I would still like to see drop test from shoulder height. Many times I continue using my phone with already broken screen and would be nice to see how it continues to resist after the integrity is already broken
Ummm, doesn't this video prove the exact opposite? I mean, the screen chipped but the phone's body survived so you absolutely must use a screen protector, but a heavy case isn't mandatory
With glass - it is always a compromise. a softer glass is more drop and shatter resistant ... but much easier to scratch (especially microscratches). A hard screen (lets say - the hardest used on any smartphone yet .. HTC U Ultra 128gb version with a sapphire screen) ... nearly impossible to scrach (lvl9) .. but very easy to shatter on drop. Similar with the frame - a soft frame can take some impact force from a drop by denting. Some more force is taken from the thin plastic frame the glass sits in - and it all adds up. A very hard frame offers less impact deformity, transferring more force to the plastic rim and thus to the glass itself.
all depends on what type of glass and tech is used. look at kunlun glass on the mate 60 pro. it's both really strong which doesn't break and very scratch resistant at the same time
@@PBKreviews i do not know Kunlun glass. Is it more like Apples ceramic shielding? slightly less scratches at lvl6 .. but still lvl6? or is it like this Samsung glass that seems to endure lvl6. I still cannot quite believe it - because if it was an actual lvl higher than tempered glass ... it should completely shrug off micro abresions in daily usage (judging from an HTC U Ultra with sapphire screen, that my father has, that still has a pristine screen). I mean, Samsung wont bless us with transparent aluminium, because that is way too expensive and also even more resistant than sapphire.

does this thing still plague with premature oleophobic coating wear out? I wanted to know about the durability of the titanium, particularly if it was scratch resistant and if Samsung learned from the Apple iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max situation. Good to finally know that the phone titanium is not scratch resistant.

respect to him for your sacrifice. That phone is tough! it is understandable there will be scratches when it impacts hard concrete. or on a single pressure point like corners hit first. bound to chip off something. My Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is also quite tough, it has survive a lot of drops until the back glass finally cracked (a few spider web patterns). the hardest drops are on the corners or when it drop together with a stand (extra weight). my tempered glass is cracked but the screen is still good.
That is why I ALWAYS get a "Durable Military Shockproof metal Bumper Silicone Case. Protected my previous phone like brand new for 4 years(went through 2 cases). Loving my S24 Ultra now.

@Zaturn_ I only paid $35 for it, so it wasn't the full $64. I have a connection at Best Buy. MY last 5 phones have survived a lot with the Defender Pro.
Worth mentioning, the crack you got initially was on the curve. Everyone is talking about how they love flat screens because they're so much more durable, but this is still slightly curved on the side edges. As you can see, any curve at all compromises that front panel.
This is sorry of a luck test. I've dropped my S23 Ultra hundreds of times on concrete, apart from few scratches on edges of the frame, nothing at all. Looks pristine
Wow u have slippery fingers - hundreds of times! - and just a few scratches on the edge of the frame! Me, I'll drop it once from a few feet and it will probably be kaput!
It's kinda sad. They design phones to look great with all that titanium case, but then you have to squeeze it into a plastic-rubber protection case to safe it from damages.
What do do you think abort the titanium frame of the S24 Ultra is It in your opinion stranger then the one on the IPhone 15 Pro Max course i saw the bent test from Jerry rig everything when hi was making the bent test on the 15 pro max the the titanium fram brook . I say this becourse i got my New S24 Ultra yesterday ( 512 GB )
I'm not sure how strong it is against bending compared to the 15 pro max since I didn't attempt to bend a 15 pro max before, but I do think its better against scratching and damage from the looks of it.
I can recommend to choose a cover with a black frame instead. The dark color really helps to make scratches disappear. In wirst case you could use a black permanent marker with the same color
You must add more pressure when performing a scratch test with sand on the screen ... To better replicate pressure from your leg onto something like a chair or table . Rather than just tapping the sand lightly .
