Teachers who make their sexuality their whole personality are just weird, especially when they are encouraging this kind of behavior onto kids…
Edit: I don’t really care if a teacher is gay, straight, etc. Let kids be kids, they will discover this on their own once they can make their own choices (like in high school). It’s like those kids who go on hormone blockers or transition into another gender, they will later regret their decision and impact them greatly (because they don’t know any better, they won’t think about the consequences), once they’re old enough, they can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it’s safe.
When people say these things, people will call them transphobic or homophobic but people are just trying to protect kids from damaging themselves. There are things that are happening in pride month about involving kids, saying things like ‘kids will love us’ or ‘kids will join us’ don’t you think that’s just…gross?
I think anybody that can't learn to dial it back needs to be confronted. Like dude identify how you want but maybe keep shit to yourself.

I know - in the UK, I don’t know about the USA - if you want to work in ANY form of childcare or with people (ie nursing, teaching, social services) you NEED to keep a squeaky clean social media record from pretty much the second you create that account so it doesn’t come back and bite you in the backside to ensure that you are best suited to look after the public. This is one of the things that was drilled into myself when in my first year of college for early learning

As someone studying to become a teacher and a person a part of the queer community, there is a huge level of disconnect and professionalism I see all around social media with people like this and really all “teacher influencers”
People get too caught up in pushing this ideal of picture perfect representation or diversity in the classroom that they forget the goal at the end of the day is not changing the personal opinions of their students, it is fostering a safe environment for EVERYONE to learn and remain professional.

I’m queer and people like Fuzzy annoy me. I do agree that you should be open with your identity if you’re comfortable, and be happy with who you are. You should be allowed to go by whatever pronouns you feel best with, and as long as the person you love is consenting, sane, and legal, you can love them. I love that Fuzz open about their identity, I encourage being open. I think kids should know queer people exist, I wish I knew people like me existed when I was a kid. BUT when it’s all you post about, personally it rubs me off the wrong way. There’s more to yourself than what you identify. While some queer people go through that stage of making it their personality (I definitely did) you grow out of it. But I will also add, both sides of the argument is cringe because some (MAIN WORD, SOME) of their haters are just using them as a punching bag for homophobic and transphobic jokes instead of actual criticism. So both sides of the argument are insufferable to me tbh.

As someone in a small town who’s almost gotten hatecrimed on multiple accounts for being queer (threats, throwing objects, chasing, sh like that) it disgusts me that he can say that he was hatecrimed. I am in constant fear i will get beat or worse even going to the park. This is absolutely ridiculous.
She would have been bullied mercilessly out of my small Catholic school. I can think of 3 teachers off the top of my head who had break-downs and walked out mid-semester, mid-day, and never returned. They don’t get taught how to “praise” anything. People like you make the LGBTQ sound like some cult, and you treat it like some big problem but really it’s just a community of people who can sympathize and relate to each other in different ways. I think it’s good kids learn to be accepting of people, and just because there’s one person in the community who’s cringey and weird doesn’t mean they all are..I swear, people just need to be more open-minded these days.
There's nothing wrong with being gay, or non-binary, or any part of the LGBTQ, and there's nothing wrong with letting it be known. However, there is an issue when you act like a literal child about it. If you want to teach kids about the LGBTQ you can do it in a mature way. This is not it.

@@gyozanomics I disagree with your opinion on the LGBTQ community. Though I'll be focusing on what the most I got from the video and on the comment. Yes, representation of lesser-known communities and helping others learn about it to be more mindful and aware of others and be more respectful to people. However, I think the comment might be saying that the teacher handled the situation poorly, and there has been a lack of communication or proper handling of the teacher's career. I advocate for only passive and light activism that doesn't shove information and force the person to side with whatever, and because of the teacher has some activism techniques that seemed a bit more aggressive than what the teacher was trying to go for. (Again I still don't understand the full situation just yet, but I'll stay in the middle since I can't form an opinion on it)
