Wow. The timing is insane. I was just thinking about this as I got the notification. Works out well for my upcoming Marvel Supernatural Thrillers campaign

Was it coincidence? Or was it my vast network of super-spies, telepaths, luck manipulators and advanced AI’s all finally proving their worth!
It… it was coincidence. But I’m really glad the timing worked out so well for you! Good luck with the campaign!

Great video, as always. I think I'd end up using Option Two for characters that are starting out in a campaign as werewolves. However, if I was planning on running the werewolf equivalent of Blood Hunt, I would just grant the players a couple of extra temporary powers, traits, tags and up their melee damage until they inevitably reverted back to normal. It's a quick and dirty way of doing it, but I think it would save everyone a lot of time.
I haven't tested that yet, but recently I was putting together a Hulk-centric adventure where there's a chance the PCs get turned into Hulk versions of themselves and thought this method would be a better way to implement that.

Watched this a couple of more times. There is a Mechanic that confused me about how it works i.e. Shapeshift, Shrink, and Grow. - Reaction Trigger: The character is Attacked. Effect: you do whatever the power says. Quick Phase says they are intangible, Shield they get DR. Shrink - you get small, and your Def changes. but I'm not clear on how Growth and shapeshifting help with Defense. Werewolf the Apocalypse reference got me thinking about that. (also re-watched the New Mutants movie The Wolf-bane character. Thank you for your insight, Fuzzy

Rank 7 Vampire is a cool story beat! Maybe Thanos bargained with Dracula to get an increase in power.

Only one person can beat him... Werewolf Dr. Strange!

Good discussion and I felt like I got more of this one than the previous one. I do have a question, though, and this is more of philosophy than mechanics: How big a deal is rank disparity at the table (assuming, of course, the Narrator is giving everyone a chance to shine). I think about teams like the Avengers that in many incarnations have many different ranked heroes fighting shoulder to shoulder. I can understand there being encounter balance issues to figure for the Narrator but it seemed like your focus in this discussion was about players feeling overshadowed. What has your experience been at the table?

That's a good question. I've both Narrated for and played on teams with different Ranks, and there are a lot of things to keep in mind - might be enough to put in a video.
One of the reasons for my focus is that since the Tony's Workshop "Getting Schooled" rules came out, I've been playing MUCH more with lower rank characters who slowly progress, and who all started at the same Rank (1). Also, when you're dealing with lower rank characters, giving them Sturdy 2 is a much bigger deal than at higher levels. Many characters at Rank 1 can't overcome Sturdy 2 unless they've got a sword.
I suspect that trend will continue once those rules are "official" in the X-Men expansion.

Can you do a video on how to balance different ranks in a game?

Can you give me an example of what you mean to make sure I understand?

Thanks for another great video. I really feel that they need to make making your own hero more friendly to us pen and paper players. Too many things to juggle. Or I'm just not getting it.

No, it's definitely not you. I think things would be a little easier if they were just envisioned in a more standardized way. The more one-off rules you have the harder it is to keep them straight. I remain hopeful for a revision / 2nd edition that will keep all the fun and just clean up some of the inconsistencies.

Or maybe if they released a player's handbook type book. But again thanks for all that you do for the game and hobby.

Question what if the character has powers before they was bitten by a werewolf i forget get tthe character's name. The Cap Werewolf will he keep his powers as a werewolf or llose the powers as a werewolf. Also in the X MEN expansion it will have Wolfsbane who has 3 wolf forms i wonder how her profile is going to look

For Rahne, they might just go with a limited Shape-Shift power, since she shouldn't have the weakness to silver, or lunar transformation.
For Cap-Wolf, I think it really depends on what the player would like to do, and how you'd like to play the character (and I'm not super familiar with the character, so I'm probably not the best to offer advice here). Is he always going to be in Cap-Wolf form? If so, and remaining the same rank as the rest of the party is important, maybe you re-spec him at the same rank, and take fewer tactical powers, and maybe you don't bother with Sturdy 1 and 2, since it doesn't stack with some of your Shield powers. Just one example, but like I said in the vid, there really isn't a right or wrong approach, just an option that works best for you and your table! :-)
