I am trying to decide what truck to buy. Tacoma vs Tundra or Dodge Ram Diesel or other. Hard to decide when factoring cost with capabilities and reliable. Gasoline vs. Diesel. I do not plan to tow any trailers, 5th wheel or camper, the truck will be my camper with a rooftop or bed camper similar to Mike Glover's new camper in his Ram. Any suggestions or considerations from you are appreciated. I need a new vehicle soon, within the next 30 days or so.
Mike let me know if you want to do a video tour of my ultimate bugout vehicle ('93 Toyota Camry). It features many premium survival preps including a half-eaten CLIF bar in the glove compartment and a gas station first-aid kit with genuine _Power Rangers™_ band-aids
Laughed hard when mike looked at the camera and basically thought what the hell you doin back there?! Get your ass over here and film the gear he’s talking about! Lolll
Thanks for the walk around of an awesome 4Runner, thank you Mike for your service and thank you Mike for your channel and all the good information you share......
When it comes to front bumpers, ARB is the ONLY bumper I would run. They are specifically designed to match your vehicle's OEM bumper crush rate which doesn't interfere with airbag deployment. I don't know about you, but my family's safety is paramount and I want my airbags to deploy during a front end collision. ARB or nothing. Awesome video. Cheers!
I am not even a Toyota guy and I enjoyed this video. Keep em coming Mike. If you find someone with a sweet overland Jeep, do a walk around of it please. Thanks again man for the great content.
Cool outerwear, similar attire. Looks very comfortable to chill in the outdoors while overlanding. Digging the hats too. I don't own a overland rig but at least I can look like I do. 😊
Ok I figured this guy was ex military or law enforcement in some way just by the way he talked. When you said former green beret I sat up straight! Immediately commanded respect. He obviously knows his stuff and sounds like it too. That guy has all the cool stuff.
I realize that the side lights on the roof rack probably will not be on as you are driving on the road but, just a heads up about DOT regulations. Yellow lights are on the front and side, red lights are for the rear. It is to let people know the length and direction of vehicles. It will probably never be a problem if you put red lights on the side but you never know when you might get pulled over. I know a trend is to put lights inside of cars/trucks. Green and yellow is popular. Ive seen people get pulled over for having a blue light in their car. Just something to be aware of.
Really good video, would love to see a video on carrying firearms in your rig or some sort of rig to carry your firearms without worrying about them while doing daily’s.
Bad Ass..! Totally great work guys, excellent dependable, working rig. Secondly, I can't freakin believe I haven't seen this yet, my apologies. And from one to another, thanks..!
Seat mounted side-impact air bags are designed to apply pressure against the seams of the OEM cover which have been engineered to snap and tear apart. Does the added seat cover prevent air bag deployment? Since you have "vetted" the company I anticipate this question was brought up, however, I am unable to find any information on Wet Okole's website that mentions "Air Bag Compatibility."
My Wet Okoke's on my F150 are compatible with my side impact air bags. The side of the backrest where the airbags deploy are basically overlapping neoprene flaps
Great vid, would like to hook up with Mike and Gang after my long tour here in Iraq. Just started outfitting our JKU Overlander a few months back but much to still accomplish. Appreciate the vid and links!!
@@UpNorthOutWest Yes. Thank you for the clarification! I've much to learn. Please, do you know if regearing the differential was done in this case here?
@@pytheus most likely not. He's only on 32s which isn't a big change from stock (31-31.5s) and thats probably the reason why he stuck with them because you run into alot of issues with big tires (35+ on runners/tacos) Clearance issues, broken parts, and re-gearing which can be expensive. Although its a heavy rig with all that armor and gear, its got enough torque and hp to handle it And the tires aren't that big so mostly likely no re-gear👍
I enjoyed the video although seeing all those accessories on that 4runner makes me wish i could win the lottery. That guy has over $10,000 worth of kick a$$ extras and im being extremely conservative. That 10 G's probably only covers the lift & truck vault. Its cool stuff and id love to outfit my 4runner similarly but it may take a few years.
I know this is two years later, but I'd like to overland my truck but I worry about the length of my wheel base and it becoming a high center problem. What do ya think?
Enjoyed the video, but wish the camera person would of gotten some B-Roll of the vehicles exterior and interior so while your talking about features you have some nice shots to put on the screen. I also understand while getting a quick interview you sometimes forget to get the B-roll shots. Thanks for the video Mike!
I'm seriously considering purchasing a 4 Runner. Is there a year and model you would suggest. I have a 97 Land Cruiser so the 4 Runner would be a second vehicle. Many thanks!
Mike purchased a 2016 Trail 4Runner. For 2018, they designated it TRD Off Road, which my girlfriend has. Amazing vehicle if you don’t need all the creature comforts (garage/gate openers, auto and HID headlights, power lift gate, sunroof, etc etc). It does come with sat nav but no apple CarPlay or android auto functionality. One thing I noticed after a few camping trips, the seats started to wear. My girlfriend got her 4Runner in July of this year so it’s only been a few months. I would suggest getting seat covers like what Mike had. We threw a rooftop tent on top on the stock rails and they held up perfectly on mild to moderate off-road trails. Honestly a great rugged vehicle. Toyota’s are built to last and the 4Runner is one of the pinnacles of that imo. Gas mileage is subpar but is certainly better than your Land Cruiser.
Daniel Lin the 2018 TRD Off Road has pretty much all the creature comforts. They have power seats, Power windows, seat heaters, blue tooth, garage openers as well as a sunroof. I do a mods video about mine on my channel.
No Disrespect, but could the discussion cover the Class Action Lawsuit on New Toyota 4Runners and Mold growing in the HVAC and causing lung infections?

Sounds like a serious contender for "Overland Rig of the Year"
I got a car crusher. We should put your camry in there and make a video

Thank you Mike for your service! "I mall crawled in Afghanistan." Epic!
Out in Hawaii we go to the beach and then just jump in the car with wet shorts. Hence wet okolei
No way! You got to meet Mike Glover?! That's so awesome!
Mike's 4Runner makes a trd pro look like a RAV4.
I love the guy at 13:00 trying to inconspicuously sneak out of frame.
Haha yeah walking on the gravel was loud, so they were all trying to be mindful. They're so thoughtful.
Nice rig. I love seeing the functionality side of these builds.
jon shearer all functionality until you have a medium to large item that you can’t put in the truck because of the drawer system.
I saw those crossed arrows on the side of his 4Runner and knew he was SOF. Interesting and informative. Thanks for doing this vid.
Your right about the wet okole. I love mines. You gotta do more rig walkarounds. Love all the ideas.
Yup they are very warm in the summer
I went back to watch this video again, really cool info
