I made a HUGE mistake, spoilers BEGIN at 0:40, not end! The spoilers end at 2:50! I'm so sorry!

I really loved this game. From my point of view, it's because of this game, CoD 4 modern warfare was made. Swordfish studio's was acquired by Codemasters after an agreement with Activision in 2008. If you look at the weapons p90, G11, the Aug... even the melee. Even the lay-out of the maps... because of Cold Winter the formule or format changed for CoD for a ww2 game into the modern day and age. Look at the aim down site and the scoop you get with a sniper... but that's just my opinion

I loved this game. I always thought this is one of the rare games where the cutscenes are actually worse than the actual gameplay visually. It’s a shame they didn’t make more games on this engine.

I loved this game as a teenager, it also had online multiplayer lobbies if you had the console connected with the ethernet/HDD attachment.

I'm jealous, I'm sure it was a blast online. I only ever played Battlefront 2, Mortal Kombat & SOCOM online back then.

There are so many reasons this game should be bad. The awful plot that doesn’t make any sense, the stiff-ass controls, the framerate, the muddy audio. But something about it just really charms me. The stealth/exploration segments are really immersive and fun. The crafting system was pretty unusual for the time, and anything where you can play multi with bots is always good. But there’s something about the way enemies just explode into red mist and chunks when you shoot them, in this particular game, that literally never gets old to me.

The multiplayer is godly for a ps2 shooter

I'd like to see a remaster, but who even owns the game now? The dev got shut down not long after shipping 50 Cent Blood On The Sand. Maybe Nightdive Studios could remaster this. They've done some good ones over the years.
Maybe check out the PS2 port of Soldier of Fortune too. It's a decent port and can even be played using a mouse and keyboard. Shame Soldier of Fortune 2 only released on Xbox and pc.

I would imagine it's Activision, right? I doubt this game ever sees a remaster, seeing how forgotten it is already but a man can dream lmao.
Looooove Soldier of Fortune, I'll definitely check them out! I didn't get into Soldier of Fortune 2 as much, I'm sure it's a good game but I think my version of the game was bugged or something. I was getting absolutely destroyed even on normal difficulty.

@NoMooreMercy, You're right, it is Activision. They don't usually treat older forgotten games well. Examples? They charge $30 full price for Quake 4, Singularity, and Timeshift on Steam. Used console copies are often cheap. Yeah...
I think the difficulty balance for Soldier of Fortune 2 wasn't as good as 1. There are mods that can improve the game. 2 went more tactical FPS while 1 was Quake 2 with a modern military skin.

What is it with PS2 FPS games having bad controls? Any time I go back to them, it hits me like a tonne of bricks. Was Halo really that influential when it came to setting "the" standard?

I think the frame timing/inconsistent frame rate has a lot to do with responsiveness.

Ps2 fps games having bad controls was a result of a few things probably. There weren’t many FPSs that were good on ps2 in general, and even the ones that were, still had the ps2 controller. That controller wasn’t the best for FPSs. Mainly due to the shoulder buttons. They all used r1 instead of r2, which was the more trigger like button on the Xbox. And the sticks on the ps2 controller (and ps3) didn’t feel that good. Also the ps2 might not have had the horsepower to run some of the shooters as good as the Xbox or a stronger pc.
Regarding halo….yeah, it was that influential at the time. Xbox was pretty much a failed system, about dead. But when halo dropped it not only saved Xbox, but it skyrocketed it in popularity. The controller was good for shooters, and the system was more PC like, than the ps2. So it got things like doom 3. But halo at the time, looked and played great. Way better than any other FPS on console. The gameplay, graphics, sound, level design, and shooting. I didn’t have an Xbox at the time, but everyone was talking about and playing halo.
As far as hype, The only thing that came close to it, somewhere around that time was gta vice city….
