as part of my recovery gear, I have a tire repair kit, and I also keep an air compressor. I offroad often. Additionally, one thing I like to always have is a few large trash bags. Great for cleanup, emergency poncho, lay it on the ground for working on the vehicle, put wet/muddy gear in it. Takes up very little space. Good video

Nice setup. I like to keep heavy objects like tow hitches secured where they dont turn into missiles aimed at my or passengers heads in case of an accident. My last 4Runner got t boned and a bunch of stuff in the back ended up in the front. I now have a Raingler net behind the rear seats.

Good vid, Kevin. And kudos for mentioning keeping things INSIDE your truck. The bro trend of hanging crap for the whole world to see, and that is getting UV'd every day, is silly. When I see rigs like that driving around town, I figure it's someone who's trying really hard to prove something.

Great video, i am running a fairly similar setup in my 97 4runner. 208k miles still kicking butt and taking names.
I do carry one of my compact arborist chainsaws with me. It doesnt leak oil or gas and it sips fuel. One full tank will likely get me out of every scenario ive come across. Ive cleared numerous trees off the road, and then skidded the big logs out of the way with my vehicle using a tow strap.
I will start carrying a good human powered saw though. Thats handy when you want to have a low audio profile.

  • @derektrounce937
    @derektrounce937 5 месяцев назад +3

Another saw suggestion is a Milwaukee or stihl battery powered chainsaw.
With lithium batteries and brushless motors they have become very useful and having an inverter built into the 4runner it's a good option

Volvos come with a cargo net, it’s very important to be aware of what is loose at the back. I pointed out the potential of this when Wranglerstar was dumping tow gear into loose boxes in his camper van, so he banned me… 😹

@@kevinestela4881 you are correct sir. We are in Moore County but I head out to Family land in Chatham to get range time & our vacations are all over the blue ridge mtns. Great to be centrally located. Plan to attend a few FieldCraft trains sessions as soon as finances regain a descent place. Half unemployment sucks! Cheers to the future! 🤘

Just a product idea, since you already carry a milk crate. The milwaukee packout crate works great with some stealth mount cleats. That way it snaps in place and doesn't move around when driving in rough terrain. Can also stack them and they lock together.

Great minds think alike. I carry most of the same stuff in my pickup. Yes I have stayed on top of the rockies in my vehicle due to road closure in a blizzard. People who have nothing (like a rental going on a ski trip ) have died. I refuse to be a static.

Really nice kit. Sadly, in this day and age, it’s only protected by glass but you’re not living in Kalifornia so you should be ok with carrying it in your DD. I was doing mental math as you were going through it. I’m thinking that if someone were to pay for all of it, they’d be in for about $7k to 8k without pew pew and ammo. Am I even warm? I’m setting up my Chevy Colorado ZR2 with a Decked system that already ran me $1200 and I’m into med and survival for a grand. I’m going to keep going and I’m not really worried about my final cost but people should know that your safety and security are more than worth it…

I understand that most of the stuff you don’t use all the time and you wouldn’t use all the time, but it’s just so funny when you watch these videos that every single person has all brand spanking new excellent gear clean as a whistle never been used only thing in your entire vehicle that was dirty was the boot Matt Didn’t know where it came from lol I love the video. I’m not the video. I love the video. I love you guys. All great I’m just speaking in general. Just cracks me up.

I love all the info and gear, but I have so many questions. As a practicing ER physician and SWAT team member I can say I may need some of this stuff and I have gear and load out bag in back of my vehicle as well, but I can always pull my load out bag out (large rolling 5-11 duffle) but keep GHB in back, this leaves room for bags to go to the airport or groceries etc. You have no functional storage space in the back now. How do you deal with that, honest question. Thanks

You need hand tools, nothing crazy just something to get you buy. Screw drivers, wrenches, hammer , pliers should be basic in every vehicle. I would also replace the factory tool for changing tires with something more sturdy.

Is Liquid Death just water? If you buy one of Liquid Death's canned waters, then yes, Liquid Death is just plain old water. Now there are other beverages available from Liquid Death, but nothing too crazy. Mostly water, iced tea, and sparkling water in a few flavors.May 1, 2023

Oh my God… nobody cares, you nutter. 😂
It’s just canned flavored water. Buy a different brand if you’re that sensitive; blue can, open water, polar, just water, mtnwtr, rainwater, proud source, origin, weird water, water can, Dasani canned, watershield, etc.
I personally think the screw-top pint cans like Mananalu, good & gather, etc. are a little nicer for this application since they could be reused temporarily for water storage if you are able to collect rain or filter/boil/treat while off-grid.