It looks like I'm moving around the sand lightly but I'm putting pressure. You can also watch the mohs scratch test video I did for another idea of the resistance.
@@PBKreviews it's just i know that dust and dirt is often the cause of screen scratches , and often when we lean on something like a table , resulting in bad scratches .
I bought this phone yesterday, they gave me a free Samsung silicone cover. It only lasted 6 hours, the screen cracked badly on the first drop, but I have to admit the drop was on rough concrete. This is a heavy weight phone!! wonder how much it will cost to replace the screen since the the local authorized service center it doesn’t have the part available.
I havent watched a drop test since Galaxy S6 and judging from the reaction, you seem pretty disappointed with the results. I see minimal cracks yet on the screen but you seem rather harsh on it. Is it the standard now for a phone to be able to tank a drop test with no cracks/scratches?
There are phones like the mate 60 pro which survive drops of all kinds plus more. But the reason I wasn't completely happy was the fact that it's a flat design vs last year's curved which on its own should be a big improvement for drops since curved is weaker. But on top of the more flat design, it has a newer gen glass on top so I was expecting it to survive a drop from waist height with no cracks. But the glass is still rounded at the edges causing it to be weaker there. on the S24 drop test video you will see it's completely flat and survived drops from higher.
I'm just worried about the battery swelling up in this phone after a couple of years, like what happened with the previous Galaxy phones that I owned, that's what I don't like about the Galaxy phones, the phone itself is nice and everything, but it's the issue with the swelling of the batteries in the Galaxy phones that I really don't like, had it in a case and never dropped it either, and that hasn't happened at all with my 6 year old Iphone 8 plus, I don't know if I ever want to take a chance with getting another Galaxy phone, it would probably come apart after a year or two, that's my biggest gripe with Samsung Galaxy phones
@That_One_Guy-STL just looked at my settings. it a 21 ultra more older, but was around the same price. You can see them when the phone is off. The drop test on the new 24, and it chips easy, which Shouldn't for the money. They should use tougher glasse Shouldn't have to buy screen protectors
this is the first drop & scratch test on youtube, i'm still waiting for mine to be delivered hopefully by tomorrow. And it's amazing to see it leaves no scratch after the sand test, I'm really struggling on whether to put a screen protector over this amazing screen, even with this test video, I'm still worried, I think in the end, a screen protector still...🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some crazy Indian youtuber did many drop test of premium phone to date. S24U, S23U, Ip 15 pro max, OP12, Iqoo 12, etc. Most of these flagship phone's screen survive drop test except OP12 because of the heavy weight. The usual crack happen at the back glass especially if the back glass is weaker than the front glass like the Iphone. First place goes to Iqoo12 with no dmg at all using Schott glass and aluminium frame. So yes, you need a good case more than a good screen protector nowadays for flagship phone. I would say you don't need a screen protector at all for S24U because you will lose the anti reflection feature. If you hate scratches on screen then get the wallet type case.
Bro I am a master student of material engineering and my field is ceramic so I can maybe be the only a few people who can answer you,in fact Huawei and its partner which are making Kunlun glass just use from a rather old but never used transparent material name"nano transparent glass ceramics" which at least in term of thermodynamic science basicly doesn't consider a glass or amorph structural material unlike glass including gorilla glass.I don't blame Kunlun glass or Huawei at all in fact they didn't a great work but their material is not comparisonable with gorilla glass.
Very cool. While it looks fragile from the first drop, I'm thinking the most minimal case with somewhat of a lip above the screen (such as a number of those Aramid/fiber cases) plus screen protector probably would like prevented the damage. A bigger case, even better. Glad to find a drop test on RUclips! I might pony up for the insurance just in case lol.
At minimum put a TPU Screen Protector on yours. Looks like Titanium isn't much tougher that Aluminum here. I just have a question, what do u u do after this test with this phone do u throw it away?
bro I searched for so long for a drop test, thank you for doing these videos
You're welcome :)
I would still like to see drop test from shoulder height. Many times I continue using my phone with already broken screen and would be nice to see how it continues to resist after the integrity is already broken
👍
Thanks for the fast video. Now I'm considering using a case but no screen protector.
