Just picked this fan up a couple of days ago. With a fully charged 4Ah battery, timed...it lasted 9.5hrs on HIGH speed. Fairly impressed! Low speed doesn’t push much air but Medium to High it pushes enough. Unit feels solid and a great bonus that you can plug it in direct. Update: Fully charged 4Ah, fan on Medium’ish, it ran for 12hrs
FYI - It also has the mounting point for the Ridgid Portable Stand found in the center at the bottom. I believe it's a 1/4 - 20 thread nut molded into its frame if memory serves correctly.
you did a better job selling this than their own website. didnt know about the steel hooks, or the steel pipe holes or the thingy on the bottom where you can hang it on a screw in the wall.
FYI on the high speed setting, the 4Ah battery gave me about 7-8 hours of run time. Didn't put a stopwatch to it, I'm just going by starting it at the start of my shift and it died somewhere along that line.
The 2x4 mounting is great idea. Would have been nice to have when i was redoing my kitchen and had to move my fan around on a ladder. That takes up a lot of space and is a pain to move.
The one thing I believe would make this the ultimate job site fan would be if it could charge a battery at the same time its plugged in. This wouldn’t be hard to do, maybe next version.
Ridgid has an offer right now through Nov. 2, 2017 If you buy 2 bare tool only tools you get a 2ah battery and charger FREE! I'm going to buy 2 fans ($59.99) each. I'll never have to buy another small fan again! The fan is covered by the Lifetime service agreement (with registration). The free battery/charger ($99 value) is covered by the Lifetime service agreement also. The fans are the least expensive tool that qualifies for this offer that is why I'm buying 2 fans and I can use 2 fans. What a deal!
Great review. I have visions of that thing spinning around in circles while mounted loosely on top of a single length of pipe and running at full speed using a battery. I only say that because the holes for mounting are offset from the center. Probably wouldn't happen, but for some reason that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw where the holes were positioned.
Thats too funny, i was thinkin the same thing. If angled just right i'll bet it does spin around. Lol. I was more concerned about the swivel on the fan. If i heard him correctly theres no tightening adjustments? So after time would that wear out?
I like this fan. I have used this in my store when the ac was out using a 6 year old 1.5 ah battery around mid speed and it got me around 6 hours. the curve of the blades help spread out the air nicely. the only thingi do not like is the switch. with the off being next to high instead of low you can shut if off by mistake. yes I know nit picking :P
In fans, this is often done for a reason. It takes a lot of 'oomph' to get some types of motors to spin up from a dead-stop. To avoid the bulk & expense of a start-up capacitor, they just put 'high' next to 'off'.
I said how come Milwaukee doesn't have this, apparently they do. Definitely going to look into this. Had power outage in 95 degree heat last week and had alot of batteries fully charged. This would've help alot.
Can you please do a follow up on this fan? After all these years, is it still your favorite or you got new one fan? It is on sale now for around $30 new. I'm thinking about buying one. Thanks again for making this video. I/We really appreciate your time in making this video and always looking forward to your up coming videos 👍🙏♥️
Thanks for these reviews, I've bought several tools based on your recommendations and been happy so far. What is the best way to get high capacity Ridgid batteries? I standardized on Ridgid years ago because of the LSA, I have three drills and a sawzall. I'd like to get some 4ah batteries, but with the LSA of course. Buying them alone only has a 3 year warranty. I've found that limitation frustrating, because I have all the drills I need, and they are warrantied for life. It doesn't make sense for me to buy more kits. Any advice would be appreciated.
Right now you can find 2-packs of the 4.0ah batteries for $99 @ Home Depot (leftovers from Black Friday). Unfortunately you will only get the standard warranty VS the LSA on them....but with a buy-1-get-1 deal, it makes a lot of sense.
For whatever reason, HD don't have this fan nor milwaukee in their store, so I can't stick a battery and test them. If there would be your choice to chose one between Ridgid and Milwaukee fan, which one would you get? Also, if to consider taking one while camping, to let it run in a tent over night to move an air, which one would be better in your opinion? Thank you.
TheWinwin4all They are brand new......it takes time for the warehouses to supply the stores I am guessing. As far as a choice, it would be dependent on which battery line you are in.....if that doesnt matter, I would go with the Ridgid since it EXTREMELY quiet (on low), has unreal runtimes, & takes a standard extension cord......the Milwaukee uses an adapter when plugged into the wall & does not last as long per charge.
The more I watch your videos, the more I'm being sold on ridgid. I gotta ask, as far as overall performance on a cordless tool sets, which company tool line is your preference and which would you reccomend ?
Malkier Attacks! Thanks! I think for the money, it would be hard to beat Ridgid --- especially with the new Gen5X lineup. But, it really depends on your budget, what kind of tools you need, and how you want to expand. I think that most of the companies have good lines & it boils down to personal preference most of the time ("feel" of the tools, past experience, etc). I would have no problems recommending Ridgid, Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Bosch, or Dewalt....I think they all make some good tools.
Holidays are usually the best/cheapest time to buy batteries & chargers......I am not sure what the regular price is, but you are way better off buying a kit (drill, battery, charger.....for example), vs simply buying a battery/charger combo....the price is very similar & you will get an additional tool for slightly more. Glad you liked the vid! Thanks!
Today 4 ah battery run 100, 5 ah battery 120, If you go now to home depot you can find a 2 pack of 4 ah battery for 100 bucks, I just went on Thursday and got that 2 pack deal.
How can I get the battery cause I have a fan like that if I register on the website of ridgid is this free to get batteries or do I need to buy it again ?
Batteries are "replaced free" only if you buy a combo kit (including batteries), you register them for the LSA, & they eventually fail. I made a video explaining the LSA --- I suggest watching it to understand exactly what you need to do.

