It seems to me that Cole is wise in the same way a child is wise: he hasn't been taught or told how things should be or how people should act, so he sees everything more or less objectively.
well, as a spirit, he doesn't suffer from other emotions, like envy or, in Dorian's case, pride. He sees just compassion and cruelty. The world is, strangely much more black-white to him, that to the others. He's simple, though not one-dimensional.
The complex wisdom of a child.... Simple, easy, untainted.... Like a clear window without the blemishes most of our windows have that comes with growing up. It's crystal clear but naive....
"You let it keep hurting, because you think hurting is who you are..." Pretty spot on observation, and tbh a little too close to home; it's so easy to define ourselves by our pain. Dorian's been in pain for so long that he is AFRAID to heal, because what if there's nothing else left?
Eventually people will just settle with what they are. They find comfort in it as it's what they know, and they have survived with who they are so far. Change may very well be a change for the worse. It's easier that way.
Dorian's voice actor is the perfect person for him. The pain I hear in Dorian's hits me so hard! It's so grief stricken, and it doesn't even sound like it's being acted out.
"His face in the stands, watching as I pass the test. So proud, there's tears in his eyes. Anything to make him happy. Anything." He doesn't just love his dad. He idolized him. He wanted to be him. And his father betrayed that. Heart shattering.
"Why would you do that?" I think it is so beautiful that Cole cares so much about Dorian and he sees how wonderful Dorian is, but he cannot comprehend how someone so kind as Dorian would let pain define himself. I love this banter, and it makes me tear up, because it hits close to home. I absolutely love those 2. This cast is just so strong.
It would hurt a lot having a Cole around but sometimes you need someone to see through you and understand how you feel but from an outer perspective and without you having to say a thing... but it would also be very annoying no being capable of hiding your deepest thoughts and feelings to him and his propension to say it all out loud...

That caught me too, though I felt it was rather unambiguous. The Father was angry over something he understands now was wrong to be so angry about. He was putting his image and expectations before his son in a very bad way. The father is repentant for more then his actions alone, he's ashamed of himself for feeling that way in the first place. It is in the past tense "hadn't meant" instead of "doesn't mean" so through Cole we know the father is very sincere about just wanting his son to be his son again rather then being motivated by something like getting his scion back to Tevinter. - For the conversation Cole had been using "He" for the father and "You" for Dorian so I feel it's pretty consistent about who the "He" is. This game had a fantastic script.

Just to be sure Dorian's father wanted to use blood magic to force Dorian into marriage with a girl. I was kind of having a hard time understanding what blood magic was. Can someone please give me a better explanation 😅 ik Tivinters are very traditional. They have to get married and have a hair to the family to make the perfect mage and to become the perfect *leader. Idk if the Magastirum is considered one person or a group of people from noble families in Tivinter.
In Tevinter they care about the appearance over all else. "There is no blood magic in Tevinter", but if you want to get ahead as a Mage, you perform Blood Magic. Nobility, both in reality and in Dragon Age, need heirs to continue the family line(Alastair's story in Origins is founded around that kind of stuff as well). In Tevinter, a noble can't be gay because being gay doesn't produce children, doesn't produce heirs. Dorian refused to pretend to be straight and marry a woman and produce heirs, keeping his true feelings hidden. His father eventually attempted to use Blood Magic to force the issue. Blood Magic can be used to control other people(one of the main abilities in Origin's Blood Mage specialization was about puppeting an enemy). Dorian found out and their relationship crumbled into dust. Dorian's father dies just before the start of Trespasser, so Dorian will now be a Magister, able to change how the country works. The Magisterium is basically like the UK's House of Lords they advise the king, or in Tevinter's case the Archon, but they also deal more in day-to-day affairs like, say, a senate or the like. Hope that helps.

But his father dies later and I don't want that to be the last time they talk. But will he hurt Dorian? Blood Magic can be used to control other people(one of the main abilities in Origin's Blood Mage specialization was about puppeting an enemy). Dorian found out and their relationship crumbled into dust. Dorian's father dies just before the start of Trespasser, so Dorian will now be a Magister, able to change how the country works. The Magisterium is basically like the UK's House of Lords they advise the king, or in Tevinter's case the Archon, but they also deal more in day-to-day affairs like, say, a senate or the like.
Hope that helps.
How do you get this angle?
They party banter is lip-synced (apart from excellently voice-acted) ??? :O Holy shit the attention to detail...
Does anyone want Cole romance? In that game?
Nope. Cole's more childlike in mannerisms. It would be out of place. And hes technically dead with someone else's face.
No
My heaaaaart.
Oh cole
I'm a cole and I grew up in a twisted world. My well intentions only hurt and I let it pollute me into a fear demon. I still like tasting it. Looking at someones worst fears and using a few words to have them come undone. It's fun to watch
Is there a chance for redemption? I always wondered if I made the right choice when I told Dorian to abandon his father. And I meant it. But his father dies later and I don't want that to be the last time they talk. But will he hurt Dorian? Dorian thinks the hurting is who he is now, should I take away his chance to hurt and to have more memories with his father? Is there a way to get out of it with out feeling ...empty? Kill his father myself and give him a reason to hate
This is why I don't like Cole.
Not that its his fault, but he is not meant for this reality.
