They need to tell this to younger people so that they don't feel they need to be in that loop. I'm 58 now. I learned all of this at a young age. Nothing is so important. Following others is a race that never ends. Trying to keep appearances is an illusion it's not important. What's left after everything has faded are just meaningless memories. Not important. When my hair was turning silver someone asked me if I was going to dye my hair. I looked at them, and said no. I earned this, and I'm not going to pretend to be young. I'm old. They didn't like that answer. I didn't care.
The truth about ageing is you do what ever make you feel great, I love dyeing my hair, taking care of my skin for me, I don't care to please nobody but myself.
I love getting older love all wrinkles & grey hair glad I am not like anyone else don't care what they do have. Best part is inside the body ❤ outside takes care of itself if keep fit/healthy. I have earned it all not going to hide it all just because I have grown older. Have never dyed my hair I like natural only wear small amount of makeup as prefer no masks but admire others who apply it well. I am proud to be me love myself kept strong & healthy over my life found only way to go - By living this way meant I could look after all my loved ones was able to cope be happy with myself & that was always top priority paramount to me as family everything ❤ True beauty comes from within ❤
When i was younger, 20s or 30s or even 40s all I wanted was to make my family happy rich in a monetary way so I would work allways but, I should've done is just work 5 days a week 40 hours. Then spend quality time with my kids now I'm 60ty years old and 1 of my children has passed! I miss him every day and night he's with God! I should've spent more time with what really matters! I love my best friend and son who was born with autism he was all love and peace and so innocent and beautiful. These children with special needs are clean in heart ❤️ no malice at all ❤ love you, Vincent ❤️ until I see you again, son ❤️
Your story is quite emotional for me, particularly to hear that your son passed unexpectedly. But just know that, regardless, you were a great Dad, working out there all the time, just to give your family the Best of Life. May his soul rest in peace!
Thank you for these nuggets of wisdom! I am 63 and started embracing the changes you suggest when I turned 60. And my life & health has significantly improved. I am just so grateful that I now have the opportunity to take better care of myself. Thank you for reinforcing the way I am living my life and loving every minute of it!❤❤❤❤
If I could stop being an alcoholic, most of these things would be achievable. but... alas..... Also, at 62, I am probably facing dementia. I have worked for the same employer for 35 years, only to find that he doesn't care about my retirement or work "after life". He is due to retire soon. My rent is more than half of my income. When he retires, I cannot afford my rent at all on social security! My plan was to buy a camper to live in. But where do I put it? How can I afford lot rent? And what happens in the ultimate Dementia sets in? How will I live? Scary as all F**k!
Not being materialistic saved me from toxic relationships. I could always walk away. Toxic people are always into power and accumulation of wealth. They don't understand people that they can't control with these things.
Thank you for this! It's not an accident that I happened to come across this video. I'm 64 and will be 65 December 2024. I've been battling with do I want to retire or not. I despise my job and am done with office politics and busting myself to make crazy money for the higher-ups. When I can get on medicare, I'm going to take some time off or get a simple part-time job. Blessings to all reading this.
It only depends on when we wake up. And smell the roses or coffee. That we finally realize it's all true, it's about the journey we're taking and NOT THE (Final) DESTINATION. NOW WE ARE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER, JUST WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS HERE.
No where does she mention “waiting” until you’re 61… this is coming from one person’s perspective, there’s no “science” behind what she’s saying… embrace what resonates with you✌🏾
I’m 59 and I’m totally here. Sometimes life brings you here sooner. I had a brain tumor 15 years ago and got divorced the same year. Coming through the trauma changed my entire outlook.
Started for me at 55 I'm now 59 I live in a studio with very few things but everything I have I use and every quarter I revisit my counter and discard anything not being used .
It's amazing how, when we r young, and socializing, raising kids, setting goals, traveling, etc!, how important everything is. When we get to retirement, We see friends and family, pass away, and we slow down, and , not deal with drama, as much.Im retired in Danbury, CT. , on a fixed income. Ive had alot of deaths, in my family, in the past 15 yrs. My elderly mother, my ex husband, my younger sister, to Lewy Body Dementia , a male friend , in Cali. I am alone here. I have a sister in Austin, TX, a brother in Brinnon, Wash, and my daughter, in LA. I'm learning to be more patient in life, and not worry about problems, that may arise.
