I think this more started in 2019 since that was the year when Polo G, Tjay, and Tecca first blew up. But 2020 and 2021 was when they had their peak years. The problem was simply because they were not versatile (there was a reason why Polo G was a meme in 2021). But this does not mean 2020 or 2021 were not good years as a lot of great albums came out in those years. I also think there are worse examples of rappers in that era like Pooh Sheisty (who is locked up), DaBaby (as he is known as a joke now), and Roddy Ricch (as he had a grand downfall)
Mightve been a bit unclear, Polo and Tjay were exemples of rappers who manage to keep their sucess compared to others around that time
bru tecca's peak is yet to come trust me Polo G, Tjay needs to drop more often

2021 was a crazy year for rap , i havent watched the full vid yet but that thumbnail is misleading asl
They were good but the SoundCloud era rappers before them had more personality and better music

8:50 its harder because your competing with a lot more ppl who just rap but dont actually put out art or something different from the norm and now your timeline is swamped with so many to where you dont wanna listen to them anymore 8:54 just making good music. eventually someone is going to be a fan of yours. i rly hope for the second one. i dont wanna be famous i just wanna have my own wave
