Now in its 14th year of growth and iteration, the Reebok Nano X4 has had a ton of hype around its release.
The prior model, the Reebok Nano X3 was a pretty well-rounded training shoe so I was excited to see what the Nano X4 had in store. Being an even-year model, the construction updates in the X4 are more subtle and quality-of-life than massive overhauls.
In my Reebok Nano X4 review, I'll help you decide if this shoe is the right fit for your workout needs.

At the end of the day, the Reebok Nano X4 does feel like an upgraded shoe compared to the Nano X3.
This model's reworked upper and tongue gusset gives it a better fit on the foot and it helps expedite this shoe's break-in period.
I also appreciate that the Lift and Run Chassis system has been decreased so this model feels less bulky on the feet.
I still don't think the Nano X4 will be for "everyone", per se, but for the generalist in the gym - this model does exceptionally well.

Appreciate you, brother! Thank you for checking out the vids/content!
what about hoka kawanna for running/HIIT classes?@@thatfitfriend
@@jeffyeah4256 I haven’t used them/reviewed them so I’m not sure. Don’t want to blow smoke like I have used them.
Can add them to my review list, tho!
I need to stop watching this man's content he keeps making me want to buy more training shoes I don't need yet.
Yes sir.
best review you can find out there! actually testing the product!
Thanks, brah. Inb4 you know whose glorified advert.
I hit gold finding this channel! Great content mate, I saw one review of the PUMA FUSE 3 made by you and instantly read comments and watch other of your rocommendations, you not only give a fair review but also educate on what to look for when it comes for buying a new pair of traning shoes
Appreciate you, friend. I try my best to hit everyone back and give enough depth to help folks make good calls/save money!
Great video Jake, been looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the X4.
Appreciate you checking out the video!
Let’s go! Been waiting for this vid
!!! Appreciate you checking out the review. Shout if you have questions!
Amazing review Jake! Thanks mate!
Thank you for checking it out!
Awesome detailed review. I have owned the X3s for almost 6 months. I love the new X4s colorways and based on your reviews I am quite tempted to upgrading to the x4s. I came from the Metcon 8s. I couldn't walk around with those without having heel discomfort, even when used solely for Gym.I found that with the Nanos I have been able to do short cardio sessions as well as squating and deadlifs at the same time I can wear them to go out casually to the store or run errands without discomfort. The versatility of the Nanos has definitely captured me. I will upgrade soon😅. Those 2 colorways look amazing. I like to look good at the gym. Thanks for the Video cheers
Ayy, you're welcome! Honestly, I wouldn't rush if the Nano X3s are still going strong. More colorways will drop and sales will eventually come for these!
Underrated channel. Best shoe reviewer.
My friend! Appreciate you saying that
Thanks for the review and shoutout to the lady at 6:45 made me triple take.
Thanks for checking the review out. LOL, yooo chill with that.
Awesome video brother! I know you usually do gym shoes. Any comments on running shoes such as the Nike, adidas,Saucony race day shoes
Thank you! I've been LOVING the Adidas Adizero Boston 12s, have a review of them on the channel!
I've been enjoying my X4's so far this past week, which have been a huge improvement over the No Bull trainers I've been wearing the last year. My squats/cleans feel much more stable. Also thankful to have a shoe that I can use for runs during the WODs. The No Bulls were just painful for any short runs.
For sizing, I had to order a half size up for my wide feet - so just a FYI. Had to deal with returning my first pair after trying to order true to size. Otherwise, happy with my purchase.
Stoked you've been enjoying them! And these do fit odd regarding snugness, right? It's funny because their length is virtually similar to the X3s.
I feel like wider feet should just play it safe out of the gate and go up a half-size.
what a great video Jake! I've been looking for a new shoe due to a slight pain in my achiles with supernova 2's. Any advise on the new Adidas Rapidmove ADV? looks interesting
Thank you! How do you train typically?
