John was great again, but to me, the drum major is most embodied by that high leg kick run during the ramp entry in particular, and I thought Dan and Konner did a great job as well. I've no idea what years the various students are, but I do hope that one or both of them can take up the head mantle at some point during their time at THE OSU.
Damn, a whole year with 4 likes and no answer. Well, the main reason is just for the show, nobody is *that* flexible easily, so when you can do it, it looks stylish, precise, and skillful all in one action. Combine this with the Baton snapping in accordance with the legs makes it 10x better. TL;DR Quick movement of the Baton and legs make people happy because of flashiness.

Matt Eland John has the high kicks and the backbend. Kenner has everything else
I didn't even go to Ohio State, but I really enjoyed watchin John LaVange.
LaVange is in a universe of his own , and I am a Tar Heel fan and former high school drum major.
This is, Barr none (sorry, I had to get it in there), the best tryout I've ever seen!
Its clear John would win this - superb highest kick and back bend!
Cant wait to see you and morgan do this next (this?) year!
I dont mean to sound very novice about this...but why do they run like that? I never understood why...
