Will I Die Young? | Thoughts About Growing Old

  • Today I want to talk about something that’s been on my mind lately; Sometimes I feel like I will die young. And I don’t really know why.
And in some weird way, I don’t feel necessarily stressed about this feeling. Because, in an equally weird way, I can also see it as a gift. Thinking I might die young, make me seize every moment, creating an urge for me to make every day meaningful.
And now I’m here in the virgin forests below the mountains, wandering around thinking about this once again.

    Hello Daniel,
I think we all have thoughts about death and that...
I am 44 and I am sure that I have already passed the midpoint of my entire existence. But let me tell you a little story. I work as a Nursing Assistant but in the person's own home, I visit 5 or 7 people a day. I once met a woman who was 103 years old, widowed since she was 24, with a 5-year-old son at the time. And she lived almost obsessed with the idea that she would die at the age of 44, without knowing why. She never remarried because she kept thinking about her husband and that they would soon be reunited. Finally she died at 105 years old and in the last few months, she believed that God had forgotten about her. She didn't understand why she didn't die. We all have an end but we never know when it comes. Don't think too much about it. Enjoy the piece of paradise you have around you.
WoW dude! Believe me, that thunder shook me to tears 🥹
I hope your camera is fixed soon and congratulations on your joint exhibition. Beautiful pictures!
And... hey! Do you realize how handsome you are with that hair, beard and even those gray hairs that you say you have!? Enjoy life, dear.

Eric, it’s a special gift to appreciate and be one with nature. I always thought when I was young that I wouldn’t live past 50, it’s amazing that I’m 72 now and my mind is still as it was when I was younger just thankful I’m alive today. I was born and raised in a big city but knew at an early age it wasn’t for me, I’d somehow find a creek to catch frogs or a field to pick flowers for my mother. My husband was the same way and unfortunately he passed away 3 years ago and I am again appreciative for being in a place where nature still exists. Be well and know when you do get old your mind doesn’t really change all that much, your special

Don t worry Daniel, I am a young grandma but getting older comes slowly in your body and on your face, not in with brutality except if you have not a good health. In fact you get used to it and realise that you have not time to lost anymore and often feel happier than when you were young. Keep on having good time in breathtaking Sweden ❤

Daniel, it is not the number of years that we live, but the way that we live them and you are the perfect example of one who lives each day to the fullest. When I was 30, I thought that 60 was a long way off, and that when one reached that age, they were "old". Now, in my sixth decade of life, I do not consider myself "old", and in my heart I am still 30. Life is what we make of it, every moment is an opportunity to appreciate the gift of being alive in such an amazing world. Thanks for sharing! Sending love from the foot of the Rocky Mts in Colorado.

It’s so great to reflect on our mortality. You are a very deep sensitive person and like many creative people - poets etc it is something that is natural for them to reflect on. As you indicated it is not negative but rather makes us appreciate fully all the beauty and each precious moment. I love how you are in awe of and deeply appreciate the thunder, rain and the beauty of the lake and nature. Your photographic prints are stunning, I wish all the blessings of your dreams to manifest and be realised.❤️

I'm not scared of dying or of getting old but in my 50s I do fear I'm running out of time to do all the things I want (mainly travel related) before my body totally lets me down. You seem to do a great job of enjoying each day and living in the moment and I think that's probably the key to living a good life. I love your "lawn".

You're going to get a lot of advice here but here's my two cents worth. What you're going through is perfectly normal. Everyone questions their existence at about your age. Death will come to you eventually as it does to everyone. Life is finite, that's the beauty of it. Instead of wondering about it, LIVE IT!! And appreciate it. Never take it for granted. Thank your ancestors every day and live a life you'll be proud to look back on. Peace be with you my young friend.

Daniel, a few thoughts on this video. One, I totally share your feeling on dying. I’ve had this feeling since as long as I can remember. I don’t know why either. I constantly feel like I can’t imagine getting older, though I know every day I am. It’s sort of feeling like you’re waiting for your life to begin, as if aging somehow just happens out of the blue. I probably couldn’t have imagined being 28 when I was 10, but here I am. I think it’s natural. I am happy to hear you don’t have too much anxiety around it, but a little seems natural to me. I deal with chronic illness so I think a lot in existential ways, and sometimes need to stop myself from getting too much in those thoughts. I am okay and will be okay, but this is a natural way of thinking, whether you’re suffering or not. Secondly, I LOVE your dream of buying land and making it a national park. Your channel and Jonna’s are my favorite place to come in the morning as I eat my breakfast and see the beautiful places you call home. It has become a dream of mine to somehow do this for myself. I have so many questions about how you created a successful channel and how possible it is to push content like yours that is slow, meaningful, and beautiful in a society that seems to only push fast content. I share my music and my words, nature, and art, and I feel as a very small channel just not supported. Anyway, back to your dream. I see you doing this. Look at what you have already accomplished, it’s incredible. I smiled when you got emotional at the thunder rolling in, this is the kind of heart touching moments that tell us how much you care about nature. You share so much with the world through the words and heart you share. People tell me this about me all the time, and I’m making an effort to be more vocal when other people touch me in these same ways. People like you deserve all the beautiful things. Love and care from your friend in Minnesota 💛

