Currently watching with my 2023 trd pro Tacoma. Love this truck and plan on keeping it til I’m dead
I've driven my 2007 Ford Escape for 14 years everyday. It now has 198,000 miles. No bells or whistles. No issues. You would think it's 3 years old if it wasn't for the year/make/model.
I’ve been considering at 24 Tacoma, but may wait until the 25 model. Hopefully they can iron out some issues
@@georgia_flyfisher2200 the infotainment issues have been there since 2022 when the Tundra came out. You’d think that an over the air update could fix the issue, however it hasn’t yet. They may be able to fix the molding issue, but I don’t foresee them changing anything else on the 2025 model. I wouldn’t let the moldings deter you from purchasing now
@@RodneysnwridesandreviewsI am thinking that they will be quite a bit cheaper next year because the economy is getting so bad and sales will be getting worse.
@@GerryHavican that’s always a possibility. Once they get more inventory on the ground, the demand won’t be as high.
Great video Rodney. Love the honesty man.
@@OdysseyOffroad how’s the dirt bike riding coming along?
@@Rodneysnwridesandreviews slowly but surely 😂 going out again tomorrow evening 🤘🏻.
GREAT looking Tacoma! Love the looks of it and the color👍
I would suggest that you try to find a wider mud guard and if they might look bad then get a set of side steps that would be wide enough to catch those rocks. I am waiting for my 2024 Tacoma in Blue Crush Metallic that has the Premium Package. It’s been in production for several weeks now. I appreciate your video that shows the rock chip problem. I’m going the side step solution to the rock chips because I like the way a truck looks with them on. Also I am getting this truck from a dealer in Montana. I got tired of waiting for a truck in my color or the red color like yours, from my dealer in South Dakota. I just lucked out getting the Premium Package. I guess I called the Montana dealer at just the right time.
@@lc7192 thanks for the suggestion. Congratulations on finding a premium package
@@Rodneysnwridesandreviewsthe rock chipping preventative measure is to ceramic coat/wrap those areas that get the chips
Holy rock chips batman. Put some side steps on the truck as well, that should help. Toyota or future owners should add more clear paint protection to that spot.
Hi , love your reviews. Little question, when you have a bit of weight in the box did you ever notice the coil springs bottom out on the the rubber absorbers? Im saying a little weight..300 lbs maybe...i noticed it when i drove over a dip in the road and suspension in the back bottomed out..i was suprised
@@patrickboulet1134 no I’ve never noticed it bottom out, but the coil springs do react differently than the leaf springs. It feels smoother on the small bumps, but then almost harsh feeling like it did bottom out on some bigger pot holes. The new Tundra feels like that also.
Well the nice thing about your situation is that you work at a dealership; reference use it, abuse it per se, and trade it in for a 2025 Tacoma.👍🏻👏🏻
Put sound deadening on 2024 Toyota Tacoma
for example, the double cab back wall with bench seat folded down not to hear road noise inside the cab.
The noise you hear with the rear seat folded is the cab vent. It’s just a light rubber flap that keeps dust from getting in the cab. It allows the doors to shut by allowing air to escape. Insulation won’t prevent this. Maybe a blanket over it would help cut some noise and allow enough air to escape but you’ll have to remove whatever is mounted in front of it. The bed rail might be a bad design of the part itself or the mold in the factory or the process of the injection itself.
That rock chip problem is pretty bad. Are you planning on getting some wider mud guards?
@@jmpattillo I’m looking for wider mudguards, but I haven’t found any that I like. Regken is coming out with some so I’m waiting patiently
I have a 24 sport in underground and the paint seems to scratch very easily, noticed it when installing the new prinsu style rack on the roof, which by the way is very noisy with wind noise.
ARK Splash Guards makes what looks like a wider more effective Mud Flap.
Rodney, I am retired and this whole internet thing has me confused at times. I have a green 2023 1794 Tundra. Could you tell me the best way to sell it? My life has changed…. Life!
@@rdcampos1 If you’re wanting to sell it fast, I would recommend contacting Driveway, Carvana, or Carmax. If you have a little time, you could try to sell it outright yourself. Many Toyota dealership’s are reluctant to purchase them because if there’s an open recall on it for the motor, they wouldn’t be able to re-sell it until after the motor is replaced, and that could be a while.
