This is my 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road - built to be an overland / adventure / camping / offroading rig. The truck also serves a secondary function of being my bug out rig, one that gets tested and used more than others out there. While I don't go out overlanding for months at a time, I do take the Tacoma out a lot weekends to local trails around Colorado all year round. This is a walkaround of that overland built Toyota Tacoma, and I hope you enjoy it.

What kind of dog bed?
@@mstott22lax Hmmm, works for me - what's it do for you?
@@DuhKoDuhCantrell amzn.to/2mWnPOj though I got it for $71, not the $150 that it's listed for now.
In your suspension video you had 34s on. You now said you had 35s on it. Are you still running the same suspension and is there any rubbing?
Ive seen the truck up close, and met Mike and even with clogs, hes a solid dude. He actually cares about his followers and what it is hes doing. a Rare thing these days.
Appreciate it, Richie - and thanks for your friendship.
@@LastLineOfDefense Same here.
In Colorado, we wash vehicles only when we want it to rain or snow.
Hahaha
this is too true xD xD xD
This is true....
Me: "Oh blue skys.... 4 weather apps say no rain for the next 2 weeks...."
Me: washes Truck or SUV. Pulls our of manual wash bay, to see dark ominous clouds. "You gotta be shitting me".
Me: does 20 over the speed limit to get home before the rain or snow starts so i can garage it and not have my $10 go to waste.
Me: gets pissed on by mother nature, about 2 miles from home...
Me: "Colorado needs some fucking medication to control its by bipolar weather."
Also Me: done washing my shit.....
one of the cleanest builds out there
Thanks Wilson!
No I think mine is a little bit cleaner. However mine is not a taco. I have a 2019 Ford velociraptor.
jason I actually can assure you I do. If you would like to see some pics of it I can add you on Instagram. I love it and I did add some modifications to make it even cooler. I would love to show you.
Trump 2020 i want to see it. drop ur instagram @
Wilson Sand Idk if I want to drop my insta on this so if you guys wouldn’t mind dropping yours I can add you guys and dm whoever wants to see the build.
Your the man bro. Please do more weekederlander videos.
Thank you for your work.
Weekenderlander vids are my favs
While going into the Service soon, when I need to get a vehicle again, a Toyota Tacoma is exactly what I want. I've seen a few of your videos and I love everything on how you build yours and why. I might have some slight differences to my dream Tacoma, but yours is a HUGE inspiration to that dream. Thank you so much man!
I love all the videos Mike! I’m excited for more preparedness stuff coming up
Sweet ride. Slowly upgrading my truck. Love the ideas. Keep up the good work
That ikamper is perfect. I emailed them months ago and they said they were. It going to make a smaller version that did not hang over the end of the bed. SOOOO happy to see them working on one.
For the solar panel vibration, you could create your own vibration reducing rubber gasket mixed with some anti vibration bolt setup. That could help quite them down. I do really like the idea of the solar panels up there. Nice job.
Thank you for having a vehicle that looks like it's used.. Ie not spotless and perfectly clean...
the coolest part is how you set your dog up for success after surgery and for long haul rides(fully flat bed). Respect.
Awesome info, just got into my first Tacoma! Looking forward to the build.
I bought my 3rd Tacoma here recently it’s not new but a 2004 access cab an old man owned with 46000 miles on it. I plan on upgrading it little at a time until I have a good overlanding rig. In the meantime I enjoy just driving it.
Jiminy those were some quick upgrades. I dream of owning a good truck like that!
thanks for the updated video ! would love one about the dog seating on your back right rear seats... definitely more cozy than my dogs current setup!
Just stumbled onto your channel and this is the second video I've watched. Great information and very detailed. I really like the wrap. I had a 2013 TRD but needed a full so it was traded in. Just test drove a 2020 the other day and really thinking of getting a Tacoma again. I'm in Colorado as well. Love the mountains.. Thanks for the video..
Just wanted to say thanks for your original video on the Frontrunner stuff. Gave me a ton of ideas! I live in Australia so we cant buy the Tacoma here, but was able to get a ton of inspo for my truck all the same!
Thanks for all the great info. Planning on moving out there eventually. Looking to upgrade my future zr2. Keep the videos coming and thanks for all the links in the body.
Have a rad holiday.
