    It seems that in Australia the UHF mobile radios are limited to 5 watts where as in the States, most HAM mobile radios are 50 watts, but the actual limit here is 1500 Watts, but that's not very practical. Also, most overland HAM users use VHF although some use UHF. These two factors probably account for the range difference between the two countries. CB in the States is 27 MHz and is limited to 4 watts with horrible sound (AM) and range.

    Good fun Ronny, hard to change the way they talk but good try. I heard Brad say mate to Marco once in TrailRecon. I wonder if we can improve our radios in Australia they're ahead of us in that area.

    • @cyclemoto8744
      @cyclemoto8744 4 года назад

      Nothing to do with the radios. From what I've gathered when the US refers to H.A.M radio, that is the equivalent to our HF radios in Oz. The fact that so many 4wds in the US use HAM seems to indicate that there may not be any licensing requirements to operate the units, thereby increasing the up take, unlike Australia.

    Not sure if comparing UHF CB to Amateur radio is 100% matched. I like the amateur radio, but a more even, fair comparison would have been UHF CB vs GMRS. Sure, UHF CB is license free, while GMRS requires a license (USA, not needed in CAN), but I feel that UHF CB and GMRS are closer in terms of strengths/weaknesses.
    Aside from that, not too bad....

      im running the st maxx only get them if you dont mind getting shit mpg or you do a lot of wheeling. its a load range e tire so its heavy but it is stupid tough. I wheel pretty often and try to hit the harder trails. Its a mud and snow rated tire and it has sipes in the tred so it does really well in rain and is far better then a mud terrain in the snow, actually amazing in the snow. I normally air down to 14psi so you can see the tire really flex and wont get any punctures or sidewall tears. But again if you want st maxx I get 12mpg highway in my tacoma because it has full steel armor with skids, bumpers, spare tire, cap, and rooftop tent. I think stock and the tires I was getting 15ish mpg city down from 19 so again unless you wheel or just dont care about poor mpg's go with a wildpeak or duratrac.