You're welcome
Ummm, doesn't this video prove the exact opposite? I mean, the screen chipped but the phone's body survived so you absolutely must use a screen protector, but a heavy case isn't mandatory
Needs armour case. With side protection.
yo no se si quitarle el vidrio templado xd pero no quiero que se raye la pantalla xd
I've always wondered what happens to these phones after they get scratched and taken apart/reassembled.
usually I wait for parts to become available and I repair them, or I sell them as is broken.
Really appreciarlte this men. Ill subscribe to you since you are the first to do the drop test
👍 thanks
Thanks. Been thinking of not using cases anymore. This gives me more confidence to go caseless
You're welcome
Caseless?
If you have a low end or mid range phone sure. But this thing costs $1300 so a case is a MUST regardless if it has Gorilla or Godzilla Armor.
@@Gurenn83 I have insurance on my devices, worst case, I pay 250 MAX for a full replacement but only $20 for a screen replacement.
@@1993rufus how much do u pay for that insurance and will they replace it even if u accidently drop it
How come you didn't use the scratch kit like you did on the s22 and s23, ultra. How did it hold up when you did that? Or have you done it yet on this phone?
I just uploaded a scratch test video with the scratch kit since a lot of people were asking for it.
That shit looks pretty durable. Just one more day to have mine :D
Me too. 😂. We the S24 gang 🤣
Just one more day? Well that is fast.
mine toooo
how are you getting it so early?
@@mantid83 i Made pre order and thats why i Will get it tomorrow s24 ultra on 24 jan. Lol
I don't think you should be dropping any kind of electronics whether it's a phone or not but yes accidents happen I don't know why anybody would not want some sort of a ultra thin case minimally on their phone or something clear
Cos some people like me prefer to touch the original body/case of the phone.
And yes I go caseless.
You used the same color to test that is going to be delivered to me tomorrow. The video is actually amazing, and giving the details of sturdyness of the device. Thanks man, love from 🇮🇳
You're welcome :)
Bro how much do you sell after the drop test.? let know when to pick or schedule for a pick up
This channel deserves more subscribers. Thank you for the great content
Thanks
does this thing still plague with premature oleophobic coating wear out?
I used to have Note 9 and now have s23u and both are having the same issue which is oleophobic coating wear off in the spot of where my right thumb is mostly on the screen.
other brands like apple or chinese phone does not have this premature coating wear off issue.
Not sure, haven't noticed anything this early on even after the scratch test.
@@PBKreviews Thank you. only time will tell then and i doubt that olephobic coating on SS has some kind of an issue under some specific using environment which cause a premature wear off of an oleophobic coating on their screens.
thumbs up for detailed teardown
Damn! Cracked from just a waist height drop! So much for Samsung’s S24 Ultra being built like a tank 🤭🤣
lol
If you compare it to the iphone and s23u, IT IS A TANK
Did better than the 15PM LMAOO. It couldn’t even survive a bend test 🤭🤣
I wanted to know about the durability of the titanium, particularly if it was scratch resistant and if Samsung learned from the Apple iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max situation. Good to finally know that the phone titanium is not scratch resistant.
In my opinion I think it handled the scratching on the frame much better.
kudos to samsung for making a more durable phone. not as good as the honor x9b, but waaaaaay better than the s23 ultra
👍
I am honestly shocked that when you put that sand on the screen and rubbed it in that it didn't leave a mark or scratch!! That gave me a lot of anxiety to watch lol but it was nice to see the positive results!!
👍 :)
Samsung wasn't kidding about 7 year software support. They really made it to last 7 years✨️
Was you made this after teardown it? Or you use a different phone for teardown?🤔
I did the drop test first, then took the phone apart after.
Scratch resistance is a very good improvement
👍
Bro i just wanted to know if the power button is shaket and loose for your phone when your first got it. Please can i get an answer because i am woried about my s24 ultra having that.
