  • "How Does It Feel" is song by the British rock band Slade, released in 1975 as the second single from the band's first soundtrack album and fifth studio album 'Slade in Flame', in promotion of the film of the same name. The song was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler. It reached No. 15 in the UK, remaining in the charts for seven weeks.

    THE most underrated band ever. Great musicians with great tunes. How they weren't bigger is just a shame

      Completely agree.They may have been underrated elsewhere but in the UK Slade were giants of the "Glam Rock" era.

    As a teenager in the 70's Slade and Thin Lizzy were the soundtrack of my yoof. They still sound great now......ah, nostalgia.

    Without doubt in my mind the best song Slade ever recorded..and yet for some unknown and bizarre reason it never made the British top ten.
    So sad really.

      It was the second single from the album. I didn't buy it as I already had the album. I think that's true of millions of people.

      They really were making brilliant music during this period including 'Far Far Away' and 'In For A Penny' but the music business was extremely fickle then

    I’m 21. Always been into older music, it has rhythm and emotion that make you love the song. This is one of those old classics that doesn’t sound that old to be honest!
    Way before their time and WAY underrated!

    @ 59 I have been and still am a massive Slade fan, when this song came out I just felt let down as it "Was not a true Slade Song" how wrong was I !! Now some 46 years later its one of my Favorites

      i loved it then and i love it even more now. i was totally shocked when it only reached number 15. in the uk after their long run of top 3 hits but i had to learn that class could not always be translated into top success whatever us true fans thought. but at least some like russell harty and neil gallagher agree with us slade devotees

    There's a tendency to not take Slade seriously cos of the costumes and Merry Christmas Everybody..... But they were fantastic musicians with so many hits and this track is phenomenal..... Slade were fucking ace!

    I remember watching the film Fame when it came out, it was a bit cheesy but this song and Far, Far Away were great. I'll never forget the camera rolling over the landscape of the industrial Midlands with this song playing, so evocative.

    We loved them in the 70’s when I was a kid , we loved when there music came on at a disco , a long time had past since then , were good old days , I really nice time

    This isNoel Galaghers of Oasis favourite Slade song ever . Fantastic with the addition of the brass section. Best band ever in my opinion. Iam 62 and Slade were my childhood and now later life I still get a tingle when I here classics ike this

    ngl, the camera/lighting work for this is pretty good - there obviously wasn't a huge budget, but everything was done in service of the song, and done very well.

      Only during this mimed TV appearance. Jim Lea played bass on the studio recording. Jim is one of the best pop/rock bassists ever IMO ... a totally unique player.

    God is this over produced or what. Flutes, orchestras, trumpets, everything. . From this point Slade went downhill
