To me. This is your best video. This is the best Mastodon' song ever released and this solo (and what the sound means to me)... Both are very strong. Thank you for the well humorated reaction as well, nice points you bring here!
I am a basement musician... No big deal. However. I am pretty sure that this song is one of the top 10 songs ever written. It deserves "stairway to heaven" accolades. I'm not a brand new guy, I've been around for half a century. Believe me, this song is an accomplishment. Not simply a "song" .... These guys are BADASS.
Welcome to the Mastodon rabbit hole. Enjoy your stay, its permanent. Also, fun trombone fact, the Guitar and Trombone both carry the tones and range (largely) of the human voice, making both incredibly "vocal" or "singing" type instruments. We've all heard guitars and most of us have heard trombones. You can usually hum the rhythms, and this is by design. Hence this reason, they are both the staple of their respective uses. Also, Brent, the guitar solo master, used to play Banjo. This gives him INCREDIBLY sharp skills on finger picking and incorporating southern blues-ey vibes into many of the solos.
I saw them a couple months ago in in the meet and greet Bill (rhythm guitarist) told me and my dad that the riff to this song is the "sister riff" to the one on High Road from Once More Round the Sun
Definitely...more Mastodon...please. I can't get enough of this album. It's been on my turntable more than any other record since it came out. The albums "Once More Round The Sun" and "Crack The Skye" are great albums, but then so is "Remission". Hell...every one of their albums is worth listening to. I subscribed to your channel off of your Deftones reactions but have enjoyed every one I've seen so far. So thanks!
Great reaction. Mastodon is a classical prog metal band and they still rule. Their last album sounds fresh and it's just brilliant. Teardrinker is definitely worth to react to. Since you like flawless transitions and Spiritbox - you could be interested in the other prog metal band called Jinjer. Most people start from the song Pisces but I guess you'd be more interested in Teacher, Teacher or may be Vortex.
Thanks for the suggestions! I did Teacher, Teacher yesterday and LOVED it. Video is on the channel, go check it out. I also did the Pit of Consciousness guitar playthrough today, so keep an eye out for when that drops. More Mastodon is coming soon, too.
@@JON.HOUSE24 great, thank you. But why you choose guitar playthrough of Pit of Consciousness? It's cool but it's without a vocal. You missed a half of this tune this way! Please check the OMV or even better live in Kiev of this song. It's VERY solid. One of my personal favourite tracks of this band.
Ha, first one to comment :P Nice video and comments dude, subscribed. Check out more of them, you won't be disappointed. Discovered the band like 4 years ago and I must say that was a journey. If I may suggest, check out All Them Witches or Pain of Salvation.
Great to see people react to this song as yourself, I loved it as soon as I heard it...I've listened to Mastadon for a while now and they seem to have ( please don't crucify me in saying so). a metal Pink Floyd deliverance in message, the fields that the girl ( top controlers of humanity) seemto frolick in fields of poppies ( fields of past war dead)...the dead tree with the devil is offering the fruit of Nuclear and humanity chooses to bite the forbidden fruit!!!!.... Mastadon are fucking Masters of deliverance of meaning!!.. they are the tits!!
@@whitewidower13 you've come to the right channel, then haha I've definitely got more Mastadon on the roster, and I'm LOVING getting into Deftones. Also I'm a huge Tool fan, too lol
Nice reaction. mastodon rules, best discography in metal the last 2 decades Imo. I subbed, hope you keep mastodon in rotation, they don’t get enough love from reaction channels, they have so many stellar transitions throughout their career as well. Highly highly recommend the song “roots remain”, one of their best ever imo. Last thing just so you know the lead vocalist on this song is their drummer, their bassist also does vocals on this song and a bunch of lead vocals on other and their lead guitarist also does lead vocals, they have 3 separate singers which is one of the things that makes them unique, the drummer is one of the best in the business and their guitar duo is one of the best as well, incredibly talented band

Been around for half a century, myself... Just discovered this song a few days ago, and I have to agree with you on your points.

I absolutely love this song and this entire album. I just subscribed. Would love to see more Mastodon reactions.

@@JON.HOUSE24 Sorry for confusion, those were other bands, not songs:)
@@jonkwape3097 oh gotcha, yeah still ill check them out
Sea of roses? Poppies, I think. Rose is more like a shrub, right? I might be wrong...
think these are poppies too. you can see the poppy pore capsule.
Love your Legend of Zelda shirt1🔥🔥🔥🔥

Love the shirt right off! 10 secs in.
Mastodon is top 3 for me along with Tool and Deftones.
And Brent Hinds, lead, and Brett K, rhythm, are my favorite guitar duo in music right along with Gojira.

Give me a few and I'll let you know the perfect Gojira song to start with! Haha