@@Rodneysnwridesandreviews Thank you, I was told that my engine is not included in the recall…. How can I tell?
@@rdcampos1 if it is included, you would have received a recall notification through your Toyota connected services app on your phone
You lifted it 1.5” in the front and put on a wider tire… thus your rock chip issue.
My #1 complaint on mine is the mud flaps. #2 mine is a TRD Sport and the damn hood flexes when hitting bumps.
@@paulnirschl6500 the hood is because they’re aluminum now. You’re not the first one to complain about that. Thanks for the feedback
@@Rodneysnwridesandreviews yah but I came up with a fix that got 90% of the flex to stop. Toyota dealership was no help and neither was Toyota at least not the person in India that I spoke to.
@@paulnirschl6500 what did you do to fix it?
@@Rodneysnwridesandreviews you need 2’ of 1/2”&5/8” heater hose. Cut to length to fit on each side of the washer nozzles, then slit the pieces to go over the lip on the cowl and stack the 5/8 over the 1/2. I then put some camper weather striping on the underside of the hood above the heater hose just to insure the paint wouldn’t get rubbed off. This gave the hood in front of the windshield some support. That took care of 75% of it, I then cut some foam pipe insulation in half and put that in between the 2 layers of the hood at the edges of the hood scoop to support that to get rid of 20% more. Total cost to lessen the very annoying hood flex about $15 that Toyota either didn’t catch on testing or just didn’t care enough to correct.
@@paulnirschl6500 I haven’t noticed the flex on my Tacoma hood as much as I’ve seen it on the Grand Highlander. The hood line on the Grand Highlander is very flat, and doesn’t have as much contour to it. It’s all about the weight reduction, but I agree they could have come up with some reinforcement to prevent. Great ingenuity
What tire pressure are you running? Thanks
I have a ‘24 Sport. No. Tonneau cover. Mine has done the same thing passenger side bed rail . Already had it back to the dealer twice. Now they are ordering a new part. No telling when it will come in, or if it will fix the issue. Sigh. I don’t have nearly the miles on mine as you do on yours Im barely at 500.
A lot of discussion is more on the longevity of the truck.
One thing also, you gripe about having narrower mud flaps that is causing rock chips by the bed, but you put on wider tires. That does not make sense.
Do you enjoy driving your new Tacoma more than the 2022 Tundra?
@@CK-gf4ns no, the Tundra is a more enjoyable ride out on the hwy, but the Tacoma is much better as a daily driver around town, and getting in and out of parking spaces. The Tacoma better suits my life style, and that part I do enjoy.
The paint is terrible. Look closely, you'll see it. The truck has no bump stops on the LCA. That's ridiculous . Shocks are blowing through the tower. The worst thing of it is, I bought one. Fair review.
Man Toyota really thought they upgraded the Tacoma but they missed on a lot
I definitely wouldn't buy one I think the last gen looks a lot better
Did you get your recall notice yet😂
@@Casitascrawlers no recalls yet
You already know about rock chips and still decided to go wider tires on that note why not get wider mud flaps 1st then see if that will prevent the chips.
@@erwinprincipe08 unfortunately I didn’t know about the rock chips until I added the tires to it. It had mudguards on it when I bought, so didn’t give it a lot of thought at the time. I’m currently trying to find some wider mudguards for it.
The paint on the tacoma is so cheap chips and scratchs so easily. The rock chips look so bad on your truck. That sucks that happened. Needs the 3m clear tape there to
Thanks for sharing.
I prefer ranger supercab xlt 2019 2021
yes paint seem so cheap and not enough layer of paint on it
I would put a big set of the square Yosemite Sam “back off” mudflaps on it.
Mediocre truck at a premium price. 3 years ago the Tacoma would have been my first choice in the segment, now it would be my last choice.
What would be your first choice now?
Canyon/Colorado
“And that’s why I drive my moms 06 Altima”
I suggest you change your brand of vehicle .
You lost me at rough country.
It’s all about longevity. Chevy and Ford makes trucks that perform better than the Tacoma. We buy Tacomas for reliability.
Short bed looks weird.
