    Sonnet 29 by William Shakespeare
    When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes,
    I all alone beweep my outcast state,
    And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
    And look upon myself and curse my fate,
    Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
    Featured like him, like him with friends possessed,
    Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope,
    With what I most enjoy contented least;
    Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
    Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
    (Like to the lark at break of day arising
    From sullen earth) sings hymns at heaven’s gate;
    For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings
    That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
    Sonnet 30 by William Shakespeare
    When to the sessions of sweet silent thought
    I summon up remembrance of things past,
    I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
    And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
    Then can I drown an eye, unus'd to flow,
    For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
    And weep afresh love's long since cancell'd woe,
    And moan th' expense of many a vanish'd sight;
    Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
    And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
    The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
    Which I new pay as if not paid before.
    But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
    All losses are restor'd, and sorrows end.

    29. szonett (Fordította: Győri Vilmos és Szász Károly)
    Ha meghasonlva végzet- s emberekkel,
    Elhagyva sírok árva sorsomon:
    A siket égre sóhajt kergetek fel,
    S magamra nézek s létem’ átkozom;
    Sorsát irigylem, a ki tud remélni,
    Vagy szebb alakja, több barátja van,
    Ezt: hogy művész, azt: mivel több erényi,
    Gyülölve mind azt, mit birok magam;
    De mig ekként magam megvetve nézem:
    Rád téved elmém, s lelkem általad
    (Pacsirtaként, mely égbe száll merészen
    E ronda földről) mennyekben mulat.
    Mert szerelmedre csak gondolni: oly kincs,
    Mit elcserélni kedvem trónokkal nincs!
    30. szonett (Fordította: Győri Vilmos és Szász Károly)
    Ha néma s édes gondjaim elébe
    A mult idők emlékét fölidézem:
    Sohajra költ sok bírtnak eltünt képe,
    Sok régi búm újjal tetézve lészen;
    A könyfeledt szem új könyben feredhet’
    Sir-éj ölébe hullt barátimért:
    Szerelmemet, a régen elfeledtet
    Sirathatom, s mindent, mit veszni tért;
    Keserghetek megint elmúlt keserven,
    Átélve szórul szóra, kínra kínt;
    És mintha volna még lefizetetlen,
    Az elnyögött baj felnyöghet megint:
    De im, a közbe’, rád gondolva lelkem,
    Búm megszünik, vesztésim’ visszanyertem.

    Well Sir Patrick this one has a little more bite...rolls fancy off the tongue....
    Thou a spell has cast on me, thou broke thy heart and soul.
    Thus I cry, to think of thee, not having thine to hold.
    Where Art Thou, for thee I search, to find thou art not there.
    Poignant is thy heavy heart, thou left me with despair.
    Hence to keep, for strength I pray, from thou must I disever.
    Be rid the Welter from thy self. Alas, be gone forever.
    Stick that in your pipe and smoke it