@@thatfitfriend strength training, focus primarly on explosive & plyometrics exercises for field hockey. Includes traditional strength sets, jumps and a lot of lateral movements
Thanks Jake; I took your recommendation and bought the Nano x2 which worked well for my 2E width feet. If the X4 is getting narrower I might just stock up the last discounted x2s (50 USD) in my local outlet.
I'd stick with what's been working and stock up on some cheap X2s!
Hey Jake, love your reviews!! Do you think you could spare a pair of RAD One's that you could cut in half?! Would love to see that!! Just got my first pair, i really enjoy them but definetly a heavier shoe conpared to my metcons and nanos!
Thank you, friend! And yep - they're on my "to cut" list!
I am so glad you said that the white colorway felt snugger. I got the "panda" color white / black and i got a 9 because thats what i got for nano x3. they did feel snug on the top of the foot, but not necessarily the toe box.
They should break in, but it’s def a little weird at first 😅
Great channel for us training addicts. The best hobby rather than going out and getting drunk then blowing money.
I like the look of these. I still use my Nano X for leg day. I love them out of all other models.
The Xs are sick for lifting. Feel like they feel like skate shoes so I love them for that reason, too
Yes they are amazing. I have both white and black models of the Nano X
My nano x are still kicking strong. I want these X4 but theres no reason for me yet other than getting the "latest" I think I can honestly keep the nano X until they run down to the ground.
@@vincentmamotos9937 I love my Xs. They are the best for doing squats.
Couldn’t click fast enough on this review!
Let's goooo! Means the world.
I feel the x4 is better for cross-training, due to its lively interior TPU plate; and the reign 6 is better for lifting and crossfit.
Am I right Jake?
@@cvayas. That's a good assessment. Low-key they both work well for everything, but their heel-to-toe drop/weight differences will influence which is "better" for athletes depending on preferences.
Out of the box, though, yeah if I had to pick one - the Nano X4 would be a smidge better for cross-training for most, IMO!
Hey dude, great reviews! After watching several of your videos I think I've decided on the x4s but I do all my workouts outside, in the Scottish weather (Cross training). Do you think the durability of these will suffice, especially short runs on a muddy track/burpees in mud etc. Or do you have any other recommendations?
Thank you! I'd actually go with the Nano X3 Adventure. They're built for that type of training/context and you can prob find them on sale!
Honestly I’m kinda pumped for a smaller toe box. I sized down for my x2’s and my foot still slides side to side when I’m doing lateral stuff
Great review, I have flat feet so when you said it's a con, it left me thinking if I should buy these... Do you have videos that suggest shoes with flat feet? Thanks
I have flat feet as well. My last nano pair was the x2 and they were perfect. So idk how they changed that drastically in 2 years.
It really depends on the width of your feet/how much arch bothers you. Commenter above found the Nano X2 to be fine while I know a bunch of others hated them. It varies a ton.
I think opting for options like the Born Primitive Savage 1 and UA TriBase Reign 6 will be better picks out of the gate, but that's not to say the Nano X4 won't work - it's just going to be much more variable based on the community feedback I've received thus far!
in love with my X2's and I'm worried about jumping to X4
IMO...I'd search around for X2s on sale and get another pair. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Then when you can't find X2s anymore, cross that bridge as it comes!
@@thatfitfriend yeahhhh I’ve been trying to find some but they’re so beloved they’re hard to find and regular price if not more then the X4’s
Which would you recommend for HIIT and some lifting. X4 or the new Dropset 3
Currently in Nano X2s which I love for their versatility and durability, but after 1.5 years they’re showing some wear and I was thinking of upgrading. I did feel they’re a smidge wide/slip on the heel (not enough to size up, but enough that I don’t always feel 100% locked down while lifting). By the sounds of your review, I think I might like the X4 fit even better 🤞
Keep me posted, I feel like these will be better for you, too, based on the context provided!
