Every year it's a new Gorilla Glass, providing the perception it's somehow better than last year's but when met with concrete, the results are usually the same. Glass is glass.
yup!
Concrete is the great equaliser as it knows that, no matter what, glass is glass. And glass breaks.
That's some "concrete" evidence right there lol
@@EchoVerse_Sonance get out
And glass breaks
Anyone buying this expensive of a phone and not getting a proper case is definitely living life on the edge. Me however, I would never.
lol yup
There s a friend of mine who always buy most expensive iphone ( like pro max with maxed out storage) but never put a screen protector or any cases. But surprisingly, i see scratches on front glass but never a cracks or never dropped her phone since iph x to iph 14pm till now
@@mst4001 she is a keeper😂
Literally ordered 3 cases for it before even ordering it, then ordered a 4th that arrived the same day as the phone so i could have some peace of mind until the first 3 arrive
Insurance is also an option...
There's definitely improvement in scratch resistance, as for the cracks ... let's stick to having a case 🤣
lol yeah
Have you given it a thought that the initial scratch test might have compromised the structural integrity of the glass, making it susceptible to shatter easily ?
Yes, if it was deep enough yeah, but they are just surface scratches. If anyone put their phone in their pocket and got scratches on the screen, that doesn't mean that any protection is out the window and after it being in a pocket then the glass is going to shatter if dropped. But if it had deep scratches or any cracks, 100% would be a different story.
It is glass so it will shatter or crack
I smell bullshit. The Ultra scratched at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7 - the same as previous generations. In this test, it would imply that the glass has sapphire in it, and it doesn't. One of two things are happening.. the person using the mohs picks, used the wrong ones, or they are lying.
These tests always makes me want to hold my heart.
lol ya
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
With a price tag of $1,199.99 I'd be holding my heart too!
Nothing new? All smartphones start scratching at level 6, while this starts on 8, it's a huge improvement
It might be a huge improvement against phones which scratch at a level 6 but not all smartphones scratch at a level 6. I've done durability videos before on phones 2 years back which didn't scratch till an 8. But mainly against the S22 ultra, it is an improvement since the S22 ultra had minor scuffs/barely visible scratches starting around a 6-7. I was hoping for the Victus 2 to hold up till a 9 but yep.
Indeed that's quite impressive. Maybe it's one of the reasons they don't include pre-aplied screen protector.
Might be that or also them trying to be using the least possible plastic not sure.
@@PBKreviews oh yeah that's what I thought. Pretty neat! Now I won't regret not getting a screen protector after 3 years of using the phone. 🤣 My Note 10 plus screen feels like sandpaper 😅 but no cracks!
Still have extra protection for drops tho just because it's harder it means it will shatter like tempered glass
I'm happy with the improvements in the scratch protection 👍🏼 . For the rest I always put some kind of case on. Even if it's a thin case will provide some protection from a low drop.
👍
Curious Jerry rig everything had light scratches at 6 and deeper 7 with same hardness kit?@@PBKreviews
I got a nasty scratch on mine despite never dropping it, never putting it face down. Just put it in my pocket and it came out with the scratch. Must have had a tiny bit of hard particle in there, no keys or anything obvious I could find. Even tough glass can scratch if you're unlucky so definitely recommend a screen protector.
it does not. low drop here :(
Better think again about just "any" case, dropped mine no more than 14 inches while in a thin small case because I didn't like the defender style case I had it in and now I am waiting for who knows how long for the repair shop to be able to get a new replacement screen 😢
Well, I didn't expect the bashing oof S23 Ultra showing up so soon 😂😂
Thanks for this.
No problem! :)
I hate using protective covers on my phone, because it's too bulky, and yet I'm always the first to buy an armored protective cover on my new phones, even thought i've never dropped one of my phones.
👍
JerryRigEverything: Scratch at Level 6 with deeper groove at Level 7.
It's funny cause Corning didn't mention anything about scratch resistance but a lot about improved drop protection on concrete. The results say otherwise.
lol yup
@@PBKreviews nah 8 was the level the cg victus CGG 7 used to scratch at as well. Only the s22u scratched at a 6 because I guess and from what I've seen when researching on this, the glass is softer because of the higher radius of curvature it needed to be processed at a higher temp and that affects the structure.