Your rig is incredible, smart, not over the top and as you say, exactly why you wanted it to be used for. I am also very jealous as the Tacoma is not available in the UK, I love the styling and capabilities
Very nice rig. Well thought out. I always pick up some good ideas on your videos. Thanks Mike.
Cool Video, great info. Living vicariously through these overlander vids.
A story about dogs... My son, when he was 7 came down with a really challenging awful condition that required 2 really major surgeries. My wife and I got the new about this about a week before Christmas. We got a golden retriever puppy to cheer everyone up and my son wanted to name him Atreyu. I had no idea about that character and though my boy was saying Trail. So our dog was Trail. That was about 26 years ago. Trail helped my son recover and became the best dog ever. Anyway, great name for a dog for sure.
Hello from OFFRoad-Bulgaria counting 183 000 members!
Great presentation and a wonderful truck.
Love the truck Mike, using your build as inspiration for my ZR2 build.
I also live and camp in colorado.
Like how your Toyota has evolved, great overview.
I love the consideration for Atreyu, my dog doesn't have it nearly as nice. That dog bed/platform is inspirational.
Just bought my first tacoma because of you. Thanks for the content man!
Tool bag vid would be great, can’t wait for more
The slow but unstoppable roll of multicam black, lumbering over everything he owns. From the truck, to the holsters to the jacket. Next up? Multicam black face tattoo.
Awesome to see your changes. Thanks for the update.
Great inspiration video. I just want to do weekend adventure stuff as well, nothing major. The aluminum over steel I never thought about. I have an F150 though so I have a ton of places to compare equipment to.
Hey Mike! Please do a video on how you access public land for camping and overlanding! I am having a hard time figuring out where to go for my next trip and figuring out which places have the best views. Thank you!
Sweet truck vary purpose built, perfect for camping good all around. 💪
At first glance, I was like "ok, a Tacoma set up for camping. Cool, looks good." I had no idea how much you had into it. Wow. The one idea I might adopt if I find the motivation is the under-hood storage. My Sierra has an empty second battery tray, so it is just begging for a nice weather-sealed storage box.
Cant wait to get my first 3rd Gen Taco soon. Mike you have inspired me for years to get on.
Awesome rig man, I live in CO as well and adventure all over, my biggest regret is not having something like your iKamper, overnights are rough in the winter without it.
Add in the kumho venture at51 for good A/Ts in the snow! They’ve been great on my lifted Cherokee trailhawk down here in the Colorado Springs on the trails and in this springs snow!
have you tried the Nitto Ridge Grapplers? They performed, to me, amazing in Lake Tahoe Snow storms. The on road is pretty nice also. Keep up the great work!
+1 for the wildpeak's. Mine have been awesome. Better than most AT tires in the snow
Enjoyed the video, I'm new to the channel, my first curiosity was the bed setup. You covered all my questions and then some.
I really like how you did the on board air.
Build what u need, is what I believe great rig amigo
Thanks for this…. Just got s ‘23 and there were a few items I was looking for covered here. Forget Jeep, got a Taco now! Keep up the great vids
Love these videos! Even though I don't have a Toy Taco, it gives me ideas for my own. But the one piece of gear I need is that beanie! When you gotta get more on the site? Love my LLOD hat. Keep up the awesome work and looking forward to more adventures!
Dope truck man. I like your mods flow. I'm gonna be doing my suspension next myself. Its cool to see others trucks for inspiration cause I do all my own wrench work and sometimes I doubt myself so cool video
Love the vids! Keep em coming!
New follower here. I put way too much thought into gear selection, so it's nice to see your selections as a good place to start. Usually just go with it. I'll be watching!
Great vid. Ashley did awesome. Nice rig.
Look at that, good old China Wall trail. I miss that trail, it’s been years since I’ve been back out to Colorado and went wheeling. I recognized that obstacle right away lol.
Thanks for the video, again. Been watching since I was looking to buy a roof top tent... I’m slowly building out my 2015 Taco and been referencing you’re videos a bunch. So keep doing what you’re doing - it’s great content.
Hi guys I am new Watching your show and I love it you are doing a good job also I love how you Design your truck Amazing I love the Camo design that all me god bless you and your family yes your dogs too and stay safe and happy always amen my friend
Great video! Your truck is awesome!
Just came across your channel and omg has it been helpful!. I am looking to buy a truck which will accept all I want to do with it. Great job on your channel and all the insite of features to upgrade a basic Tacoma.
