When I started going to the gym seriously almost 2 years ago, my first proper training shoes after research and based on your recommendation was the Nano X3, Which I was very happy with having a wide foot. Specially that I went true to size, didnt try it before hand and purchased it online and was spot on. I have enjoyed it but it was a bit on the heavy side I guess. Then came the Nano X4, which was good in some areas ( heal slip was improved) but the midsole felt more tight. I used it from April 24 to August 24. Thats when I was travelling and tried Nike Free Metcon 6 by chance. It was just released, and historically, I have always sized up in the past with Nike's shoes in general. The Free Metcon 6 was a nice unexpected surprise, made me ditched the Reebok X4, and use the Free Metcon 6 full time for the past 4 months, couldnt be happier. Regardless of my experience. I always love to come back and be up to date with what you have to say, even if I have no plans to purchase any shoes soon. My main focus is cycling, and I am in the gym for strengthning myself to be a better cyclist.. but I couldnt help that I also enjoying the gym and accidently fell in love lol.. Thank you as always for the amazing work, time and effort you put in Jake.
That's rad! Thank you for sharing and coming back to the channel/supporting. Couldn't do it without y'all and I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences. I know it helps others a ton who like to lurk comments like myself!
Yeah, that forefoot is an issue for contexts like that. These feel better in that context, imo! A bit more platform and seemingly better durability, but time will tell on that latter point.
They could be, but I heed caution since PF can be really individual with how it presents and gets aggravated. I'm working through some now on my right foot and these haven't bothered it. Are you doing anything to help it outside of focusing on footwear?
I’ve always love the Nano’s …. I bought the unkwn on BF for $79 plus $15 off when you spend $150 so I bought a black pair and white pair…. More for lifestyle than working out though
Damn I just bought a new pair of Nano X4's 2 months ago because of the new black/blue/green colorway haha these definitely look better, the heel looks less protruding, which is my complaint with the X4's when sprinting and plyometrics, and the cramp toebox
@ yes, hopefully! I guess time to use my nano X4’ to the bone. I’ve only been using them as an alternative to the dropset 3 which are my main shoes haha
Less stable/dense feeling and a little more sporty feeling on the feet. I like jumping more so far in these, for example. The forefoot also feels a bit more spacious in these compared to the normal CXT 2, similar fit to wide. Will have them compared in future videos!
I'm deadlifting in them today! For trainers like this and deadlifts, I like to assess their feasibility from a maximal stability standpoint and performance in WODs/general workouts. If I'm pulling singles, doubles, and triples, then I'll ditch my shoes for mechanics sake, but I still test them for deads because not everyone is going to do that and there are many occasions when athletes will pull in their trainers. All that to say, it's not the biggest deal for stuff that isn't crazy specific and programmed for rec lifters/WODs.
Reebok Nano series had identity crisis since Nano 9s. It's beyond me how you can have a series as good as Nanos and fuck it up by gradual stupid changes. My favourite training shoes were Nano 8s (didn't try any before that) and I could never again make a gym shoe feel this good ever since. They were also one of few shoes that fit me perfectly true to size cos I usually half size up for more toe box space. I recently tried Nano X4 and they bad. Too narrow in the mid, too big of a stack height. Makes me feel off balance all the time while Nano 8s were crazy stable and wide while remaining flexibility.
It's the shift away from CrossFit. For Reebok, it's about getting more people in shoes which makes sense when you consider the design shift. I loved the 8, too, but it was actually a pretty polarizing model that not everyone loved. This is most big companies, though, as they ebb and flow with the market. I feel your frustration.
Jake! I just got an X3 thanks to your review from holiday sales and now you got me hyped for X5. Already got a Rapidmove as well thanks to your recommendation before and tempted to get this one too.
Noooo, hold off! No rush and if anything the X5 will go on sale deeper in Q1/start of summer. No need to spend when you don't need em, just take some mental notes on em.
Better heel for plyo/running, less "snap" and ground feedback when catching cleans. Dropset 3 = better for lifting focus Nano X5 (so far) = feel a bit better for a blend
Jake is the only trustworthy reviewer!! Who actually trains and tests shoes in different verticals. Thanks for another quality video

As always, the best shoe review! Thx Jake!
Ay, good to see you! Thank you
Looks like another quality CF training shoe option. . . nothing that I’m going to jump at, but I’m sure many will and enjoy it.
thanks for sharing your workouts and talking about it more!
I plan to do more as we head into 2025. I miss sharing more coaching:athlete content on here!
Thank you for the feedback!
Can’t believe it’s been almost a year and X4 already gone into history haha!
Right? I'm fairly certain our simulation is speeding up each year.

As a bigger athlete I love the Nike free metcon 6 but the sole construction is crap. How does this stack up?
Yeah, that forefoot is an issue for contexts like that. These feel better in that context, imo! A bit more platform and seemingly better durability, but time will tell on that latter point.
@ look forward to your final results
I need a wider fit. Glad to hear it’s back. I bought a stack of x2 a on sale.
Ohhhh, keen to hear your comparison on these with your X2s
Is it any good for someone with plantar fasciitis? Hats off for another honest review
They could be, but I heed caution since PF can be really individual with how it presents and gets aggravated. I'm working through some now on my right foot and these haven't bothered it.
Are you doing anything to help it outside of focusing on footwear?
Impeccable review
Thanks, Andres!
How are these for deadlifts? The mid foot on X3 and X4 made it harder to grip the ground
Tugging tomorrow so can’t speak to that yet! Will report back, friend!

That's a rad deal and such a classic colorway!
I saw your short cameo at the end of Nick Bare's Hyrox race video haha
@@XRP_NP wait what??? Like a dude that looks like me? If that’s the case, I got that generic Midwest white guy look 😂
@@thatfitfriend maybe just a doppelganger. Did you do the Dallas Hyrox?
Nevermind, I took another look. Wasn't you. Just another fit dude with a mustache.
@ I did not!
Common mistake. You come to the Midwest and you’ll see like 20 of me in every 1- mile vicinity 😂
Thanks for showing those snap down drills. Going to try using those in warm-ups.

Will have them compared in future videos!
@@thatfitfriendcannot wait for that comparison 😊
have you tried squating in them? IF so, how was it?
I just squatted in them in the video...did you watch it or are you commenting without peeping everything..?
I'm on to you buddy.
@@thatfitfriend my bad. im considering these or the dropset 3
I just ordered a pair of x4s oblivious that a new model was coming out… should I cancel the order?
Ehh, if you just placed them and didn't get them on crazy sale/can wait, then I would.
Otherwise, the X4s will be solid for you and no ragrats!
Is it Okay for deadlift? Isn't it bulky? Cause I hate bulky shoes like nobull impact..
I'm deadlifting in them today!

My NANO X2 midsole are crack in half around forefoot(age1.5years). Hope X5 are more durable.
1.5 years is unfortunately pretty good for trainers these days, but impressions so far is these should be.
How do they compare to metcon9??
More versatile so far!
hey jake! rumour is theres a barefoot model coming? have you heard anything like that?
I haven't heard that, but then again, I'm a simpleton who doesn't know much. Wouldn't be shocked, tho. Barefoot shoes, so trendy.
