    Sonnet 104 by William Shakespeare
To me, fair friend, you never can be old,
For as you were when first your eye I ey'd,
Such seems your beauty still. Three winters cold,
Have from the forests shook three summers' pride,
Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turned,
In process of the seasons have I seen,
Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burned,
Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green.
Ah! yet doth beauty like a dial-hand,
    Steal from his figure, and no pace perceived;
So your sweet hue, which methinks still doth stand,
Hath motion, and mine eye may be deceived:
For fear of which, hear this thou age unbred:
Ere you were born was beauty's summer dead.

    104. szonett (fordította Győry Vilmos és Szász Károly)
Nekem sohsem vénülsz meg, szép barátom!
    A mint először pillanték terád,
Ugy tűnsz ma is föl; bár harmadszor látom,
Hogy hull a fákról nyári lomb s virág.
Három vidám tavasz vált sárga őszre,
    Három fris ápril illatos lehét
    Három hő junius perzselte össze:
Te viruló és fris vagy mint előbb.
    S mégis - mint mutató az óra-táblán -
    Suhan a szépség észrevétlenül,
Szemem csalódik s a nélkül hogy látnám
    Bájló szined halványul, elrepül…
    Halljátok hát, jövendő nemzedékek:
    Meghalt a báj, mielőtt születétek!

I love the enthusiasm for these words which ooze out of every pore of our treasured Sir Patrick as he reads to us here. Interesting that he swapped "beauty's summer" for "summer's beauty" ...