@@markfire1923 it isn't the country--it is inside you! I lived in SE Asia and found many unhappy and many happy people. I have been content in every circumstance!
I semi retired at 56, then got a part time job in a pizza factory. I finally retired at 60 years 9 months and it's true for me as well. I like being older because people respect us a little more. Also, in my 50's I used to feel disappointed that I don't have more expensive things (big house, expensive car, more money, etc.) now I don't care about those things. I enjoy solitude, one or two friends, and being in nature walking, riding my bike, taking the dog for walks, doing exercises in the neighborhood park at sunrise.
The freedom to be..... I turned 61 last month. Over the months i had started decluttering my life of stuff. I feel lighter and really feel really blessed when i look back, and plan to really intentionally counting my blessings 😊
Chill, life is only what you want. My big awakening was when I understood that I am totally in control of how I feel and how I respond to anything and everything that happens in life. I never let myself react to life. I found this to help a whole lot. You are God and you are in control. Love yourself every morning and tell yourself that you are divine energy.😎👍🙏🎶💕
Everything you have been longing for for a lifetime matters. If it happens at 61; you even enjoy it more, or a bit more older. While life is there, you are still a whole person. Happy birthday ❤❤❤
I turned 61 just two days back. But since 55 only, I started to let go off things not required, stopped worrying about unimportant things, about others' opinions, about unreached goals. I am happy about the way I have led my life, proud of it, I never compare my life with others. I am happy and contented with what little I have. Happy to have a caring and loving husband and son. No more expectations😊
I plan to retire at the end of 2025 at 62 after 36 years in Telecom as a sales engineer. My wife will retire in May 2026 and she's loving life! But walking away from a good income stream and building the nest egg to living from the nest egg is a scary proposition couple with the alarming recession and CPI report
Take a walk around any old graveyard, the futility of life staring us in the face . Im in my fifties and have sweet fa, but i march to my own drum beat and couldn't care less what people think of me .
I'm almost 59 and I'm starting to feel these aspects coming into my life. Your thinking and perspective on what's important starts to change as you reach 60. I love who I am more now than ever 😊
I'm in total control of how I feel. I walk away in uncomfortable situations and have no patience in certain situations. I don't care what others think. I'm in peace with my own choices.
I am way past 61 and think this needs to be viewed by those much younger as well. There are messages / concepts in this video that can greatly help those of all ages. Peace.

What I don't like is when , you hear what they say about the older celebrities. Look how badly they aged. They don't look as good as the use too. They are older some fatter. How good are they going to look when they get older? Some of the elderly have survived Cancer, Have to take medication that makes you fatter. And keeps the weight on you.. Or some people no fault of their own don't age well like others do because of their genes. I no longer watch those videos that put down older celebrities any more. Listening to people talking down about the elderly
Thanks for this comment. I’m struggling with having to take medication that causes weight gain. I hate it but need to accept the fact that right now that is what is best for me and I can’t get stuck on what others might think.
My mother’s attitude in regards to spending money was that you should have something to show for it. Spending on experiences was a ridiculous waste of money in her mind. I bought into this and spent my 20s-40s buying all the things that would make my home look upper middle class. Yet all I really wanted to do was travel. So here I am at 60 and I’ve never been to Europe. But I do have 5 sets of fine china and three sets of lead crystal stemware. I never entertain but my dining room is fabulous. Hubby and I are now downsizing and finally planning a European vacay or two, maybe three, in the foreseeable future! My past experiences and those memories make me rich.
I think social media has made it harder for us to accept how we look and just get on with the natural aging process. There is pressure to continue doing so many things that may no longer serve us well. This video makes so many good points that, at 68, I hope I can actually put into practice. Especially, the letting go of the accumulated belongings of a lifetime. I know my kids do not need, or want, most of the items I might be leaving behind. And, I don't want them to have to deal with it! Now, if I could just get my hubby on board the decluttering train! 😅
According to my experience, most people over age 61 don't change and they continue to live their ways if not worse! Easier said than done as old habits die hard and humans are made of and accumulation of habits..
