Thank u I’m 30 years old and my father never taught me how to tie my shoes. All my blessings go to u 🙌
I'm pleased to have been your stand-in teacher.
That’s a very nice comment Horny Police, thank you
I'm a 43-year old fart and it's thanks to you that I've learned that I've been making the mistake of tying a granny knot, which led to laces coming undone during my runs. I used to do right-over-left for both starting & finishing knots.
Going to start with left-over-right and finish as usual. Your explanation is so clear, precise and easy to understand. Love your website and channel. Thanks a ton. I'm pretty confident your knot techniques will make my runs a lot more pleasant.
Thanks for you kind words, Jay - and for telling me a bit about your old technique and how you've adapted it to avoid the “Granny Knot”. I'm confident that your running will be a lot less stressful for the next 43-odd years!
This two-and-a-half minute long video has been a bigger help for tying shoelaces than Mom and Grandpa ever were.
Kinda wish I came across this video sooner, because I pretty much had to rely on elastic laces and getting other people to tie my laces for me.
Great that this video made the knot easy for you. Enjoy your new shoelace freedom.
I'm 18 and I've never had the gist of doing my shoelaces, but i finally did them thanks to you! Thank you very much! :))
You're most welcome, I'm pleased to hear that I helped you learn at last.
@@ProfShoelace :DD Thank youu for replying!
;-)
I’m 30 y/o, and only knew the single knot, double knot feels so much better!! Thank you 😊
You're welcome, François. Next step, learn “Ian's Secure Knot” (*both* loops fed through) and you'll have a more secure version up your sleeve.
I'm 11 years old, I never knew how to tie my shoelace and this video really helped me how to tie my shoelace thank you so much 😁
I'm pleased that you were able to learn to tie your shoes using this technique. Congratulations!
Thanks so much that's really helped I did it first try
I'm pleased to hear that you found it so easy to learn from my video. Congratulations!
Since no one taught me how to tie my laces, I have learned to tie them like this miself, but after I do the first knot I do another double one to make sure it does not come undone, then the bow! ;)
A double starting knot does indeed hold things more tightly. Worth the extra effort for extra security.
Iuliana Madalina Nemes this is the only one that ever worked for me
THANK YOU SO MUCH, for some reason I’m a teen and after this video I have finally learned how to double knot my shoes!
You're most welcome, and congratulations on your success. We all have to learn some day!
This tutorial is so easy to follow along to
I'm happy that you found it easy. That's always the aim of a teacher.
Testuję wspaniały Wykład serdecznie POZDRAWIAM 👍
Thanks, I'm pleased that you liked the video.
Thank you so much I'm 10 and my family and teachers could never help me and my mom said she's really proud of me all because of u!! 😊Uu
Great stuff - congratulations on your success! I'm pleased that my video helped when others have failed.
Thanks sir 😊
You're welcome, mate.
Hey I was struggling to tie my shoelaces thanks so much 🙏
You're welcome, I'm pleased to have ended your struggle with this video.
I've been doing 2 bunny ears my whole life, 42 now, but have always made a granny knot and never known it.
Great to hear that you've learned the simple solution. You're welcome to keep using the familiar “bunny ears” now that you know that your laces will stay tied.
Thank you for doing that my mom‘s boyfriend did the same thing and now I finally figured it out
You're welcome, Colton. I'm pleased that you learned this from my video. Congratulations!
Wow that was easy I did it first try watching this video and I tried many other tutorials, nice and easy.
Congratulations on learning the knot so quickly. I'm pleased that my video made it easy for you.
It was really good thank you:)
You're most welcome, and thanks in return for your kind words.
Omg I can finally tie
Congratulations, Ana!
For me, idk why but this method much more easy than Ian and one loop!
But i finally learned to tie a knot!
Many people find this the easiest method, so why not use it? I'm pleased that it worked for you, Mrinmoy.
Thanks man I felt like a idiot when I didn’t know who to tie a shoe at 5 but I found out that it’s very normal
You're welcome, I'm happy that you found it easy to learn after all.