Pathetic how easily it shatters
Exactly my Corning gorilla glass 6 does better lmao🤣🤣🤣
Funny thing is how they nailed it back in 2011 with the S2 which survived face down drops onto concrete
Victus 2 broke my heart also, I feel that's it's toughest & bearable major drops
Watching this off my s23 ultra, my heart broke for that phone just by him scratching it let alone dropping it. This is madness ! 💔 😢
Yup I agree this is madness, they can at least gift it to someone who dreams of it!
? Is that bad he’s actually helping people to chose the right the phone and he’s not the only one and can gift it for use
great video good to have an idea how fragile it is
Thanks 👍
Regular S23 and S23+ might do better with flat screen and more chance the frame takes the hit instead of the glass
Yup 👍
Totally agree and I don't understand why they went back to the old note style it broke all the time
First time to see drop test S23 Ultra.Thank you
👍 you're welcome
I received my S23 Ultra,I haven't activated or left the house with it... I'm waiting for my case and screen protector to arrive lol.
Nice job! Waiting for the teardown 🤩👍
Thanks!
God imagine dropping over 1200 bucks on a phone but it's just as fragile as any phone.
yeah lol definitely need a case for this phone.
Glass going to glass, not sure why anyone would think any different because of the price tag.
Thanks for making some real durability test, including waterproof resistance and drop resistance. Btw you are pretty close to the 100k mark! 👍
Thank you, yes finally getting there lol.
I had the S22 Ultra and used invisible glass on it and had a solid case. I had dropped it probably 10+ times with no issues, then Dec 23, 22 it happened. I broke the front. Had insurance on it so it was repaired for $29, but since Samsung finally lowered the corners, screen protectors stick on this phone way better, now I have a fully protected device.
How do you manage to drop a phone more than 10 times?
How did you manage to not drop more than 10 times.
I dropped my old phone more than 20 times .

@@RagingBad I know
But it happens for me
@@RagingBad There are 2 types of people holders and droppers. I guess he's the latter one.
Thanks for to the point and genuine video without ifs and buts!
You're welcome :)
Samsung make people fool... Victus.. Victus +.. Victus 2.. All are same.
S21 Ultra is more durable than both S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra
actually breaking the screen from the first drop shocked me ,It will cost like 350$+ to replace the display. they told that they are using the latest gorilla glass version . But still can't resist a simple drop test
Yup!
Each time he drops it....I get shivers🥺🥺
the first is the worst
Anyone buying this expensive phone and not getting a device protection plan is crazy
Good test mate , thanks for posting , just one thing , the water test I would have probably checked to see how the speakers where working after being dunked , just a thought anyway.
👍 thanks I'll keep it in mind for the future
Looks like they have been releasing the same glass for the last 10 years with a new name.
Honestly gorilla glass ought to be sued by now. Every year, it's stronger! It's better! But the glass screen still breaks just as easily as always.... Literally no difference
Low quality build not durable at all. Samsung stay in your lane. You ain’t on Apple level
Really appreciate your work, good going and hope to see much more useful content, lots of love from india 👍🏻
Thanks!
everyone buying the s23 should watch this clip closely
Nope...he didn't it properly..just wait for Jerry rig everything for better result
@@farishakim6759 jerry is a moron, you love him cause of the cigarette lighter test which is absolutely useless
Nice bro. Please add bend test and you will be complete.
Thanks! The frame is very solid like last years so I knew I would not be able to bend it so didn't think I should do it for no reason but yeah maybe should have just included it.
So to this day the note 20 still has the strongest glass out of all Samsung phones
Samsung a10 too, because base on my experience mine fall from 2nd floor of our school building twice no scratch and crack Ù^Ú
watching this on my s23 ultra, holding it extra tight now
Duribility is just garbage.
This phone can't survive just this simple drop test.
What's garbage build quality.
Shame on this device 👍
Yeah its pretty fragile.
@@PBKreviews Yeah.
it's fragile.
I think the scratches made earlier weakened the shock resistance. That's why it shattered on the first try
If the scratches are really deep yeah but these surface scratches shouldn't affect it. Or else anyone with any scratches would automatically have to worry about drops cracking their screen. Even last year's 22 ultra I did cracked brand new out of the box and the S23 plus from this year. so if the flat S23 plus can't withstand the first drop, no way the curved will.
