes years to get that good!!! BRAVO!!!!
Just L O V E watching these youngsters; all so talented ! They really strut their stuff! LOVE the energy and spirit!
I’m from California! They’re ALL great….#1 Clayton can flip! #2 Ford multi-tons! Lol. Both are my picks! Have a winning season!
Must’ve been super difficult in the windy weather
Is that Gym Jordan back there watching the boys?
1 and 3
6:12 WHHAAATTTTTTTt epic
Go Clayton!
Wow, they are so good. Both perfect performances.
Interesting to see the tallest ones presentation is more dramatic and kick strut is highest while the less tall seem to have a higher crisper baton toss. And yet some didn't have the all important deeper back bend. Neet to watch as an observer.
IMHO, Joshua has a stronger try out.
It was really really close for me. Had Joshua really brought it home with the performance routine, I would have given it to him.
Clayton had some really clean, smooth lower leg twirls and interesting old school twirls you don’t really see that much anymore. The drops didn’t take away from the performance.
My score card
March down field
Gave it to Clayton. March and back bend was slightly better. I thought Joshua twirled better in this segment.
(basically a toss up here. It was that close for me)
Performance: Clayton blew me out of the water. I didn’t expect that from him because the twirling during the field march was a slightly tight. The drops were unfortunate, but didn’t take away from the performance. He sold it like the rent was due.
Had Clayton not been there, Joshua would have won this. The routine need a few more highlights.
Aerials: it was a wash for me. Both men are excellent.
I don’t know how OSU scores this. I twirled for 16 years and judged competitions for a few. I’ve watched previous try out and it seems the march is weighted higher than the performance part.
Loved both men 💕Congrats!
I knew it was going to be that order as for winning but have to say Nicky could have been the assistant. Clayton was just better in his athletic abilities. It could have been either way for top 2. JS Congrats! #2024
I am a drum major myself and I will see you guys at drum corp!!! GO BUCKS GO!!!!!❤
They're all so good!
So glad I didn’t have to do this at my audition last week
#2
Was there, OH!
IO!
IO
Beautiful 2024
My Pic was Josh. Congratulations 🎉
#1 and #2 were my favorites but they were all good!
Is Dr. Mikkelson still in charge?
TBDBITL
I thought contestant two was the swiftest and most sure-handed. If number one slips a disk, two will more than save the day.
PWI bands are so funny to me 😅😅😅.
Strange kinda drum majors. They are like expert majorettes. Way different than a drum major from Europe for example.
Dang... awesome
“Sorry fella: great prancing, phenomenal twirling, but unfortunately you misspelled the script Ohio.”
I like number 2 better
Won't be long now....6 More Days❣️❣️❣️ O-H-I-O GO BUCKEYES 🏟️🏈❣️
Faaaaaabulous!
GO BUCKS!!!! TBDBITL
these boys tuff fr
#2 for drum major and #1 for assistant.
This is The Ohio State University
Why isn't this an olympic sport?
Are classes being held in those surrounding buildings while this is going on?
This was on a Saturday, so no classes were being disturbed!
@williamhughes9746 Really? A major university and no Saturday classes?? I'm a graduate of Penn State, and we had Saturday classes!!! I earned a second degree in CA twenty years later, and we had Saturday classes!
Dude , find something else to bitch about.
What difference does it make? Did you come here to enjoy the tryouts or to patrol the campus? 👮🚓
@@onemercilessming1342 Man you're talking ancient history! In the last 20 years the entire world has done a 180 degree turnaround.
Is this what I have to contend with because of USC's flight to the Big Ten?! GO Trojans, beat the Buckeyes!
H ha ha ha ...How stupid
Jealous much?!
Joshua went to high school with me! Nice work, go lions!
Drum Major guys… NOT drum majorette. Keep it masculine. Or are we going to see collegiate drag shows on the field now?
I think these guys are already there! 😀
