- I bought my very own house! It should be a moment of pure happiness, especially since it's by a lake, and the property has several buildings, including a barn.
However, buying this house has also given me a lot of anxiety and a bad conscience. You see, there's a family living there right now, who can't afford to stay.

I haven't read any comments yet but this is what I think. If you want the house, buy it. You are not pushing them out and they know that. The reason for them having to sell has nothing to do with you. And, if I was in that situation of having to sell my house for that reason, I'd love for it to go to someone like you! There are plenty of people out there that will buy a house and never make it a home. The house will be happy with you.

I love how sensitive and caring you are. Instead of sadness and quilt, send the poor family who lost the house as much love as you can. Light is love and love is everything. We are all one. Help them by sending them loving thoughts in the form of golden light.

You already answered your question. Buy it... If... it's the house you can comfortably call home and it's perfect for you and your lifestyle. You're not the cause of their debt, you are helping them get out of debt and they can move forward to a new start. Now that you bought it, start putting into it the positive energy it needs and that you need. The home now needs love, good energy and your good soul. Enjoy the new moments.

If you don't buy it, someone else will, so it might as well be you. SMILE, be proud of your own home, well done!!!!!!! Don't move in full of guilt and negativity, you did not create this situation, they did. You have actually helped them. Let it go, be happy, look forward not backwards!!!!
The bottom line is, the family in that home will lose the home regardless if you buy it or someone else buys it. You did not put the family in this position, it was done by themselves, and is not your fault. If you love the house, buy it. If it helps them get out of debt, then you have done a good thing, not a bad thing.
Try not to make this your problem, but rather you are the solution. The family may be able to afford a smaller place to live, as well as pay off the debt. So really, you are helping, not hurting them by purchasing the house.

Daniel, you are not forcing them out of their home. They are responsible for their situation. I know you feel bad for them but you can't fix their situation. Let your desires be your guide and just wish that family the best. We are all exactly where we are supposed to be. The best thing you can do to help them was to pay for their home and help them resolve their debts.
You might actually be freeing the family. They are stuck in an impossible situation. You may be allowing them to have a new start with out the burden they have been struggling under. I think you are making the right choice.

To be honest, I’m not sure that living in such a wilderness would be good for those children, they need to play and communicate with their peers. Such remote farms are only good for hermits, those who have already formed and have a rich inner world. Start enjoying the world around you, control your thoughts, turn off the negativity. I totally understand your feelings. Being 63 and gaving experienced various challenges myself I know for sure, that every change brings huge possibilities for groth. Just imagine the family looking back in 10 years and thinking: "Wow that was an important turning point in our lifes. We are grateful." It is possible!

Obviously, BUY IT. Help them out by paying a fair price, and possibly allow them to stay a month or two while they relocate. If you wish, you could also help them with relocation expenses, buy (overpay for) any excess furniture, maybe provide some savings bonds or gift cards for the kids, look for other, creative ways to ease their transition.
Dear Daniel, I am a 66 yr old woman, who in my late 20's was in the position of losing my home. This was happening due to my marriage breakup. The bank treatened to take back our home and leave myself and my 2 small children homeless. I met with the financial manager and explainef to him that I would sell the house and pay back the full mortgage. They agreed to wait. I was able to pay them back and buy a cheaper home in a differant county.
I know I was blessed by having a caring and understanding bank manager.
I now live in a beautiful bungalow with an acre garden, surrounded by trees.
No one can answer this question for you. It has to sit well with your conscience.

Yeah, not being mean here, we all have life issues, but understand that it's not the bank's fault that you chose divorce and its consequences, even though that may have been your RIGHT choice. But the bank uses the rest of our deposits to lend to you. If you don't repay, that gets revisited on all of us. So the bank isn't the bad guy, and this isn't a moral issue. Your choice leads to forfeiting a home and you(and your kids) having to move. Just need to accept that fact and be prepared to deal with it. It should not be made someone else's burden to deal with.

I hope you see this and really hear what I say. You are not doing anything to them, they did to them. You never know what positive will come out of this. I was laid off from a job 6 years ago and i was devastated, I thought I would never be happy again and how dare they screw up my life. That layoff what the best thing that has ever happened in my life. It pushed me to be better and see what else is out there. Now, I have the best job I have ever had while also being the most financially secure in my life, and I owe it to being laid off.

I understand how that would make you feel as your are a very empathic soul..If the house will have to sell anyway, I'm sure they would rather it went to someone like yourself who cares about their predicament and will take good care of it rather than in a potentially worse situation.. but you need to feel comfortable with your decision and don't want to live in it feeling guilty.. ask the Universe for guidance for an outcome which benefits all concerned.. If you choose to purchase, do it with confidence and excitement.

I think it’s better for you to be the one to buy it because you are kind and will treat the house with love as they once did. They are going to have to move anyway so it’s better that it’s someone like you who will cherish the house instead of someone who might tear it down just to use the land.