Your a good demonstrator thank you 🙏 I am in 6th grade I didn’t know how to tie my shoes I would get made fun of thank you so much 😊
Thanks, JJ, I'm pleased that you found it easy to follow my tutorial. Now no-one has a reason to make fun of you!

OMG THANK YOU MY FRIENDS CAN'T BULLY ME NOW
Funny how your friends are often the biggest teases! Great that you've now taken away some of the bait.
@@ProfShoelace YES YESSS THANK YOU!!
Worked 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Another success - congratulations!
Thank you so much!
You're most welcome.
I saw a kid do that once and I started tying my shoes this way. 30 years ago.
It's a great, useful technique that's easily learned, even just by one kid watching another.
When I was taught to tie my shoes in kindergarten, they tried showing me the regular way, the one loop that you pull the other lace through, I figured out this way and they told me I was wrong
That's cruel of your teachers to have belittled your creativity! The two knots are basically equivalent. Feel free to stick with whichever you find most comfortable.
@@ProfShoelace agreed and thank you, just never understood how getting the same end result was doing something wrong, have a good day!
Hey ive been using the two knot ever since i remember because the other seemed kinda complicated. It always works decently but the knot is not as strong.
Thank you
You're welcome.
Tysm
You're welcome.
Thanks
You're welcome, Jennifer.
Thanks! Your tutorials really help me out! I have combat lacing with a chain sinnet on my boots and it works great :)
You're most welcome, I'm pleased that you've been enjoying my tutorials. Sounds like you're ready for action with that lacing/knot combo!
ProfessorShoelace I can do it

Your the best
Thanks for your kind words, Carter.
Grade 6 don’t know how to tie my shoelaces but thx to you I know thx so much it it was so simple
I'm pleased that you succeeded. A simple knot with a simple explanation was all that was needed.
Thank you sir yeah
You're most welcome!
This works great with a runners knot
Interesting. Normally I recommend one of the more secure knots for running, but if this is working well for you, I'm certain not going to try to convince you otherwise.
I’m very happy that he replies to his comments😊 i’m so grateful
Likewise, I'm very happy to hear that my replies are appreciated.
Oh and. The strings start getting loose nowCould you help me with that they started to get really loose every time I tied them this Way.
Please check that you're tying the *whole* knot as I've shown. If you're doing a right-over-left Starting Knot (the opposite of mine), this will form a "Granny Knot", which comes loose just as you've described.
how long the shoelace . im try 140 cm shoelace but still cant straight .
I usually recommend that each end of the shoelace should be about 250mm (10”) from the middle of the Starting Knot to the tips.
Wish someone would show how to tie shoes missing index, middle & ring fingers on 1 hand. My grandson born without his 3 fingers on left hand
My “Ian Knot” will do the trick! I've just tested this myself using only the thumb and pinkie of my left hand - and succeeded easily. Of course, I have the benefit of years of practice. Please suggest this to your grandson. ruclips.net/video/_O-xaJrao1w/видео.html
I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on the Mega Ian Shoelace Knot along with the added step for the Quad Loop?
Okay, yours is the second recent request for the Mega Ian Knot. I'll get onto it ASAP.
Your request has been fulfilled:

You're welcome.
im 9 i should know this i didnt think i could but yeah it was actually pretty easy the whole time
Great news - congratulations! I'm pleased that my video made something seemingly difficult end up being easy.
thx u I have a Learning disability and I finally know how THX YOU
You're welcome, I'm happy to have helped you learn.
ProfessorShoelace :O
Can’t do this man I FUCK IT UP every time
Finally this vid is the only one that helps
I'm pleased that my video was a success for you.
ProfessorShoelace honestly thank you
You're most welcome.
One time i watched a five year old tie their shoes, meanwhile I’m over here in middle school and can’t even untie my shoes
One tip when untying is to only ever pull *one* of the loose ends, never both. That way, if the knot does decide to jam up on you, it can more easily be picked apart than if you'd pulled *both* ends, which jams much more rightly.
