"I am not going for perfect, I am going for done"
I am a perfectionist and that's why I am always doing all the work at home, I think it is time to let go perfectionism and let my 3 kids and husband to help, thank you so much for this advice
I’ve never thought about using the washing machine as the laundry basket. I love it! I threw the kids laundry in the wash right away so we can start this tonight!
I use my washing machine as a laundry bin too. I wait till it's full and then run the washer. Also, I don't wear 'whites' so that I can put everything in one load.
I love your point that clothes rolled up and squished into a drawer is better than a laundry couch😂
A few years ago I started washing each persons clothes together. I love it no question about who’s socks or who’s shirt!! With 6 people it works perfectly.
Kids really don’t care about perfection in their dressers, do they? Once I figured that out, my aggravation (& their frustration) went way down! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE laundry! 🧺 It’s my favorite job! It’s just my son and me, so I only do two loads each week. Wednesday is clothes. I get them out immediately and lay flat to avoid wrinkles. I hang/fold and put away right away. On Saturday I wash underwear, socks, towels. I don’t care if they wrinkle, so I pull them out Sunday or Monday to put away. We wash sheets monthly. Simple and enjoyable ❤️
Awesome system! 😊
Rachel, Rachel oh my goodness what a Beautiful video! I love your views about imperfection, Done is better than imperfect .You are Amazing
This may be revolutionary for me! Here, the kids' hamper sits in the laundry room - get this - *right in front of the washing machine.* 🤦🏻♀️ I'm going to take it away! It's a small room, and I'm sure my husband would appreciate it not taking up floor space as he's in and out of the garage a lot through there. The only issue I may face is potty training mess towels that require immediate rinsing or washing, which I prefer to do apart from regular laundry. But I don't think those seldom instances are a big enough factor to cause any issues. I'm going to try it! Thank you!
Laundry is the only chore I really like to do!)) A run my washing machine nearly every day and it's ok for me to wash towels together, to separate whites etc. We used to use washer as a laundry bin when I was a kid but it doesn't work for me now. My kid would naturally throw clothes on the floor but I found a better solution: I put a laundry bin directly in the bathroom so now it's more simple for her just to throw clothes into it.
Laundry is the chore I dislike the most. I find my system is that I assign a laundry day to each person (there are 6 of us) on that day I launder bedding (if needed) and the persons clothes for that day. I don’t sort I just do it all together and haven’t had any trouble with bleeding. Then the child can help put their laundry away and make the bed. Also I have reduced the amount of clothes we all have and that has been extremely helpful. I don’t even care if they fold them haha (I gave up on that..as long as it’s in there drawer I am happy!).
We use the washer as a hamper too... and the kids know my strict rule that NOTHING IN THE POCKETS!! I have baskets in the laundry room for the kids clean clothes and I don’t fold. Just sort out of the dryer and done! SO.MUCH.BETTER.
Love your laundry system! Simple, yet Brilliant!
Using the washer instead of a hamper is very clever! We do use hampers, but, like you, don’t sort and just wash the pants and underwear and pajamas etc all together. That saves so much energy! Since we have lots of thrifted items and hand me downs, (and maybe garment dyes are better now?) we hardly ever have a highly pigmented garment that we have to worry about bleeding onto another.
Love your advice so much! Thank you!!!
Your systems with clothes and laundry sound really clever!
Thanks 😊
I so so relate, wow. Thank you for the incredibly helpful tips!
Love it!
Thanks for these wonderful tips🙏
Cute kids! 😁
I LOVE the 2021 challenge!! Totally going to join! I hate laundry too! Currently figuring things out!! Plus I am ABSOLUTELY going to try the section by section because I have really littles and I get interrupted A LOT. I was trying to go kid by kid but was getting extremely overwhelmed and thought “oh whatever!” Lol 😂. But I am going to try category per kid to see how that goes! Love your laundry system!! Going to have to give it a try too! Thank you for this video and having a channel!! Grateful for you and this Collab Dawn started! God Bless all!
6:00 This is genius!
Hi thank you somuch
Laundry has always been a struggle for me, sorting and then folding was just too tedious for me. I remember the day I decided I was going to see what happened if I didn't sort, turns out nothing happened, everything survived just fine! From that point on I stopped sorting and shortly after that I stopped folding a larger percentage of our clothes. We don't wear light colors because we are a messy family, I would rather enjoy doing an art project or watching my son play outside than constantly be hoovering making sure he is isn't getting his clothes soiled.
I'm a stay at home grandma, living with my son and daughter in law. I do all the laundry. 3 adults and 6 kids... soon to be 7.
I separate into darks, light and white.
I pretreat the stains and rotate bedding to make sure blankets, sheets etc are always getting done.
After I fold and my daughter in law puts the clothes away.
I also do all the ironing.
I like sending the kids to school with clothes that are nice and pressed. My son shirts get ironed also.
They do not ask me to do it, I just like doing it. I'd rather do laundry that dishes any day.
That's really wonderful that you can do that for them. 😊
Good video
Great video! Do you spot treat any of your kids’ clothes? I like the idea of using the washing machine as a laundry basket but I usually go through the kids’ clothes and spray them first so I’m wondering how that might work with your system?
I don't- unless I'm aware of something bad that they stained with.
@@Nourishingminimalism thank you!
minimal mom saves herself one more step. she doesnt even fold her kids clothes, she has folding cloth boxes. one for pants, one for shirts, 1 for underthings and she has them do it. 😆
We will be doing my girls clothes this week!
Off topic, but what lipstick do you use?? 💗💄💗
Love it!!
And it's just a cheap one- Revlon 130 Rose Velvet. I like the color of this one, so I've been using the same one for a couple years. 😁
I'm going to see if I can find it. It is a gorgeous color!
Been there!!!! 😱 No more! 😊

I don't sort clothes .I wash towels separately because they wear out clothes
I keep trying to get the kids to rewear clothes but my piles are too big.
What about washing your sheets?
people wash their sheets? o.O
just kidding, but I definitely wash it way too rarely, I just kind of forget it
On Saturdays when we do our "Weekly Reset" we wash towels and sheets.
If anyone still reads this, please help. I still don't understand how come you have less laundry when you have less clothes? You just do laundry more often otherwise you run out? Is that it? If so isn't it still the same amount? I only wash my kids clothes when they are dirty or have been worn two days. They hardly ever make it to the second day btw. And I've tried washing different colours together a bunch of times and except for once everytime it ruins clothes because the colours bleed. Do they have magical washing machines in the usa that are kept secret from europeans??
I have an autistic daughter she likes a lot of one thing and she has all these jo jo bows for her hair but does not we eat them and she wimpy let me get rid of them . Do you have any suggestions
It can help to "pack them up" for a while and put them out of sight. I've asked my kids to do an experiment and put all the boxes of misc. things in the garage so they can see how it feels to have a super-clean room. Then we would work out if/when to let those things go later. Many months later I ended up bartering with them: we could get rid of their boxes and I would buy them each a scooter. It worked.