Seems like this shoe fits everything i'm looking for in a primary lifting but can also do short 1-2mile runs comfortably. The only hesitation is you mention it wouldn't be the shoe you would choose if you had flat feet. I do and I wear superfeet inserts. With that in mind, would you think the inserts would make these work for me? Is there another brand I should look at? Another video of yours you can direct me to? Love the content. Thanks!
Hey! I would go with a Nano X2 or X3 if you can find them on sale. A tad more upper volume in them!
hi jake. I have a shoe question. Im asking on this video despite it being a little unrelated but I hope you actually see it. Due to having long femurs and poor-ish ankle mobility I'm wanting to try raised heel squat shoes for powerlifting. Im broke as heck rn though so do you have a recomendation for under 110 usd? Adidas powerlifts seem like the obvious choice but I have mid to wide feet and you said they fit narrow, and also will the eva compress under 400-ish lbs (my squat)? thank you
Go Reebok Lifter PR 1-3. Should be able to find a pair for pretty cheap! Can also explore Adipower IIs and see if you can find any on sale!
I have a flat foot & had to return these.
Arch can be rough for flat feet. Mention that in my sizing/cons section
Hey Jake. Great video. Very informative. Quick question for you: I wear customized orthodics for my shoes because my feet overpronate. I have medium width feet but am worried about the shoes not being the best fit since you mentioned it doesn't work for those with flat feet. Can I wear my customized orthodics with the Nano X4 and be comfortable? Also, some people mention that I should size up. I normally wear size 12 in Brooks, Nike, and Reebok (weightlifter). Will customized orthodics work with Nano X4 for me? Would really appreciate any insight from you and/or the community. Thank you!
I'd give them a try and go through Reebok if you do. They're usually pretty good with returns in the event you need to exchange them.
Also, in your case since you'll be using your own orthotic going to a 12.5 could be a safe call to give you a little more room!
Thanks, man! Keep making the best shoe reviews! Your videos rock!
@@davidcha8261 thank you! Appreciate you checking them out 🤝
Sorry, but just one more question: So I wear orthodics with Brooks and Nike with both shoes sized 12. You're saying go with size 12.5 for Nano X4, or should I go with size 12 using orthodics? Sorry for so many questions... But you're the man!@@thatfitfriend
@@davidcha8261 I feel like 12.5 is a safe bet here. I wear TTS in the X4 but with the inserts I think more room would be safe!
I have heel slip in my X3's. Heel not coming out but doesnt feel stable. You said the X4 are more heel secure but is it significant? How much more secure are the Tyr around the heel? Thanks.
Should be, imo! The tongue gusset, upper, and boot make this shoe a lottttt better there. Not saying it's completely impossible, but should be much better overall for most!
Hi Jake
If you had to pick one from the following shoes which one would be your choice for CrossFit?
Nano x4
Tyr cxt-1
UA reign 6
Metcon 9
Keep doing awesome work 😎
Reign 6, TYR, Nano X4, Metcon 9 is that order!
Thank you!
@@thatfitfriend thank you very much !
Amazing content mate
@@stathisstathis6716 thank you for checking it out!
I need a shoe for Padel Tennis with a wide toe box and some shock absortion. Could the Reebok Nano 2.0 work for Padel Tennis? Or what could you recommend?
Ehhh, the cuts in the forefoot with the exposed can be problematic. I'd look into something like the Reign 6 or Born Primitive Savage 1 (feels similar to Nano 2 and I've used them for A LOT of pickleball)!
@@thatfitfriend The Nano 2.0 is a bit long, is it the same with Born Primi? Half size down?
How would you compare these to Adidas Dropset 2 Trainers? I'm contemplating between them right now and would like to know what you feel are the differences between the two.
Dropset will be much more dialed for lifting. I also like their "flatness" regarding lack of toe spring for lifting and explosive exercises.
Nano X4 will be much more generalist and better for short runs/HIIT/versatility!
@@thatfitfriendThanks for the tips! I already own a pair of Nano X1, which I use for my daily wear. How would the X4s compare in terms of fit and for daily wear?