Неееееет, только не фиолетовый, он же такоц красивый 😢😱😱😱
Is titanium used in s24 ultra grade 5.
Also, as per Samsung website the side key and volume keys are not made of titanium.
Lastly, can you tell whether the anti reflective properties are part of gorilla glass armor or they are put over it just like oleophobic coating.
Anti reflective properties are defective due to glass, cause only coating wouldn't work that good
@@thealaris so you are saying that it is a part of gorilla glass armor and not on top of it.
@@V1P3R089 Ofc, it's all about material transparency
@@thealaris ok.. so it won't fade away like olephobic coating.
respect to him for your sacrifice.
👍
That is why I ALWAYS get a "Durable Military Shockproof metal Bumper Silicone Case. Protected my previous phone like brand new for 4 years(went through 2 cases). Loving my S24 Ultra now.
I'm using the Otterbox Defender Pro on my S24 Ultra, no screen protector. I've used the same combo since S9+ and haven't had any issues.
@@That_One_Guy-STL Nice solid lightweight case. A bit pricey though. I got my -Simicoo Samsung S24 Ultra Metal Bumper Silicone Case- for 1/3 of the Ottercase price.
I removed the clear cover from my case and I love my case. It is a little heavier, it has screws, but I dont mind.
@Zaturn_ I only paid $35 for it, so it wasn't the full $64. I have a connection at Best Buy. MY last 5 phones have survived a lot with the Defender Pro.
no se si usar protector de pantalla solo para que no se raye xd
I have one question. Does Samsung approve this or do you need to pay for the phone by yourself. 😊
Paid for it myself :)
Exactly I miss the metal body era of phones like htc one only needed a screen protector back couldn’t crack
i cant afford to buy samsung galaxy 24..can i have your sample..😂
Go get a job and buy one yourself lazy
Idk if face down is how most people drop their phones. Every drop of mine has been by missing my pocket so corner it is... from waist or chest height.
Is the frame all titanium or just little coating and aluminium inside like apple?
Probably second one, but it's not coating, it's two metals fused together,
@@thealaris okay that's what I meant but used wrong like wording
What do do you think abort the titanium frame of the S24 Ultra is It in your opinion stranger then the one on the IPhone 15 Pro Max course i saw the bent test from Jerry rig everything when hi was making the bent test on the 15 pro max the the titanium fram brook . I say this becourse i got my New S24 Ultra yesterday ( 512 GB )
I'm not sure how strong it is against bending compared to the 15 pro max since I didn't attempt to bend a 15 pro max before, but I do think its better against scratching and damage from the looks of it.
would love to see head height drop, phone will usually get dropped multiple times...
also fliping it and drop to random position as well would be nice
Imagine buying a $1300 phone and seeing it getting cracked by a single drop from waist height. (POV: You were just about to put on the case.)
lol
Oh noooo o I will not even open the seal off until o get the corner case or grip case 😅
I can recommend to choose a cover with a black frame instead. The dark color really helps to make scratches disappear. In wirst case you could use a black permanent marker with the same color
Tu revends le téléphone après le test, à prix réduit ??
yeah usually list them online as disassembled or drop tested units depending on which they are or sell them locally.
How tall are you? Just need the meters for curiousity of this test
5 foot 8 inches
Hello when will the regular S24 be tested?
sometime this week maybe
@@PBKreviews will you remember about the Samsung S24 bend test please ? there was no bend test in your S23 video :/
This Pains More Than Breakup For Tech People, But Guys Remember Someone Has To Do This For Us !
👍
Appreciate this alot man! But it hurt to see it slapping the concrete in slow mo 🤣
👍
Yep not sure, but it does happen to other phones as well from time to time. Hopefully they fixed that issue.

I saw that cell phone and thought it might be exactly what I need. It would be an incredible gift that would make my life easier in so many ways.
I have a mint condition note 10 plus that still works great any tell me if I should trade up to the s24 ultra
I have more doubts about the griller glass, my Samsung 22 ultra has a got of chips in the glass, no idea how.