Yeah I’m 11 and I still don’t know how. I’ve tried ProfessorShoelace’s method but it’s not working but I’m a little messy so maybe I just have to make it more clean lol
@@jessicadlabura1079 I know the easiest way to tie your shoes, if you still want help.
@@K4inan omg i don’t even remember making this comment, i’m 13 now 😂 i can tie my shoes now, thank you tho.
@@jessicadlabura1079 I'm teaching my cousin who is 13 how to tie his shoelaces. It's weird because he's very smart. But tying his own shoes and how to read an analog clock is very difficult for him. I managed to teach him my method btw.
🙄 uhh I mean! This is 😌 good
Thanks, Ishaani, I'm happy you found the video helpful.
What is this magic
Check out my website - much magic exists there!
What is your opinion of the "Double-Bunny Ear Knot" where you feed it under and then over twice on the finish of the left side? I tried that and it seemed to create a very strong shoe-lace knot. Maybe it is also known by another name. Your website is super-informative and fun!
If you feed under and over twice on the same side, whether that be the left side or the right side, the result is an almost identical knot to the "Turquoise Turtle Shoelace Knot", which is indeed very secure:
www.fieggen.com/shoelace/turquoiseturtleknot.htm
Ok
Tontos
I’m 9 and know how to tie I learned today without watching this video
Congratulations on learning to tie your shoes, David.
Im in 5th grade and this is harder then math ;-;
Wait until you start learning topology in Maths! (*grin*)
In any case, maybe try my "Ian Knot". If and when you *do* succeed, you'll at least be a step ahead of most of your peers.
still trying to find something that teaches me how to make a loop
In true knotting terminology, folding the lace back on itself is technically *not* a "loop". But that's how most people think of a "loop" in relation to shoelaces.
@@ProfShoelace ok thanks so much
Thanks you very much
You're most welcome.
Hi
G'day, Jordan.
can you please do a video about what are the best shoe lacings for a high top shoe, a boot type of shoe or just a shoe lace for comfort on high top boots since i am no expert. I am asking for a dose of shoe lacing knowledge doctor. help!
That's a good question - with no easy answer. People use different lacings on high boots for different reasons. Some are chosen for speed of tightening boots (eg. Double Helix or Quick Tight), some for extra flexibility of heavy boots (eg. Army or Hiking/Biking), some for extra rigidity on hiking boots (eg. Ladder or Spider Web). Personally, I go for Over Under Lacing:
www.fieggen.com/shoelace/overunderlacing.htm
thx im not the only one that is 8
You're welcome. Whether you're 8 or 88, this shoelace knot works fine.
Hi, if I tie the shoes like in this movie, they will be properly tied ?
Correct, this forms a perfectly valid shoelace knot.
dumb i could not do it
Don't give up!
Ive watches 10000 videos and still dont know😭
Did my video help? If not, maybe try my website, which has step-by-step diagrams and instructions.
This is how i learned to tie my shoes in kindergarden, could not learn it the proper way
It's a wonderful alternative that most kids find easier to learn.
There is a much faster, and easier method to do this.
You probably mean my “Ian Knot”! True, this video shows the older, slower way. It's helpful for those who want to try different techniques.
I used this as a child, but my father used another knot, so switched because I wanted to use an adult knot.
Probably a good move in practice. Although technically the Two Loop Shoelace Knot is just as good as the One Loop Shoelace Knot, in real life, those who do use this knot invariably get teased for using a "kiddie's knot". Such is life.
I CANT DO IT
Sorry you're finding it difficult. Maybe try my "Ian Knot", which is probably a better alternative anyway:

Me Too
This video didn’t help me it made me break my shoes
How strange!
Its not fricking possible to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sense some frustration? Maybe try my website, which has animated, step-by-step diagrams and instructions.
I HATE this
No sweat, Lauren - everyone's different. Some people prefer the "Standard Shoelace Knot", some people prefer my "Ian Knot". Considering that all three form the same finished knot, you should perhaps try one of the others to see if they suit you better.
Thank you