@@SYH1996 Fine for daily, but will likely feel a smidge snugger in the toe box out of the box. The Nano X1 has a bit more upper volume so they "feel" more spacious until the X4s break in
How are these compared to the Goruck Ballistic Trainers?
Performance wise, Nano X4 is more versatile.
Stability wise, both are comparable.
Fit wise, GORUCK has a more spacious upper and less aggressive arch.
Out of the box my white and gum X4s were quite snug in the toe box and on the first workout I felt some pain after one hour on the outside of one foot. Wondering if I should give it a few more sessions to break in? My X2s in comparison fit super well out of the box. Any thoughts?
They def run narrower than the X2, hot take, I’d return them and grab a pair of X2’s on sale from Amazon etc.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
I’m really between these and the Rad One. Any opinions on which shoe is most like the nano 8. That was one of my favorite shoes ever.
Ehhh, neither will feel like the 8.
IMO, I'd go Born Primitive Savage 1 if you want a Nano 8-esque feel!
@@thatfitfriend thanks for the reply!
The toes feel good for me, but the plastic side supports and lace holes are stabbing me. Very mid slender and uncomfortable. Should I size up?
Could be worth it if it feel unbearable and if those don't work then I'd go with a diff model entirely
Last year I purchased nano x2 at 50% at the end of february. This year there's hardly any X3 available at all, and certainly not at 50%. Do you think there is still a X3 shipment coming in to Europe or has the X3 just sold better than the X2 and they're now sold out?
Great question - and tough to say. I do know the X3 has been one of the highest selling Nanos if not the best. I’m also wondering if they maybe had less made to avoid a huge overflow of inv this yesr
X3's were half off in November 2023.
So what shoe would you recommend for people with flat wide feet? Was looking into buying this, but now I don't know what to get.
Born Primitive Savage 1! Have a review on them!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks! I'll give it a watch
Can u do feel grounds
I have some old Feelgrounds reviews on the channel!
what's your reccomendation for training shoes for flat feet people?
Born Primitive Savage 1 or VIKTOS Core Gym! Have reviews on them :)
do you think Lakai shoes is good for crossfit?
Depends on the model, honestly. Can be okay - but they wouldn't by my first pick if that's a main ask
Any shoes out there similar to Metcon 4?
The most similar fitting shoe I've ever tried is the APL TechLoom Tracer, but I wouldn't recommend them unless you can find them for a steep deal.
Other than that, the Mizuno TS 01 is kinndddd of similar.
really great looking shoes. unfortunately, 7mm heal drop and high stack high so no for me. not like it’s going be a big difference for me because i’m old.
nano x4 140 €
dropset 2 130€
metcon 9 €
i just need it for lifting and gym what your choice
thank you
Dropset!
This was my favorite gym shoe. Sadly they messed you up the x3. I got the same size but the toebox was like an additional inch longer. I dont know how a multi million dollar company messes up a product that badly. Hopefully they corrected it this year.
I think you'll find the Nano X4 to fit more true in that context!
@@thatfitfriend Thats what I’m hoping! I will give it another shot soon
@@blaisebanko3487 keep me posted!
it’s very heavy shoes for doing speed work.
They look cool but way too expensive
Industry norm becoming $150 is rough
Thats the norm. But if you want cheap $70 shoes that wont last and be uncomfortable, go for it. You get what you pay for.
@@blaisebanko3487 buy once, cry once. Learned this the hard way especially with truck mods
Some things are worth the extra money, 150$ for gym shoes aren't one of them
@@Marco-cl9pb to each their own, homie! We all have the stuff we’re willing to spend more on. I feel you

You can expect to pay less because Reebok sales…😂
Big facts, I sleuth for the coupons 😂 it’s never the colorways I want they work for; tho
Which would you recommend for HIIT and some lifting. X4 or the new Dropset 3
Nano X4 will be a smidge better if it's HIIT-style work that you'll typically do in class settings etc. If it's just some HIIT programmed with lifting, then I'd go Dropset 3