I've had my S22 Ultra for over two years and though it has a few micro scratches there is nothing you can see unless tilting it in bright light.
And it's amazing to see it leaves no scratch after the sand test, I'm really struggling on whether to put a screen protector over this amazing screen, even with this test video, I'm still worried, I think in the end, a screen protector still...🤣🤣🤣🤣
How tomorrow? Comes out 31st no?
👍
Got my s24 ultra delivered to me today. Not activating it until my case and screen protector gets here@@juliesmacks
The most expensive drop test, Samsung, should make a dummy phone for drop test
No micro scratches either? The ones you can see when pointing a flashlight to the screen
👍
I have the S21 ultra, same case dropped many times and still works like new and looks new. Verizon was surprised after 4yrs it being untouched
Yeah a case should definitely prevent such damage. 👍
At minimum put a TPU Screen Protector on yours.
Looks like Titanium isn't much tougher that Aluminum here.
I've had a EVG TPU Screen Protector on my S22 Ultra since it's release & I don't have a single micro scratch on the screen.
I Even Dropped it from belt height on to rocks & all I seen was a shattered display, I freaked!
Then I pulled off the TPU Protector & nothing, not even a scratch!
These made me a believer!
I'll be putting Glass Screen Protector on my S24 Ultra..
THE HORROR PROBLEM WITH MODERN PHONE IS NOT NARSCISITIC DURABILITY BUT 🔋 🔋 OVER HEAT 🔥 🔥 AND UNABLE TO RESIST (SUN) + RECORDING
Sad... why there is no new glass like the moto z2 force had. This screen could not break. And then a thin scratch resistant glas on the top or maby even a super thin film that do not break too
There are phones like the Mate 60 Pro which have kunlun glass that doesn't break, but not sure why manufacturers here in the US are not using tech like that.
@PBKreviews dont know how strong that is, but it can only be more scratch resistant. The "Glas" of the z2 force actually was indestructible. Wached a few vids and actually seems like a better version, but idk.
I dropped mine from not too high with a case and screen protector. It hurt my soul! No damage or scratches. Awesome phone.
This screen is great against scratches and reflections. Not so much against cracking. So samsung care is no brainer with expansive phone like this. Atlest for me it was.
Could you please confirm if the camera was functioning properly as well?
4:19 / Watching now "Sand scratch test" on this and it seems like you are going a lot easier than on S24 did...
Idk maybe I'm wrong and it's just a camera view problem but it looks kinda fake 😢
no, I didn't apply any extra strength. you can also compare it to the S23 scratch test video from last year but that one was a bit more rough with larger rocks n gravel. both use the same glass and both scratch with sand/gravel (s23 and S24) 🙂
And here I am eagerly waiting till my preordered S24 Ultra arrives and you already breaking it... Hahahaa! Thanks for the video... Meantime I'm watching all the reviews related to the phone and this ones special too! :D
👍
That first drop. I felt it in my stomach. So would you be selling at a discounted price?
👍 if I was selling it as is yeah, but waiting on a replacement screen so I can repair and make use of the phone :)
Doesn’t seem like a screen protector is necessary this year
But it might crack more easily without a screen protector.
@extrabigmehdi a screen protector helps scratches, not cracks. It's not like a protective case.
@@GD2XProbably, but I'm not 100% sure. In fact I nevet got any cracks, but still managed to kill few amoled screen that turned black.
Why don't you use hardness picks to test the sensitivity of glass to scratches?

Sods law when ya phone slips out ya hand yep it always lands glass down just like the toast lands butter side down 😂
Painful watching 👀 this.
Imo it would be interesting to see how well this screen does in a case, but without a screen protector. The curved edge on the sides still compromise the durability, but a case would probably mitigate that weakness.
Curved edge?
@@philipmrch8326 yeah, it has a very slight curved edge to the screen in spite of being mostly flat. If you run your fingernail across the screen you can feel where it dips down.
You'll notice it is curved on the sides, but truly flat along the top and bottom.
