      Since this is shaping up to be a beginner's course, I think a great video would an overview of all the other resources out there. I speak from experience that when there's a HUGE wealth of information, it can be very daunting figuring out what's good, relevant, and recent, doubly so with emerging/evolving technologies like 3D printing.

      Would love to hear your opinion of auto bed levelers like the bltouch!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 года назад +6

      Sure. I’ve had them, used them, went back to manual on almost all of my machines. My current favorite is enabling “manual mesh leveling” in the marlin firmware and doing it manually. That machine hasn’t been leveled in months and it’s flawless. My Ender hasn’t had any issues with leveling for as long as I can remember. Sure if the printer came with it, it’s ok but in my personal opinion, I’d like manually leveling and use the extra funds to buy more filament. ;)

    Hi Fedor! Thanks for these tutorials they’ve really helped me a lot! I was able to print a couple perfect benchys along with some other models, but seemingly out of nowhere, I started to get some gaps in my layers. I followed some online tutorials, cleared a clog in my hot end, replaced my nozzle, but no matter how hard I try, it seems to keep underextruding! Even the preloaded files aren’t working anymore, really in need of a 3dprintsos!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 года назад +3

      Sounds like a typical experience of 3D printing. Haha. Have no fear. You’ll get it up and running soon. Have patience. Can you upload a photo or a few of what’s going on so I can try to help? It may be a gap between your ptfe tube and your nozzle. Before switching nozzles, did you try to clear away the clog with the provided needle?

    • @nickh.7600

      @@3DPrintSOS Thanks for the quick reply! Actually, I’ve just figured out the issue! Or I think I have. Shortly after switching out my ptfe tube, replacing nozzle, and endlessly poking at the hot end, I noticed that the extruder idler was skipping! The tension arm is cracked, so I’ll have to order a new one, preferably an aluminum one I heard is a good upgrade. I’ll keep you and everyone posted on the progress in case anyone else is having a similar issue!

    • @3DPrintSOS

      Hey look on the bright side, you now know way more about your printer! ;). Glad you found the issue. I’d say you can print out my extruder design that comes with an arm, but unless you have another printer, you’ll surely have to buy one. Yes the metal ones are nice and durable. Look for something that lets you adjust tension. ;)

    My biggest problem with my machine is profiles for her. Thank you so much for this beginning. I usually find a compatable machine and use a profile from that to start from but none of the slicers have factory profiles for E3V2 or Aquilla. My machine came with a 235 X 235 bed not a 220 x 220. I used an ender 3 pro in cura for my starter set of profiles. I can't wait to see how yours does. I use Simplify 3d for problem solving as I know my way around the software. I calibrated the machine "FLASH" I call her with Micheal's tools at the git hub site to get everything as right as I could before I went for the first benchy. It looks pretty good for a benchy my hot end was a little warm so I got some stringing but a heat tower fixed that and she prints awesome. Thanks for your videos. When showing configurations and profile set ups such as this, please don't use a dark theme. It makes it difficult to see what is on your screen.. Also, please give version of software your are configuring. I'm trying to set up Cura v5.4.0 and some of the screens and menus are different than what you show... Thanks. You are a great teacher. Reminds me of my days as a USAF Technical Insrtuctor. Keep the videos comming!

    Awesome vid but I recommend when starting with the aquila especially id new to it use a endr 3 profile on cura. I recommend using "Ender 3 Pro" profile. Alll of it is setup. I recommend highly this route vs making your own profile. All in all good video if you go with the way the vid goes though still a good choice.

    Your voxelab x2 profile doesn't import anymore into the latest cura (5.4) because some of the settings in your profile no longer exist in this version of cura. Can you please provide an updated version of your profile? Thanks! Better yet - just add the profile settings to the description of your video - then anyone can make a profile using your settings (and figure out what to do with the ones that are different).

    I am curious. the print bed size is listed as 235x235, but you put it in at 220x220. Is there a reason for that? Trying to understand how the slicer works and what the issues are. Is this like a margin like you would have with a typewriter?

    Hi, first off thanks for the video, but it continues to say the PLA Profile is corrupted whenever I try to import it to Cura, I've deleted and reinstalled like 4 times, any idea of what I should do?
    Edit: fixed it, was not putting it in a folder, thank you also member to put your settings on advanced whenever your looking over your settings.

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 года назад

      You could use a the Aries with Cura, but it needs specific settings for the custom profile. It’s way better to stick with voxelmaker for the Aries. Nearly perfect prints and the only way to use it wirelessly

    Little late to the party here... but i was wondering: How do you know which numbers to fill in at the print head settings?
    The build volume, heated bed etc are all known specifications. but I wouldn't know where to begin to find the print head settings. So I am curious how you figured it out...
    A little background: I am considering buying either an Aquila or an Aquila X2 at some point, and am trying to learn the ropes a bit beforehand; hoping that will save me some frustration and wasted filament in the long run. So your channel is really, really helpful!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 года назад

      I pulled the settings from their profile that was within their ancient Cura profile. So I just adapted them into the new version.

    Thanks for the video, I am a completely new to this, me and my 5 year old are super excited to start tinkering away. I had a question as far as the post printing order of operations. Cleaning the bed makes sense to me, but what about the extruder and nozzle, do i need to unload remaining filament and give it a quick clean or is it OK to keep it loaded? Also video idea if you have not done this already(I have watched quite a few of your videos just haven't searched all of them). Maybe something for the newbies just a walk through of a an entire print process everything before during and after to look out for cleaning, prepping, and general maintenance in order to prolong parts life just a general run down and what to look out for, obviously that's probably a long video but its hard to find some of the more "common sense" stuff that certain 3d pros take for granted.

    Hi! Thanks for the video! I just got this printer, and the learning curve is real! LOL. So far, everything we have tried to print is a fail, except for the prints that came on the SD card. I just added the printer to Cura with the printer profile. Question I have- does the nozzle temp normally go over to the printer with the sliced code on the SD card? The bed temp was correct, but the nozzle temp was set to 0, so I manually changed it to 200. Thanks for any advice!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  Год назад +1

      Just a bit of a curve yea. It gets easier though, promise. The good news is that if the SD card print work, it just means you are a few settings away from making it work and you leveled the machine correctly.
      These printers typically wait to heat the nozzle until the bed is heated all the way to the set temp. So if it’s set to 60c in the slicer, the hotend wil stay at 0 until the bed reaches that temp and then it will heat.

    Maybe I am wrong but in the cura profile included in the link above it looks like the nozzle temperature is at 230c. Is it supposed to be this high?

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 года назад

      No it should be. 200-205 should be the temp.

    • @3DPrintSOS

      That means to go lower, you have to lower the z axis limit switch itself. It tries to prevent you going negative so it doesn't break the stopper or the glass. Just a safety thing.

    Thanks, I followed your tutorial and installed Cura, and the the PLA profile. When I initially installed the PLA profile I saw a pop-up in Cura 5.7.2, that the profile would not be visible, if the profile didn't match the nozzle size. Even though my brand new Aquila S3 has a .4mm nozzle installed on it, the profile did show when I changed the size, in Cura, but without actually changing the nozzle to .6mm. I do not want to change the nozzle, since my aquila is brand new, but was wondering what I would have to modify, in the profile, to use a .4mm nozzle? Or should I just use the Standard generic PLA settings, that come with Cura? I'm dying to do my first print, help.