I don't feel like you are the bad guy if you decide to buy the house. In a way smaller case, I had to sell something at quite a low price because I needed the money and I never ever felt any ounce of guilt toward the person.
I'm editing this comment because, like someone said, at least, the family know that the house will be loved and taken care of. You won't destroy it, destroy the garden and all. Since the circumstances of the sale are heavy on your mind, consider writing a letter to the family promising to keep the home and property thriving and filled with all the love and gratitude they would have wished for themselves had they not lost possession of it in this way. Then . . . on your first night in the home, put the letter into a fire and say a prayer for the well being and prosperity of the family. Hopefully this will help clear your conscience as you lay your head on your pillow to sleep for the first time in your new home. Dear Daniel, as some others said before, it is not your fault that the family is in this situation. It is certainly not a good time for them, but on the other hand it gives them the chance to start anew, hopefully without debts.
What I think is important for you when you move in, is to clean the place energetically (for example with white sage) and/or have a ritual that affirms the ongoing change for the house and the former and future inhabitants. In this way, you can have a new, fresh start without thinking back too much.

What helps me in situations like this is to remember that you don't know the outcome of any situation. Maybe you buying this house has saved the family from their debt completely. I understand your concerns but please allow yourself the joy of beginning a new chapter in your life. It's sad that the previous owners are in a bad situation but you are potentially helping them get out of debt so they can get a new start from a better position. Removing the gray cloud of debt over their heads could be a blessing. This will be such an exciting time for you and also a lot of work. But this will be work that will be for your benefit and you will be so happy to have your own property. Daniel Erik, when I have gone through difficult times, looking back I often see the reason behind it, the lessons learned by all involved. It’s often a blessing in disguise, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time. The same can be true for this family. They may be having difficulty now, but a dream job, home, could be next for them.

I'd like to recommend you doing a little ritual before or when you move into these buildings. Maybe you could think of some small ceremony to express your gratitude for your new property and your well wishes for the family that lived there before. Then do some smudging with white sage in all of the buildings and around the property to clean it of any bad thoughts or memories lingering there from the former owners, so you can give yourself and your property a fresh start without any baggage from the past. ❤

We got to experience no sunrise sunset while we were in Alaska. It was so strange for someone used to seeing the sunrise almost every day. I definitely don't think you should feel bad about buying the home. You are not forcing them out. Nothing you can do will stop that happening. Finding the perfect house/home is impossible. I have doubts about the apartment we are still waiting to be finished. There will definitely be negatives but I'm hoping the positives will outweigh the bad. You should be happy about your house. The thing I keep reminding myself is that it doesn't have to be forever. If we are unhappy there we don't have to stay. I hope by now that you have moved past the guilt over the house. We are renting at the moment but to me a home is where your family and things are - not so much the walls that are around you. So this is home, even though it is temporary.

I understand why you feel so mixed up . The poor family concerned will find life will become settled again. Their sense of relief to see the debt gone and to start a new life must fill them with hope. They’ve probably lived with such worry to this point but you buying the house will really help them Daniel.
The other thing is that you will make it your home and cherish it. That will mean a lot to the family…. it’s far better knowing that it’ll be your cherished home than for a buyer to just use it to make money from it eg hiring it out for a holiday home or developing it to sell for higher price.
You could even invite the family to visit if they’re in the area. Knowing that they could do that might ease their transition into a new life. The chances are that they will soon be immersed in a new life without the worry and stress of debt and they won’t think about the house again.

It's never a "good thing" to lose your home like this, but considering the financial situation that they are in, it will help them clear part of their debt which is a priority I think. There's no perfect scenario in this situation I feel. But you have to follow your heart and do what's right for you.
You are right, their situation wont change if you backed out. Please dont make things worse by projecting what you assume they are feeling or thinking. Perhaps you are a blessing for them, because you gave a good price and now they can move on. Sometimes our minds make up scenarios that dont exist. Never assume.

Full of ending and beginnings. The family is going through an ending. Their beginning will be wherever they end up going. Sometimes the ending and beginnings is not by choice which is the situation for them. You are fortunate that you can choose your ending and beginning. When you think of them, immediately tell yourself you can't control what happens to them and you can be happy about your change and future. If you can get the thoughts about them out of your head, yell to yourself out loud and repeat it until you drown out the negative thoughts!
If you don't buy it, someone else will. If it becomes your home it will be loved, as it is your dream come true. It will be a wonderfull thing. It is sad that the family in it now are in a bad situation, and we can all wish the best for them. If that house is calllling your name, that is a magical thing and very special.
I admire your compassion for the homeowners. Hopefully the sale of the house (to you) will allow them to start a-fresh, debt free, look at it that way. At least you want to love it like they have and it not be bought for a much cheaper price by someone who might never live there.

Again your compassion is so deep, and I think just knowing how much you care about this even though it’s not your “problem”, makes this an easier decision. I think you can go for it. Maybe you can write a letter to the previous owners and maybe bake a treat and let them know who you are and how much you will give love to their house and space. It leaves you in a good energy space with the previous people. I think you should go for it! You are a good person for struggling with this situation. As you said if you don’t purchase their home then they will end up selling it for less money so you would be doing them a favor to purchase it. But please keep in mind that we all leave Energy in the dwellings that we possess so that dwelling will have a lot of energy of lack and indebtedness…But as long as you make intentional effort to keep your vibration one of gratitude & abundance then there will be no harm done.

You are such a dear soul to have such empathy for others but like I said above they are probably relieved to not have the crushing debt of it anyway. All of that beauty turned very ugly to them. I would bet they were losing sleep worrying how they were going to meet next months bills, they probably had debtors calling them, hounding them.
Maybe you could write them? Would it help you get over the undeserved guilt?