You saying bear/beer was too adorable. I just turned 50 and I was always scared of hitting that number. But I don’t feel 50, in my mind I’m still in my 30s. Age is just a number but old is a mindset. Also I think the older you get, the less scary those big numbers feel. I’m 50 but now I look at people in their 60s and 70s and I’m like they don’t seem old 😂

I'm 52 almost and when I was in high school didn't think I'd even make it to 23! Time just goes faster and faster. In spite of my body also not being what it used to be I'm still me, and that hasn't changed. :) Suddenly you get older! Not sure how long I'll be around either, and some think I'm morbid to think about my own death. I truly think the death of others is more tragic than my own since it seems the living are the ones left behind. I'm sure that'll change the closer I get! LOL! Good video!

My best friend from school always told me from an early age that he knew that he would not live a long life. I would assure him that he would live a long life as his other family members had lived. He would alway tell me that he was certain of never seeing old age and felt this deep inside hisself. He never seemed worried or negative about it but expressed his thought and feelings with certainty. He went through life living as many experiences as possible with no regrets. As he predicted, he died in his 40s. I think that it was harder for me to cope with the loss than for him because he knew deep inside that this was his truth and destiny. So, I do understand your feelings and feel that there is validity and truth to our own truth and inner self awareness.

I think about this often too, especially the part about time moving by faster. I've made a conscious decision that enough is enough, and I will live more in the moment. And yes, that means going to the bathroom without my phone :( but paying closer attention to my surroundings, people and trying to make my days unique (different route to work, for example) seriously helped make this year feel like it lasted forever, and we're only half way done! Remember how we think of our childhoods as the golden days, and how amazing they were? Now, try to remember how you actually felt during those times. Probably no different than right now. That means the "good old days" are literally NOW. You, in this moment, will be the "good old days" to yourself in 10 years. So since we can't manipulate time, the ONLY course of action is to live presently and try not to dwell on the past, or worry too much about the future. :D

I think you are too young to worry how long you will live. If your life is full, and you have tomorrow to look forward to, then that is what matters. I don’t think I’ve ever wondered if I would grow old. There was too much life to live.
As I have probably mentioned before, over a year ago, I died, and was brought back to life. The ONE thing I took away from that experience is that if you haven’t done what what you want to do in life, do it now. Tomorrow is not promised. But don’t dwell on the “what if”, just live today to it’s fullest. I am enjoying more life now, than I did before I died. I think I’m living on bonus days, and I want them to be the best ever.
I do hope you enjoy what you have. You live in such a beautiful place. I feel like I’m missing something when you show the tree, mountains, and lakes that are around you.

To recap, over a year and a half ago I got really sick. What I thought was a bad cold, (others thought it was Covid) turned out to be double pneumonia. But apparently that was just the icing on the cake as it were. I had congestive heart failure, where the heart just stops. Had I waited one more day, and not gone to hospital, I would not be here. My heart stopped three times while in hospital. I spent a month in hospital, then five months wearing a life vest, just in case my heart would stop again. Luckily it did not. Doing so much better now, and I make sure to do more walking, exercise, and healthier eating.
Life is too fragile to worry about what is to come. I found out the hard way. I’m doing so much in my life now, that I feel liberated, and want to experience more!
If you saw how long my hair is, you may be jealous. Hehehe. Maybe not. 😁 But yours is looking good. ❤️❤️

I think it often is that when we live with great awareness than it is a part in us that tries to protect us from pain through beeing pessimistic about this kind of things. Even when there is clearly another part that is knowing how much we love life and that we would love to stay for a long time. And in the age between 20 and maybe 40 everything seems to be under a magnifiing glass because we believe that we have to put so much into this time, for example finding a partner, having kids, starting a career... I almost don’t recognize myself in the mirror. I feel like I’m young and I don’t age but my body does. It’s a bit like feeling young in spirit but your body doesn’t match you anymore. Dear Daniel , is because we are eternal, Our soul ...in thé nature where you live, this true become more and more Strong.
In some way, you experience what is called "being the witness" of what surrounds you. Because you are much more than what you can perceive through the senses. I feel, that as a sensitive artist that you are, you, already you know it. You can read this in Vedanta philosophy, for more. All blessings dear friend 😊🙌, Irène ( What amazing video 💞👏👏👏👏)

