    you can get a plug timer so it will turn off the power to your slow cooker after a certain amount of time, this is a life saver because my slow cooker cooks stuff to fast as well

    Modern slow cookers are generally hotter than old ones regardless of make. You need a slow cooker that is around 120w if you want to leave it cooking all day, wether slow cookers are made with that low wattage today I don’t know. Alternatively buy a plug in timer and plug your slow cooker into that. Note I don’t know if electric appliances power is measured by watts in your country, so you would also need to check that.

    The reason they say breast side down is because it keeps the breast meat tender and moist and not dry ❤️

    Hi
    In the UK we can get a plug that acts as a timer. You could set the timer to start a number of hrs after you leave the house, or turn off after 3 to 5hrs from start of cooking. Neather is briliant but a possible work around.

    Yummy, we had chicken last night too lol. I love my crockpot too from Costco but it's fast as u said, mine doesn't have the locks on top tho. I had an old one that had knobs u turn it was old fashion but much better I gave it to my daughter (regretting it lol). Never heard of the rub, sounds yummy, I usually make my own blend in big batch and store it in a jar. Great video girlie, TFS. Have a awesome day 💕💕

      @CraftySherCupcake  6 лет назад

      I'm so glad to hear it's not just mine that cooks way to fast!!! Kinda defeats the purpose of "slow cooking" doesn't it?! Lol!!!
      I'm so glad I kept my old one as a back up, it has the old knobs that you turn too😜
      Chicken is always my go to easy dinner choice! We eat that a lot!!! 😉 The locking latch things are great when you have to take it somewhere, no worries about it spilling!!!
      TFW as always my friend!!! Xo 💕💕

    I put the chicken under the broiler for a few minutes after cooking to crisp the skin up nice.

  • @johnsaldivar2619

    Thank you SO much. I inherited a crockpot which operates exactly as you describe! But it is not digital. It has a switch with Low//High/Warm but even the warm setting is fierce! In fact I looked up this in order to cook a young chicken in it! It works perfect for Mexican dishes like carne guisada where all one needs to do is add about 2-4 LBS of precut beef tips and the gravy mix and it works great! That is the only thing I have made so far but I am wanting to cook a full cow tongue aka "lengua" and of course your chicken recipe!

    • @johnsaldivar2619
      @johnsaldivar2619 Год назад

      The chicken was great! I recommend the young hen ready to cook ones rather than the ones with neck , gizzards and stuff inside. As you said, put it breast side down or legs up and make sure it does not stick or get too hot! If left to cook it should literally all fall off the bone! I give the skin and undesirable materials to my cats without the bones.

    you could wrap your potatoes and carrotts etc in foil and place at the sides of the chicken so it dosent go near the fat n juices even sweetcorn is nice done in foil to . hope that helps

      Crafty Sher Cupcake I make this regularly and a good tip is to use tin foil and line the whole crockpot insert with a double layer of foil but leave enough to remain outside so it acts like a sling, then when it’s cooked remove lid and pull out using the foil as a carry sling over onto a tray or plate etc. Easy to do and makes it easier to get out xx

    The new crockpots cook at a higher temp because of some stupid rule that they have to be at boil temperature. I googled it and found out, becuase all the new ones I bought thinking it was the crockpot, it's not, they all are made that way, they ruined the whole point of a crockpot.!

    I know it's been a long time since you posted this video but I was looking for a recipe and came across it and watched it just to let you know I think all crock pots like that anyway get hot maybe not but mine do the same thing also a little hack for you halfway through my cooking time on some of my recipes I will flip my Crock-Pot around. But yes to answer your question from me anyway mine gets hot too and I have like four of them and they all do the same thing they're not the same brand you got though.

    I have the same crockpot. It does indeed run hot. I kept my mustard yellow (kind of ugly lol 😅) vintage crackpot for this exact reason. I use the newer one for making bone broths as I came make it in basically half the time. Thank you for posting this video.
