coconut Poke Cake
1 yellow Cake mix
mix as directed
1 can sweetened condensed milk
16 oz. cool whip or whip topping
2 cups sweetened coconut
Italian Hamburger and Sausage Pie
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 bell pepper
1onion
1 to 2 T. minced garlic
2 T. tomato sauce or paste
juice from strained meat
salt
pepper
oregano
basil
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
3 eggs
1/2 cup a p flour
1/2 t. Salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
provolone cheese about 7 slices
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
350 40 minutes

Wow the first time I ate this cake I was in 4th grade (I’m 61 yo now) while I was staying with my grandparents, my grandpa made this cake it was called the $5.00 cake❤!!!! my grandparents were the custodians at the elementary school where I went for a time. He got the recipe from one of the teachers there and he made it from then on. Every holiday we thought we had to have this cake. The only difference is the recipe he had called for frozen unsweetened coconut that was shredded Very fine. The cake is so sweet that you could not tell the coconut wasn’t sweetened. You thawed the coconut out then you crumbled it all over the top of the cool whip. It was always best made the day before we ate it. I have made this cake for over 30 years for at least one of the holiday meals. My family would think something was very wrong if it wasn’t on the dessert table. What precious memories you brought back for me tonight my grandpa passed away several years ago. But he and my grandmother would come home after working all day at the school and help each other make supper at night. My grandpa was almost as good of a cook is what my grandmother was. Thank you for the precious memories. 😍

Everything looks delicious! I have a tip on the acidity from tomatoes….if you have a tomato based sauce, warm it on the stove and add 1/2 tsp of baking soda. It will bubble up and neutralize the acidity. My husband struggles with reflux and this has helped tremendously.
A friend of mine suffered the same, and this is also what she does….👍
A spoon of brown sugar helps too!😊

Miss Lori, Duncan Hines has a Dolly Parton Coconut cake mix. It’s DELICIOUS! I’m going to make this cake using that cake mix. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE coconut. That Italian hamburger sausage pie looks so good! My family would gobble this up! Your homestead is absolutely beautiful. I had a beautiful yellow big glass bowl inside was white & some how it got broke .
It was my grandmothers & I miss it dearly along with her.
Im gonna go to some reselling stores to hopefully find some nice glass or ceramic bowls .
They are so expensive now in stores .

If u add 8 oz of sour cream to 16 oz cool whip or whipping cream n vanilla it makes the best coconut cake ever. Try it plz. It’s my family’s favorite cake.

I collected all my life lost it all in fire in 2000 , then collected just for my home antiques and glassware , pictures etc. have my glassware to my sister lately, and some furniture. I still have enough to fill my home. Just wanted to give her what she wanted before I'm gone. ❤

It's definitely what I like to do! Same interests, but culture and tastes are different. It is interesting to watch these videos and learn about the culture. The video "The Best Sweet Dough Recipe" brought me here. I do love cooking and baking from scratch; preserving older (great) recipes and trying recipes from other cultures. I'm learning to garden and am working on flowers; then fruit and veg after I retire as my commute is so long. I have a lot of edibles naturally growing here, and have made a black raspberry ribbon almond cream pie with the native black raspberries. I love going antiquing too! I have no cast iron pans, but I do collect the Fire King Peach Lusterware 🙃

Hey Miss Lori! That cake sure is easy, and the beef and sausage pie, I have never seen, but it also looks so good. It is hilarious, Even before you said who it was you were listening to, I recognized Robbies voice. I'm also in California, very close to where her and Gary are, and I just love watching and learning from them.
My Mom had a set of the red & white tableware service for 18/22 & all the extras. I think, when we packed it up we had about 10 or 12 boxes. I Enjoyed your video so much. Can't wait to try the Italian pie
Oh Yes! I will be making that sausage pie. Looks so good my mouth was watering. Your gardens all look so lovely. I haven’t been to a flea market in a long time but I used to love to walk through antique shops and flea markets years ago. I don’t have space for buying anything more today but it is fun to look. My family is not big on cakes but I really think they would love this one. It must be very moist. If I had been working in the yard all day I don’t think I would have energy enough to make this recipe. Mr. Brown is a very lucky man who I know really appreciates your cooking.

Oh boy! That is one keeper of a video! The cake and the pie look so good! I wish we had decent flea markets where we live. People mostly have yard sales and I can't get away on Thursday and Friday mornings.
My Momma loves EVERYTHING coconut!!! I just found these coconut cookies at Winn-Dixie bakery that she says are her new addiction! 😆 We both love coconut macaroons. The real macaroons. Not the new fangled cookies. Just a clump of coconut mixture baked with a browned topping. Anyway, I cannot wait to try this cake and give to my Mom. Thank you so much!❤❤❤

The funny looking cake keeper was actually a platter that came with a set of waterless cookware that my mother bought in the late 60s. It was supposed to be for serving meat and vegetables but my mother always used hers as a cake keeper. I use the same one as a cake keeper now.