We choose several exit points (times + circumstances) prior to our incarnation. It's your soul that decides which exit point it will take. When it thinks you're done learning and experiencing and playing vital parts in other peoples lives it will take the next pre-planned exit. Some exits are unforseen because we have free will.
Free will implies that once you're born you can deviate from the plan.
Time is accelerating. It's not just a feeling 😉

I have similar feelings Daniel that come and go but especially now again with older relatives getting closer to the end of their lives and having more health issues. I hope I live old if my quality of life is not bad. The ideal situation is for both me and my twin brother to live old. He doesn’t want to see me go. He’s told me. So, for him to go first and then me after. But who knows. Unfortunately, it’s very unlikely we will go at the same time so one of us is going to be twindowed.
The only thing I know, is that if things didn’t change the chances of living old for me would have been unlikely.

Thoughts about our days on earth are natural and bring one close to God. Thoughts of an eternal life cross my mind more often as I approach 70. My mom is 93 and still active. Hey Daniel!!!
Good to see u in your magical land/forests!!!
None of us know when we're going to leave this earth, nor, how we will leave it!
The only sure thing is, all of us will be leaving it at some point and we can't do a thing about it and nothing can keep us here!!!
We can only, and should, cherish the time we're allowed here!!!
Heck yes, I am afraid of bears too, who isn't!
We are nothing against a bear, even the ones who aren't very aggressive!
Yes, that photo was awesome and in the Spring it really looks different, than when, in winter, both being, beautiful!
    Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, that lake is stunning!!!
U were hoping for a lot of rain, maybe you're going to get it lol
I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the rain and thunder, it's lightening I'm afraid of!!!!
Daniel, I love that dream you have, where a lot of like minded people get together, but up tons of land where no one, especially the government, can't come in and take it, and/or cut the beautiful trees from it!!!!
OMG Daniel, how cold is that water, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, as I'm watchin so capped mountains in the distance lol
OMG, that yard, full of flowers, is totally breathtaking, with your house in the distanced, wow!!!
I would neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr mow that yard, ever!!!!!
What a beautiful new friend Vanessa!!!!!
Daniel, looking at the photos you've taken, OMG, you're at artist, through and through and should be selling your artwork in galleries, no joke, I'm serious!!!
They are full of emotion and beauty!!!!
What a gift u have, for photographing!!!
Daniel, thank you so much for taking us on this awesome journey of yours!!!
What fun and interesting things to show us, it's epic!!!
Can't wait to see the next video!!!!
    Thank you!!!

That was a great vlog :)
I think it is healthy to contemplate life and death, nothing is given and this contemplation gives us a greater perspective and helps us appreciate the gift of life. In reality if there is no death, there is no life, if there is no darkness there is no light, if there are no spaces matter can not exist. Everything exists because of something else. 'Interdependance, It is all one, we are all one.😊
You live in a beautiful part of our world and your video and photos help us all appreciate the beauty and sacredness of our world 🌎 :) also your sensitive nature, sense of wonder and courage are so refreshing.

It is not weird to think about the only certainty that we, human beings, have and that is the notion of our finitude
I believe that, in one way or another, all of us have gone through these stages but if that prevents us from enjoying the present moment, it becomes complicated. Everything will be ok, I know.

When I was younger, in my early 20's, I felt like I wouldn't make it to 25 because of what was happening in the world around me at the time. Then before I knew it I was 35 and I developed a couple of health issues and I thought it was all downhill from there. At 50 I started thinking about how the people in my family either died at 67 or made it into their late 90's. Now at 57 I reflect on how I could have 10 years to go or possibly 40. All I know now is that when I wake up in the morning I want whatever time I have to be happy. I want to enjoy myself and continue to grow, learn and create. Enjoy your lawn of flowers, enjoy the flower in your hair and the time you spend with friends both new and old. 🙂 Best wishes from New Mexico!

I live in a very conservative neighborhood in Arizona and everyone here is so obsessed with keeping their yards so manicured and “perfect.” I just don’t get it.
One time while at work, there was a closed parking lot and all the weeds and grass started getting really long and overgrown. Someone said to me, “god, just look at how bad that looks.” I replied, “only humans could be so offended by nature doing what it does.”
I say let your lovely dandelions grow as long as they want. They look beautiful. Nature, as it is, is beautiful. Taming it, restraining it, manicuring it, as humans do, is ridiculous.
Love these little windows into your world!
