I looked on ebay, facebook, craigslist, local junkyards, the dealer, and aftermarket suppliers all without success. Sometimes you have to go with plan Z.
A pal of mine that ran and runs a saw shop turned me on to Seal-all for pinholes in Briggs gas tanks. Just pour out a glob and it'll self level and tighten up. No more leaks and we even used it to hold the in tank fuel pump in place on a 97 Buick that just finally died a month ago. The fuel pump metal mount was GONE so we glued it in with Seal-all and held it in place with foam pipe insulation. Lasted for years but the pump died and the rust about had it so we had to let it go. And I have done several gas tanks with Seal-all and none ever leaked and are still going! Really like your fixes and no cussing. Blessings
@@AlwaysBored123 Sure thing! Ethanol turned JB Weld to plastic on a tank that Seal-all fixed after the JB came loose and all the gas ran out. It just works!
Quality videos and still under a 1000 subs. 😟 I found your channel when I was looking for info on a Case 1835; I probably would have never found it otherwise. I've found some decent channels that have commented on other similar channels. Do you interact with any similar channels? The quality of your content definitely deserves to be in the monetization tier.
Yes lol I leave comments all over. I think my videos would be more popular if I put them out more often. RUclips is (understandably) unkind to channels that only produce a handful of videos a year. Just need to work a little harder at it I think. Thanks for your support!
No I ended up keeping it. It grew on me lol. You're right about always needing something it has a bunch of little annoying problems. But it usually runs great so I've just been driving it.
For some reason when gasoline sits for years and years it corrodes metal containers. Something to do with it combining with oxygen and breaking down into acidic compounds. Not to mention water condensing inside and also causing rust.
That gas tank is toast. Should have just ebay-ed one.

@@AlwaysBored123 Damn that sucks. That gas tank is gonna start leaking again
That handful of rust gave me a good laugh

Hello from south Arkansas, Good Video, too bad the mercedes was to for gone.
Thanks!
Cool video. These cars can be really satisfying to own, but they always seem to need something. Did you end up selling this one?

how did so much crap get inside the gas tank?

Do you still have this?
I do. I was thinking of selling it.