I’m a Ram kinda guy but I must say: that truck really makes me salivate. Looks awesome.
It would be awesome for you and ash to come up here to Canada and do some overlanding in the Alberta / B.C mountains !
Love your vids. I have the same truck but as the sport. I plan on doing some of the same mods and use it in a similar way. It is nice to have a full rundown as it gives me some ideas. thanks for all that you do.
You do a great job on your videos, and the truck is equally nicely done. I enjoy your camping vids the most.
Appreciate the kind words, matt!
I was 80% sure a Tacoma was going to be my next vehicle. Your videos sealed the deal.
Legendary build mate!
Really love this built. ♥️
That is an awesome looking Tacoma.
NICE TRUCK MIKE . IT NEVER ENDS .
We're dog people too. That set up for Atreyu is AWESOME! Toolbag video would be cool, then again we like em all.
I love this video, thanks Mike 🤙
Dude this is next level, great vid
Badass rig man and great videos as well. You got yourself a sub
Got a 2020 sr5 today this was the first video that came to mind!!!
Awesome!
Love that wrap man!
Man I’m in love with your taco !!!beautiful machine!!
That sounds so wrong lol.
Procs to think about it it does lol but not my swag 😂
Can you please do a video of the wiring? Perhaps you could do this on your Land Cruiser - showing how to wire up a second battery, the fuse block and then accessories off the block. That would be super useful! No one else on RUclips has done something clear and simple.
Great video. Love what your doing keep it up.
Hey I just wanted to say I love your videos and keep up the awesome work putting out these great videos! I just recently started making videos for RUclips and you have been a huge inspiration for me wanting to start that! I live in British Columbia Canada so there's a ton of great places to explore but from seeing hour videos I definitely want to make a trip to Colorado! Cheers!
Awesome man - hope you have a good time!
Love that rig brother!!
Love the channel man 🔥
Diggin your channel! I'm also in Colorado, running a 2014 ram 1500. I go on many weekenders as well. Building up my setup bit by bit. One cool thing is that I'm a machinist and can make my own gear. Hope to run into you out there one day. I'm in Rye.
Your truck is bad ass ! Love it
It's not a real 4x4 truck without a healthy coat of fresh Colorado Red mud. I really like the looks of your Tacoma and the way you have it outfitted. Thanks for sharing, subscribed and liked, new to your channel. Recently purchased a 2006 Tundra Double Cab 4x4 with cap, don't like the bulky new models at all. Wanted just a little extra room and power. May use some of your ideas, like the HAM radio set-up too.
Well done, man. Very well done
Fantastic! Thanks Mike!
If the solar and things are rattling up top, consider putting a foil/wind guard that extends above the face of the panel. It could be mounted on the face of your rack.
Mike your Tacoma is so cool, its like the batmobile of trucks.
Love this video. Very informative
Thanks! Nice truck!
Dope video as always!
Being an electrician myself, I would LOVE to see your Tool setup! I am saving up for my own TRD Off-Road (Pro if i'm lucky!) - You're an inspiration! Do you still have the GTI for your daily driver?
I know it's a Third Gen and a Double Cab,but I'm watching again to get inspiration for my build. I'm buying a 2011 Tacoma Access Cab, TRD Off Road
Love the truck! I have a Daewoo Lanos I was going to turn into a bugout rig
Hi from Canada, Wow nice Truck friend, love when a man take time on all little detail
Thats a bad ass truck man
Consider securing the ax as it is quite dangerous projectile during an off-road roll over or HW collision. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Mike, love the truck, I'm a landy fan from the UK but looking at Toyota landcruiser for reliability as my next offroader! Got my LLOD t shirt so spreading the word over here so people subscribe to your channel.
Awesome man - I appreciate the support. I'm enjoying the Land Cruiser life as well.
Cool that you built custom seating for your dog.
Love your vids and your truck!
wild wild truck dude
It’s been a while since I saw one of your videos but it looks like you put a wrap on your truck because it was quicksand before. But it still looks great. Great channel!
Who would've thunk Mike shinoda's younger bro was an overlander lol. Cheers LLoD. Love your channel brother.
The camo rap makes your truck look bad ass
Excelente vídeo gracias 👍🏼
Nothing I enjoy more than listening to some rich kid talk about his cool stuff.
Glad you loved it!
Excellent video
