Doing a trip with Swellrunner (Jason) out to Moab was a great time. It's always nice to connect with other 'creators' (aka people who make youtube videos or instagram photos) and see their process in making videos. Jason makes awesome videos, but he also has a pretty decked out 4Runner. This video he just kind of walks me around and shows me all the mods on his overland built Toyota 4Runner. Thanks for your time, Jason, and hope to do another trip soon!

YES!! Thanks Mike!! This is a great walk around!! There’s lots of detail that I don’t even have on my channel yet! Can’t wait to get together again!!
Yeah man - I think some CO trails are next on the agenda... ;)
@@LastLineOfDefense
What would this guy need to "push" with his steel bumper? Most truck owners today are afraid of getting a little scratch on their $60k mall crawler let alone use it for what it was made for, hard work and play.
Idk, could maybe use it to push some haters.
@@LastLineOfDefense lol..
Jason Koertge the flippity dippity Jason? Well zippity zappity, I cant wait 😂😂
Great coverage from that trip. You guys looked like you had a good time and experienced a lot. Jason's Rig and experience has been a real inspiration (Mostly watching his growth and its transformation). Looking forward to more coverage from both.
Lol Mike's looking like man...I was hoping this was gonna be a 10 min video. My man Jason can talk! But I love how thorough he is. Reminds me of my pops that way
Lightforce is great gear. You can relax. Regards from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Mike, I'm still waiting to hear back from you RE: doing a video on my ultimate overlanding vehicle ('92 Toyota Camry). It has premium expedition features including:
-A powerful 1.8-liter engine that goes 0-60 in a BLAZING fast 22.5 seconds
-Genuine _Panafonic™_ tape deck with Jimmy Buffett's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" stuck on repeat
- A "Gas, Grass or Ass: No One Rides for Free" bumper sticker to let other overlanders know what I'm about
Let me know when you want to shoot the video. Thanks, Mike!
Let's do it. When will that beast be out in Colorado next?
@@LastLineOfDefense I'll have to let you know when I'm out there. I don't like to broadcast my movements in advance because nefarious types might try to steal my sweet rig. It's also why I don't use turn signals, because it's no one else's business where I'm going.
Why are you everywhere I go?
You that guy who was mobbing in his Camry at Wildomar OHV a few months back? Put us truck guys to shame!
@@nickc3856 the turn signal bit got me
Awesome set up! looks like a lot of work and money well spent!
Two of my favorite overlanders in one video. Ya can't lose.
MrRayMac1963 thank uuu!
Thank you for the video mike and Jason love the diversity of things that could be used for overlanding. For me it will be a while until I can have everything.
In case anyone is wondering, the MSRP on that trailer is $27,000.
“ LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS” when dad open the driver door. Lol that made me laugh!
The battery mount looks really clean. Nice setup!!
Great looking rig! Seems like there is something new on it every time I see it. I need to bust out a rig walk around too!
Wow I live one a island so Over Landing on this island only can take you so far. Was not interested at all but after this now I’m intrigue this looks like fun definitely Going to educate myself more un this😎🤙 Mahalo and Aloha
The best mod to my new 4Runner's overland setup has to be the Magnuson supercharger.. It increased my (to rear tire) horse power by almost 100.. So from 270 stock hp to around 350hp to the wheels.. I think they said it was a 35% power increase.. It is snap on and was made together with TRD so requires no other engine mods.. Once hooked in the electronics know what to do.. It has taken away ALL the strain extra weight all the overland gear puts on the engine and makes the 4Runner feel exactly like an SUV this size should.. Nothing more, nothing less.. I highly recommend it.. It has transformed my 4Runner and changed my mind about switching to a Lexus for more power.
Lunamaria thanks for sharing!
Whats the MPG like?
Mpg? Reliability?
@@undefeatedgaul3201 These words are questions? Lol... I never noticed any change in mpg.. Magnuson reassured me that mpg will only decrease if i'm flooring it everywhere, and 2 years later that still seems to be the case.. If there is a change, it's so insignificant that i have never noticed... And yes it's VERY reliability considering Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Magnuson designed it together, so it compliments the engine.. This supercharger was suppose to be used for a trim offering, but Toyota ended up not putting a supercharged 4Runner on the market.
Way fookin cooler than any rv
What a cool toy!
Awesome videos, really enjoy your channel.
Appreciate it!
awesome walk around. Thanks for the video!
Sweet rig!
Nice
SO much stuff!
Nice one guys and nice rig
Dope ass video gonna sub to this dude
What a build! Some don’t know this , but Mike royalties from Pulp Fiction help fund this rig. #TheGimp
You almost got a full sentence in there once. Congrats.
Jason's neck is killing me just looking at him not being able to turn his head side to side, I hope it doesn't bother him.
His teeth are worse
I really want to be able to do something like this, but I feel like if I did, a tiny scratch would total my sub-$5k '02 Ford Ranger.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the rivian electric truck and SUV
this guy must have his life-saving fluid in that bottle... or liquid gold or something...
Looks awesome, but it must get 2 mpg.
What kind of fuel economy are you getting now with this kind of set up? Also do you have the stock alternator with the two batteries? I know diesel trucks have two batteries but I wasn’t sure on a Toyota truck how the stock alternator holds up to that
Is the 4Runner a comfortable fit for your family
You should have made 2 videos, one for the truck and one for the trailer.