For 25 years, I hauled around the machinery from a closed tile manufacturing business. I finally left it stacked up at a storage unit dumpster for someone to find or use if they ever figured out what it was. I think it was because I had spent my late mother's inheritance on it, so many years before, and letting go of it, was letting go of her...P.S. I really want to let go of social events, but my ex-debutante wife won't let me...I told her "I don';t want to attend, I want to travel..."
I am not 61, there's still some more time for that. But for the past one year or so I have been doing all the things listed here and wondering about myself, wondering why I was changing so much. I was asking myself if I was getting old, if I was cutting myself off from life and society. Thanks to your video, I have understood what I was subconsciously doing, healing myself, living a better life, living a life that was uniquely me and living every moment of it with awareness. Thank you so much for your support!!
My strength doesn't depend on my age, money, the crowd surrounding or fame. There is something more sweet in this world that not everyone can taste only a few ones. ❤❤❤ Happy birthday 🎂 life starts at@ 61😂 0:15 ❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Change is difficult. Speaking about it creates awareness. I can contemplate what I find in my life that i no longer need. The freedom to be,The freedom to do is just around the bend because I am working on it…step by step.
I'n 73 and all my friends are dead. I'm alone most of the time and its taking a toll. I have one son and he lives far away. I have become a recluse and fear the world out there. Sorry enough said.
Life is about struggle. Man against nature, man against man, and man against himself. No matter what age, life pushes us out of our comfort zone, you know, the place where we actually learn something. Many people do not advance in consciousness over their entire life, some even regress but some learn the lessons life is offering them and they move on. Many refuse to accept the lessons presented and the same lessons are repeated more intensely, either in this life or subsequent incarnations. Many people with very difficult lives are recalcitrant in their acceptance of life's lessons. No one achieves happiness by pursuing it because it is a side effect of doing your duty and you get to decide what that is. We were created by love and for love so although life is hard it is not cruel. We are forever.
I'm 61+ we need to look after ourselves think Alot about our life in needs & Spoil ourselves & be free from stress & toxic Humans live love laugh ..take care You r You You're Beautiful Babe...
11:20 hit home...this ENTIRE video has echoed the sentiment I've had for years. Definitely hasn't taken me 61 years to realize this, however, I've known for quite some time that I absolutely will NOT live like this at 60 or better. Life is way to short and I intend to live MINE just as others have lived THEIRS. Love, Light, Peace and Blessings🥰
Agree with everything except physical appearance. I ‘m 73 and remain physically active in the gym and hiking in the forest. I keep up my physical fitness as well as appearance because this gives me joy and pride that at my age I still get compliments on my fitness. Not a preoccupation but a long established way of life for me .
Physical health and appearance and mental well-bring are related. None of these can ever be irrelevant. All the best. May you always be healthy, fit and well turned out!
Hats off to you 👍

Not quite! When we die, we finally awaken from the nightmare of living this life on earth! @genesmith4019
If 61 is the first year of being old, I've been old for ten years now. Oh well, still here and kicking.
The truth about ageing is you do what ever make you feel great, I love dyeing my hair, taking care of my skin for me, I don't care to please nobody but myself.
Awesome. I'm 55 and I'm not dying my full head of gray hair anymore!! Fuck em
When i looked in the mirror and didn t recognize myself anymore,it sucks, sucks!

Sounds very defensive to me .. and why are memories meaningless to you ?
1. others' expectations, 2. accumulation of material goods, 3. unnecessary social obligations, 4. preoccupation with physical appearance, 5. unsatisfying activities, 6. negative toxic relationships, 7. comparisons with others' lives, 8. unattainable or irrelevant goals, 9. blame for prioritizing our own happiness.

I'm nearly 53 and I started realising that a lot of things I worried about as a teenager don't matter before I turned 40.
Not everyone gets to age... Time is precious, use it wisely 🎁
I started this last year...I'm 59. My recommendation is to start earlier. It's actually very liberating.
I try to tell my kids this, the sooner you can get over what others think, and you do you, the freer you will feel.

