      I too owns an S23 and within 10 days of my purchase it dropped from my pants pocket (while driving a scooter) to the road. But I was lucky that I was able to find my phone undamaged lying on the road as there were no vehicles behind me. Yes its bcoz of the case my phone survived the drop (But if there was a vehicle behind me, it would have passed over it and my phone would have totally damaged). The case didn't broke but had many scratches and dents on it (It was a transparent hard case). After this incident I didn't wanted to take a risk and purchased a more expensive rugged type case for my S23 (Ringke Fusion X Camo).

    Coming from S21 that I used regularly with or without case, I'm confident to say it doesn't matter much for protection if your aim is to keep the phone looking pristine after years. Dust will find their way between the gap on the case, the rubber from case leave marks on the phone and so on. I stopped using screen protector for more than 2 years, and my screen still looks fine with barely noticeable wear.
    But still , I like this video where the phone dropped naked. At least I know my new S23+ can handle drop that much without immediately broken. With so many 2 factors authorization involved nowadays, it's hard to dispose old phones without making sure I've backup and transfer every important stuffs.

      Plastic screen? Any example, please?
      By my point of view drop-proofness should be something that need to be critically improved, much more if we consider that smartphones are almost equal in any other aspect, year after year: batteries, screens, cameras (the vanilla S23 and iPhone 14 are great examples for this, not much new on sight).
      However, manufacturers earn money from our drops. In other words, they are not interested in improving it. Especially, when none of them are signified to be great at this: no competence for this crown.

Even if this phone has Victus 2 protection, one need to definitely change their Display or Back glass. These kind of false protection claims will only help to increase the smartphone price. Either the corner will break a bit (1 mm diameter) first time. Then the crack will spread each time only when the phone is dropped again.

      Hi, drop tests have been done by many people on that phone already, or else I would consider doing it.

    I had a huawei p30pro, it fell on the floor k times, from the motorcycle at 80 kmh with a quad (ATV) few times without any breakage, now I have an s23+ and I'm worried

    Why is it not recommended to submerge this into water even though it's the same IP68 rated as other waterproof phones? I just read this everywhere but I don't get it. Did or would you try?

    • @warrenbraswell9785
      @warrenbraswell9785 Год назад +8

      Because it's a water resistance rating and not water proof. The device is not like to allow water to breach its seals, but nothing is guaranteed. I've run my S-series devices under faucets and taken them in lake/river with no ill effects. Rinse with fresh water afterwards.

    • @ZotmundSzele

      @@warrenbraswell9785 But other IP68 rated devices are waterproof, like the iPhones or Pixels. So IP68 should be the same, no?

    • @BelgianGurista
      @BelgianGurista Год назад

      So a phone isn't completly waterproof:
      - temperature changes can cause the seals to break or weaken.
      - physical damage to the device, such as cracks or scratches.
      - the rating is given under controlled laboratory conditions and may not take into account the different scenarios that a device can be exposed to in the real world.
      Something about water you might know and don't know. It's states solid (ice), liquid and gas (vapor). It's said, but to my knowledge not proven, that vapor can cause damage over time.
      - The contamination of the water such as salt (sweat) or others that can acidify water that can cause seals to wear out.
      Tl;dr The accidental drop in the toilet won't break it, just don't pee on it every day.

      @@ZotmundSzele ip 68 isn't "waterproof"
      Waterproof means it can completely withstand water but phones have limits

    • @ZotmundSzele
      @ZotmundSzele Год назад

      @@dirtydirtsgt4751 Ok, but in phone and IP rating terms you can submerge them for 30 mins in 1,5m water. So I don't see why they still don't recommend it. IP 54 and such is ok. That's what I mean.

      не существует не разбивающегося стекла. оно такое хрупкое потому что сам размер стекла большой, и толщина стекла очень маленькая. попробуй разбить такими же падениями толстый лист стекла тех же размеров, и сильно удивишься