I swear to God they become more fragile every year. Weird how kyocera made a phone in 2013 that could be dropped 10000 times and remain unscathed without a screen protector doing hvac plumbing electrical contracting work by using saphirre. F?!k gorilla glass it's wanky hype and marketing. Second time I dropped mine from 2 ft with a screen protector and case and 2/3 of the screen wasn't working. I hate we've grown ucustomed to this crap and accepted it.
yup
WOW scratch resistant until 8, that's actually a big improvement from gorilla glass 6
👍
from that drop. its badly cracked , samsung are scams, i have dropped a huawei mate 20 pro from a window seal with no cracks
I want to see s23 teardown video~~
Should be up later today :)
@@PBKreviews can you compare the glass on victus+ with victus2 durrability
you can look at my S22 Ultra durability video I did last year, it had vitcus+ so you can compare.
Wait, JerryRigEverything also did the scratch test and he had normal results with scratches at level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7, who did it wrong?
Not Jerry
You can watch the S23 durability video I uploaded which I go more into detail about the process.
I hoped to skip the case. Apparently not. Thanks for the thorough test and demo.
You're welcome!
Lol why would you not put a case on it. That's like driving with no insurance 🤣
@@JTxTX If the case isn't necessary to protect from drops, you obviously don't get one. They add bulk and pocket friction. That was the entire point of this test. Unfortunately, the test demonstrates that cases are still required.
The drop test should be done with the screen with NO cracks. Cracks are on hard materials as a cancer. Once a little one starts, the rest is doomed. To have the correct results, the drop test should be done with the screen that comes out of the box, no level 6 or 7 scratches...
I'm a mechanical engineer, so it's literally my job to know this kind of things
You said cracks. Yes if it had cracks of course. But surface scratches like these not really. I am not saying I know any better than you if you're an expert in the field but I have done tests like this before with a phone that had scratches and one of the same that was new out of the box with similar results. If that was the case, anyone who put their phones in their pockets would have to worry that they just voided any protection on their screen since objects in their pockets would cause scratches and their goes the protection out the window. If the scratches were deep then yeah but these aren't deep. Plus the cracks didn't form from there the scratches were, but from the corners and sides of the screen when dropped. If the glass was weak at the mark of the scratch, it should have cracked from there first. But like I said, I don't have a degree dealing with glass, maybe you know something that I dont.
@PBKreviews So, in summary, you are partially right and partially wrong.
By doing drop tests with samsung phones, you get consistent results with the same type of materials (samsungs screens in this case), and you could expect consistent results on the different test. Consistent in this conversation means they will break at a similar height and in similar ways. Yet, to be able to say without doubt that the material of the screens is not "better" or "worst" we or you, or who ever is doing the test, should do it a lot of times, with a lot a phones. Like a 100 phones, for example. Then, you could use statistical methods to extrapolate the results. I'm not saying you should buy a 100 phones to break them, that's not your job to do, and I doesn't make sense.
Also, when doing a drop test and taking into account what samsung says in their marketing info, one should be critic with the information given by the manufacturer. When samsung says the material of the new screens is 30% tougher or 30% more scratch resistant, they mean under THEIR internal way of measuring those two factors. Way we don't know (because it's a manufacturer secret). Taking into account that we also don't know the crystalline structure of the screen, neither we know how many layers of each specific crystalline structure they use (another manufacturer secret), in my opinion is very hard to affirm just by doing 1 single drop test that the phone is tougher or more fragile than the phone from last year. Yet, one drop test is infinitely more useful than no test at all
Yes you are correct. These tests are not 100% fact. Only many times with different ways can you come to an average result. This is just mainly a rough test.
Awesome work sir really appreciate it very nicely done waiting for teardown
Thanks 👍
That victus glass is a scam, had an LG V30 for 4 years no screen protector. Dropped it probably a 100 times never broke, until the 3rd year of owning it. I believe that was gorilla Glass 5, LG made some very durable phones. I switch the Samsung s21 Ultra cracked and screen within a year of owning it. Victus is a joke!
yep, the flat glass phones tend to handle better than the curved.
So much for the 'upgraded' glass !!
Me still using galaxy Note 8
😩😩😩
Wtf 1st drop it cracked 🤣😅
Scam GG VICTUS
Great test, appreciated it. What happened to the battered phone after the test? Recycled for S24 Ultra maybe... ✌🏻😁
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I used it for the teardown video which will be uploaded soon.
Yup, I'm not a big fan of curved either.