That is just projecting their own fears and insecurities
Thanks for this comment. I’m struggling with having to take medication that causes weight gain. I hate it but need to accept the fact that right now that is what is best for me and I can’t get stuck on what others might think.
Very inspiring and beautiful. Thank you!
Thank You so very much for helping me acknowledge things my inner voice has been saying and I've ignored for years
Bless You ❤
If there is ever a game changer it's cancer. I will be 62 in 4 months. I would agree with most of these.
You should rent out your dining room n fine China for people who live in an apartment n would like to entertain. Lol
I know this since i am 51.
Make me feel very good and free without chains.
Living in SEA with a wonderful Person in peace, love and happiness.
❤❤❤
Thank you !❤❤❤
New subscriber, here! Beautiful video....just what I needed today. Thank you. I look forward to more of your content. 💜
Well said, God bless!!!
One thing about joking with people, Is they will aways try to prove your stupid. Life is a joke, and I tried too make it funnier.
I have gained more knowledge after 60 than before all of the previous years ❤❤❤Great content 😂🎉
Very wise indeed ,yet too much courage and self confidence is needed to make a change at this age, when you’re probably a retired grandmother🤣🤗❣️❣️❣️
According to my experience, most people over age 61 don't change and they continue to live their ways if not worse! Easier said than done as old habits die hard and humans are made of and accumulation of habits..
Truly excellence advice .thank you.
Wish I knew all this a lot earlier.
Lol, not really! It can be done from now on... too!❤🎉
For 25 years, I hauled around the machinery from a closed tile manufacturing business.
I'm 61, stumbled on this list. Loved it and took a lot of notes.
I have had a good life.
I started looking upward.
Im 61 and am happy with my life i.i try to do my best always i don't force nothing and i know that im bless
Yes so true life is too short and we should be happy for now and have no worries and that our families are healthy and safe in Jesus name amen 🙏❤️
Let's live HEAVEN into our lives now & beyond.🙏💖
It's a very nice & heart touching video
My strength doesn't depend on my age, money, the crowd surrounding or fame. There is something more sweet in this world that not everyone can taste only a few ones. ❤❤❤ Happy birthday 🎂 life starts at@ 61😂 0:15 ❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
So then abortion should be legal to the age of 60. Thank God I'm 71.
Thank you for sharing
When i turned 61 in September, a friend who was a math teacher observed that i had reached my prime. 61 cannot be divided into a whole
Change is difficult. Speaking about it creates awareness. I can contemplate what I find in my life that i no longer need. The freedom to be,The freedom to do is just around the bend because I am working on it…step by step.
My age 72yr old most of my friends are dead
Same here. We have the memories of them ❤ and we might meet new people, but there’s nothing like an old friend. ✌🏼
I'n 73 and all my friends are dead. I'm alone most of the time and its taking a toll. I have one son and he lives far away. I have become a recluse and fear the world out there. Sorry enough said.
Please make new friends😊
As fate would have it, i was relieved of most of these attachments 20 years arlier than 60. Its difficult to explain how it happened.
I will always care about my physical appearance as long as I am in my right mind. I agree with the rest of this information.

Hang on to your homes, and your health
Fa'afekai! IA Iesu! Thank the Lord for " small favors".
And the large - what you call favors.
I stepped off the treadmill at 48 yrs old and have never looked back.
I'm 63 and half way to 64. This is so true and helpful, thank you 😊👍🏻
11:20 hit home...this ENTIRE video has echoed the sentiment I've had for years. Definitely hasn't taken me 61 years to realize this, however, I've known for quite some time that I absolutely will NOT live like this at 60 or better. Life is way to short and I intend to live MINE just as others have lived THEIRS. Love, Light, Peace and Blessings🥰
I love this. Thank you.
Thank you for this video, good advice.
Life is short enjoy every moment
Am so glad I found this am 57 and having a hard time , aging am work but see younger people so upset over stuff !!
My favorite quote: "We are not humans experiencing the universe, we're the universe experiencing humans"
I'm four months shy of 61, and I'm beginning to understand this. It feels GOOD.
I'm 60 and hang a wet beach towel on mine nearly every morning!
I’ll be 60 next year thank you for all this valuable information 😊