Wow that 35 hour test is pure dedication. Thank you for the great reviews. Keep them coming.

The best overall description video of this amazing fan! Great overview and testing!!
Your reviews are becoming my favorite. I trust your thorough reviews on tools 100%. Keep up the excellent work.
Howard McLean Thanks Howard! I really appreciate it!
Best tool reviewer on YT. Need ya back! Headed to grab this fan as it’s getting hot!
I own this fan to use in customers cramped areas while I work in the warm area of their house. I LOVE IT!!
Why must you show me such awesome tools I shouldn't be spending my money on but really really want to? This looks absolutely awesome.
This fan is pretty darn cool ! Thanks for all of your efforts for these great reviews you do.
DC Rickerson Thanks DC! I appreciate it!

The one thing I believe would make this the ultimate job site fan would be if it could charge a battery at the same time its plugged in. This wouldn’t be hard to do, maybe next version.
Awesome! Just bought one based on this review. Thanks.
Very nice air flow & mounting options on this fan! Man Rigid is coming out with some really nice products!!!
Daniel De La Cruz Thanks Daniel! I agree....the Gen5X line is impressive!

Daniel I have to applaud your dedication to the test. Took it to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings, now that is committed. Great review,
Russ Webster Thanks Russ! I get some weird looks....but oh well....I had to know for sure!
I just ordered one, it comes with a battery and charger.
I had the Milwaukee M18 but it kept cutting out, happened with batteries and with the cord.

Mike L. Lol nice.....that would be funny to see :)

One of the best reviewers I’ve ever watched on YT
I am happy I bought this and then watched this review ☺️
Can we get battery life test on high?
I said how come Milwaukee doesn't have this, apparently they do. Definitely going to look into this. Had power outage in 95 degree heat last week and had alot of batteries fully charged. This would've help alot.
5ghostshadow Yeah....when it is hot, ANY air movement is better than hot, humid, stale air....
I have the 6 amp battery so should last awhile 🤔 plus I just got a jackery 300 😎
Ok now I want it 😍
Great review as always! Keep up the good work!!!
r0bd0g64 Thanks a lot!
how long will it last n high?

Yes, still my favorite!
I got one and enjoy mine. But.... just saw my coworker by a makita fan and I'm jealous.
i wonder how long it can run on high setting.
I have one it runs for 5 hours on hight
fartpoobox ohyeah that absolutely sounds right
I have this fan. It’s fantastic.
what would be cool if you have a better in the fan and a power cord powering the fan it charges the battery as well
that is true good point!
TEAMBIC1 Hopefully one day that will be an option....good idea!
I like mine. wish I could give up some runtime for extra air.
Thanks for these reviews, I've bought several tools based on your recommendations and been happy so far.

Buy an impact wrench kit. Even better wait for the new Gen 5 to come out as a kit.
How do you clean it to get all the dust out of the inside of it can you pressure wash it

Absolutely flawless review, well done!!!
Zunar Zulfiqar Thanks Zunar! I am glad you liked it!
Good job on the review. Thanks. I see it doesn't come with the battery. Do you know how much the battery goes for? I see the fan is $60 at Home Depot.

rodv69 I will see what I can do...sorry about that!
Cuantas horas dura la bateria 4 ha en el ryobi fan
guillermo aguilar No recuerdo ya he revisado el año pasado ... Mira el video aquí - ruclips.net/video/vBtUkJZ7Nu0/видео.html
Another great review
George S Thanks George!
Will the fan charge the battery also if the fan is plugged into an outlet?
The connection for the cord is inside the battery housing. You cannot insert a battery with an AC cord connected.
ridgid gen5x 18v flood light?
That is a cool fan.
BADD400 CB700 drums I agree! :)
Anyone know if the 9ah battery will fit this
How can I get the battery cause I have a fan like that if I register on the website of ridgid is this free to get batteries or do I need to buy it again ?

so how can I get batteries ? do I need to buy it again/
Go to Home Depot & buy batteries. The fan is sold as a bare tool (no batteries/charger included).
alright thanks. this fan will be great idea if we have a power interruption due to bad storm I wanna use this for emergency thanks.
It is BY FAR the quietest fan on the market......I 100% recommend it.
do you think it can power assist a bike with a 200 pound person for 30 minutes...without
frying...
This or ryobi fan?
This one is my favorite
How to remove front cover
You do not care
Why so hard to take apart for cleaning ?
Compressed air using a blow gun would be my suggestion.
Did you run it on high mode? If so .. How long did it last?
dvolada81 About 8 hours on high with a 4AmpHour battery
Runs for 35 hours on low.
But nobody uses the low setting.
But you know what people will do......complain no matter what! 😘
Better fan than the Ryobi or the Milchinky
We are all Ridgid fanboys around here.
Love your review, but your sound is way too shrill.
I bought one and mine sucks. The knob doesn’t work correctly. It turns it on and off only. Super disappointed.