Why did you change your Extreme LED light bar to a Lightforce on your roof rack?
Great tires but I've bought five sets since 2016. Do you put that many miles on rig or are they not lasting?
lpis45 three vehicles, two trailers...
Can you run a battery from the trailer to the rear?
The most sponsored Instalanding rig ever built
sponsored not built or bought
So true. This guy was entertaining for a time...then became an arrogant infomercial guy.
If I apply these lessons learned to my life such as recovery and stop drinking at the baptism, can I turn my life around?
Someone thinks you're cute Mike 12:23 haha
Did you see how red he went after that? :D
I'd go to MOAB if it wasn't for the giant bees.
Hey Mike. What's the point of the amber lights over the white ones?
That’s an insane bugout rig. Just gimme a tent, a Yeti, muh rifles, my fishing pole, my camp chef, my solar shower, privacy tent, portable Head, and my guitar and I’m good to go for at least 2 weeks.
Any suggestions as to an experienced highly rated Overland Outfitter in a reasonable distance from the Cincinnati or Indy area?
Hey Mike, whatever happened to this guy Jason from Swellrunner? He hasn't posted anything in a while.
I know he had lots of stuff going on with his business and then moved from Utah back to Florida and then got a puppy, so I think he's just been busy
Probably talking to himself in a closet somewhere
Kinda curious anyone want to guess the total cost.
$45k car.
$25k+ in mods
$8k for the trailer
Tons of time
@@EGGMANNoriginal trailer msrp is 27k
What flannel is that you’re wearing in this video? Looks crazy comfy with that lining.
Costco special! It is super comfy and warm, haha
I’m debating between the 2019 & 2020 TRD PRO 4Runner.
wckdkoolbtxh 🍆
Hopefully he chose the 2019 so he didn't have TSS 🤣
Get the 20 so you have the updated infotainment
looks like arvin from Zach and cody😂
Thank you
Is the kdss system on the 4Runner worth it or necessary? Can’t find TRD offroad with kdss and not really sure if it’s worth it or if it complicates mods to the suspension in the future
If you don't offroad much it's nice. If you want to max out your off road capabilities dont get it.
Rooster thank you!
Why do you get amber lights vs normal lights? Better for flat light?
They help add contrast in the snow - that's the main reason for me, but there are other benefits.
I personally dont want to have to pull a trailer around, its a big neusence especially doing some offroading
As a weekend camper mainly at state parks they sound great to me. I would only RRT with a trailer so I can drive off easy to get to a lake or hiking trail. The price is the limiting factor and my less is more mentality with plenty of room in the back of my Canyon.
Jeff Ridens the benefits of the trailer are you don’t have to have your gear loaded when you’re not over landing, you don’t have to swap it when you swap vehicles, and when you find a good spot you can’t close it up and leave it so you won’t lose your camping spot while your drive around for the day.
@@CoGhostRider yea i can see that. My plans for now is to always be on the move.
Hey Mike have you seen the Baja Designs Laser lights?
I have, yup! They're rad, but not really too appealing to me, as I don't do much high speed baja racing type stuff.
Do you ever make it out to Idaho?
Not often enough
Wait what? you said this is your first 4x4, bought it in January 2016....fast forward to 13:35, talking about the KO2's; "I think I've bought four or five sets over the years..."
That's like 9 months a set....that SUCKS!!! never never never, nope, not gonna do it. Ok, I'll do it....there's BS here somewhere.
There are off road vehicles that aren't 4x4. Fotornr had some offroad vehicles prior to his 4runner (which was his first 4x4 as well)
Also has a trailer
He has multiple vehicles, plus a trailer, he's bought them for, so.... math is hard.
Did he say he struggles with power to the rear? I swear I saw two batteries under the hood and a solar power mounted to the top. Oh and a Yeti 1400!!! This guy needs to just stay home as much power as he thinks he needs.
I don't remember the video, but I think he was talking about getting power (access) to the rear, before he put the new fuse block back there to connect everything. Essentially running wires from the front (batteries) to the rear.
Hey Mike. Great videos. Keep it up.
Something was off with your interviewee “Jason” ... he seems very full of himself and was a bit dismissive to your questions. Nice rig and set up though.
I didn't get that from Jason at all. He's very humble - not afraid to admit he doesn't know a lot. I think he even said that multiple times in this video.
Dude. This guy has a lot of shit. Bad ass. Too much for me though. Id rather get a revel. But one of the coolest rigs around!!!!
1:41 Corona Virus!
The rear side window cover racks things, anyone know what they are or where i can get them i need them in my life for my 4runner? Another great video thnx.

this car need one thing, MAGNUSON SUPERCHARGER, after that we can Called this car ULTIMATE 4Runner.
Tubocharger *whheeeeee
Dorky also
His rig is way overdone. Trailers are over rated. To cumbersome.
Lot going on, but if I had 3 kids and the corresponding food and gear, clothes etc etc, I’d probably need a trailer too. Seems to work for him.
Sounds like something a hater would say but ok
To much power equipment going on, IMO. “Keep it simple stupid”.
DamnTheTorpedos Glad someone said it. This mans rig uses more power than most peoples homes.
He talks to much! Lol