No scratches at level 7, are they finally getting better?
yeah its improvement vs the S22 ultra. But I have a feeling the S23/23+ might handle scratches better just like last year how the S22/22+ did better vs the Ultra due to the flat vs curved glass which the process of making curved glass usually makes the glass a bit softer.
@@PBKreviews +++
@@PBKreviews but this year's s23u has a much lower curvature radius so it must be nearly as resilient if not the same as the flat s23 glass.
@@hotsauce6310 lol still curved so probably not
👍
I hope corning has an answer to this, victus 1 was way more crack resistant 😅
Overall, I think this was a great video that will be really helpful for anyone who is considering purchasing a new phone and wants to know how it will hold up to everyday wear and tear. Thanks for sharing your expertise!" Also, feel bad when I see you have less subscribers.
Thanks and I appreciate the support :)
This is why the colour of your phone doesn't matter. A case is always required, and most cases cover the colour of your phone, minus the crystal clear types. Thanks for putting this video together.
👍 you're welcome
Thank you for just giving us this, no banter about social issues or shilling. Great content as usual.
Thanks and you're welcome
Lol thats exactly what Zack's channel is 😆
i just ordered 4-5 uag monarh/spigen cases for start and dome glass protection...same things i had on my s22 ultra....
👍
The phone cracked fast on the waist. Thank you for your test 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Don't ever use this phone naked 💀💀
Wouldn't scratching the screen at level 8 and 9 make it more prone to breaking ? I think the glass would fair better in the drop test without the scratches 🙂
yes, there should be 2 separate devices for scratch and drop test. 8 for topaz, 9 for corundum level which is quite deep, he says slight improvement but s22u starting to scratch at 6, so what is significant improvement? also hardness measurement tools should be checked before scratch because it is possible to change their scale unintentionally
*without the curved screen
Yes correct, they need to be calibrated before use which they are. Also scratch wise yeah there was improvement but when they advertise it, they make it seem like its so much better so I was expecting vary faint if any scratches at an 8 but handles just the same as other phones from a year or two ago which also would last till an 8. However I will be testing the flat surface of the S23 to see if it does any better since last year the S22 did better compared to the 22 ultra.
@@PBKreviews The first reviews that are posted often make a big impression on people. While most people only show certain parts of the phone, you show different aspect, the inside of them and how durable it is and you usually do reviews faster than anyone else, I learned the difference of IP14PM design thanks to you. I understand that advertisements can sometimes be misleading, but its still promising, also there are some slight changes of S23U design, screen is less edgy but since you starched, integrity of the screen is affected and more prone to break. I'm looking forward your test with S23
Why they use glass for the backs instead of kevlar weave or something actually sturdy is beyond me. I guess the replacement and repair business relies on these to break for revenue.
Yep. If they make strong phones, then people wont buy offten.
what a shame :( the glass upgrade make it useless year after year. I feel like those type of glass are inferior to year 2013
yeah
Capitalism is a lie...
Samsung after watching this video be like:

😂😂😂
lol yup, if I don't then I get people asking why I didn't so might as well throw it in for good measure.

Love this channel man!
Thank you :)
your mohs picks have deteriorated, you know that you have to replace them every once in a while right?
They come with calibration tools and yes I am aware.
What changed in the last 2000 years to the glass? Glass is glass and it will break .... Dooooh
Plain glass yeah, but there are phones which don't break. Look at this Honor X9a drop test ruclips.net/video/_laRncTd5YE/видео.html
Isn't it supposed to scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7?
Used to be..haha
The S22 Ultra did on the durability video I did last year, but this one has improved. I'm waiting to see how the S23 handles it with flat glass since last year the S22 did better than S22 Ultra.
Placed a order for a phone case.
Yup, that's a good idea.
Which case is best for s23ultrq??
@@tulashagautam5027 explore Spigen, Ringke they offer good protection without adding much bulk. I ordered Ringke Onyx
You said scratches appear on the camera lenses at number 8 right, so if i use my shirt/jacket sleeve to clean it up with a bit of force will it still stay unscratched?
Every year it is claimed that the glass is more resistant. But you can see it's nothing but marketing.
The drop test is invalid after the scratch test and you don't have to scratch every lens, one is more than enough.
if the scratches were deep enough yeah but they are just surface scratches for the most part. If that was the case, anyone who has a phone in their pocket rubbing against things getting scratched would have to worry that the glass will break if ever dropped once its been in their pocket.
Me: freaks out from a microscratch on my screen
Also me: sees keys didn't scratch the phonenand proceed to rub my keys against it to see for myself
😭😭😭
Well if my keys didn't cause the microscratches I have I'm wondering what cause it 😭
As someone who has a case and is clumsy. The S-pen usually pops out when dropped 😭
From bottom since it's a button mechanic and slightly sticks out it makes since
From other angles yeah idk I'm guessing the impact trigger the spring it or something
Great video, i'm starting to appreciate videos where I don't have to hear snarky comment's that don't have to do anything with the durability test.
Thanks! :)
thanks for that important test .
that test makes sense for all of us .

Great video ‼️I have a question ❓️,I drop my s 23 ultra without case on a corner frame near to s-pen‼️🤦♂️.He resist, nothing broke‼️Can the components inside been affected by drop❓️,1m drop⁉️
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 512gb 5g dual aim. Phantom black. I immediately put it in an Otterbox Defender Proand a lenses protector. I'm still in the process of getting everything squared away with my old Gmail
3:45 A person can buy a phone to smash, but cannot buy a normal video camera instead of phones
I just had a nightmare where I went pick my S23 ultra and both the screen and the back were practically destroyed, but the phone still worked somehow. Here I am after waking up for some reason lmao
lol
Would've liked to have seen various drops on undamaged phone even tho it'd cost 10 grand and the results would likely be the same.
Here's hoping none of us drop these expensive glass bricks 🤞
👍
At just west hight it gets damage 🤦🤦
yeah, unfortunately.
I dk why samsung continues to make curved screens that makes them weaker on impact when dropping it because the glass is curved
I have it with screen protector, and case, and it still break it. I hated this phone. I have a samsung from the A series, much cheaper and much better. I dont know if it worth reparing the glass since it costs almost a new phone from other line
My heart hurt when you heard the front and back hitting the floor 😭
yeah, first drops always the hardest :)
Im suprised the screen smashed that much from 1 drop at waist height 😒
yeah, however it is heavier as well compared to last years.
How come my old device (A22 5G) is stronger than S23 Ultra...
At least my old device won't break just by falling to the ground
Don't buy people, I bought it 3 days ago, I tried to take the phone out of my pocket, but it fell from 1 meter, so from my pocket on the floor, not even 1 meter, the cell phone became a total shame, the glass of the screen was totally broken don't buy Samsung
Now I see why the phone looks tortured on the next video of the S23 ultra disassembly.
Thanks for postung this video..🙂👍
👍 you're welcome
Sell it to me now
I've gotten to the point where I still use a case but Don't find it as necessary to have a screen protector anymore
Having metal frames feels good in the hand and make for good marketing but in reality the impact are not absorbed and distributed. The materials are too brittle and will shatter or crack. Victus is nonsense.
Good test, useless phone?
Thanks. I wouldn't say useless. Still a good phone, just not the best phone :)
The phone glass as been tempered with, when you did the scratch test, it weakened the glass hence cracked on first drops
The scratches are minor surface scratches. If that were the case, anyone who has a phone with a scratch on the screen would have shattered glass since any drop would cause it to break. Plus from the drops the glass didn't start to crack from the scratch spots. If they were gashes or cracks in the glass then yes but not with minor scratches.
Putting the phone in just a plastic container doesn't put in test the water durability... is better if u do it on the specifications, 5m of water, make the pressure do the water durability
Quite unimpressive actually, especially after all the marketing from Corning saying how the glass is designed to withstand drops onto concrete.
I dove with s22u in Cabo Verde with turtles in ocean , it's steel alive. But I disappointed with this f*ck processor 2200 exinos
Guys ok iphone or Samsung because I trying to save up for a phone or a phone or laptop pls reply to me pls😊
My S23 fell down by accident and now I cant use half of my screen and its glowing yellow and did even fall that high or fast.I had a case on too.
on the back glass there is some scuffing with the level 5 pick, and in the next shot its gone, which means his level 5 pick got scratched by the glass 💀
Kunlun glass like this video.
lol yup
Get rid of the glass back trend and let's get back to all aluminum body. No more case needed
Literally just dropped my brand new one on vinyl flooring on the edge and its scratched and dented the edge. Very fragile people be careful.
