Jake might be the best reviewer of any product on RUclips. The amount of detail you put in while putting the right products next to each other that consumers (like me) would be choosing between…all incredible
Ayyy! Appreciate that and you checking out the video! Feel like it helps I’ve been doing it for so long and also coach so I get asked by clients often which makes it easy to build comparisons based on what average consumers are looking for!
Really wish Nike would get rid of the plate… I just want a versatile cross trainer from them that doesn’t lack stability. Thanks for the reviews as always!
The biggest diff to me is that the Reebok shoe is a sneaker built to be able to do three different things, while the Nike sneakers feels like it's three different shoes being mashed together. And it just doesn't work.
I just got a few pairs of the Nano X-4s. And I can say without question from my perspective, that so far these are among the best workout shoes that I've ever had! I was coming from the X-3s and the Nike Metcon 9s, and I gotta say for me the X-4s are already a MAJOR improvement and I've only had them for a few days. I can literally feel the difference in my workouts!
I've just gotten the Nano X4 (literally haven't worn it yet!). I had and still have the Metcon 8 and the heels started wearing out on mine very early. I do NO running or cardio stuff in these shoes at all. I basically wear them at the gym which has rubber flooring or occasionally when I walk the dog, and the plastic heel starting wearing way too early.
Hi Jake. Do you have a raised heel shoe suggestion for powerlifting under 100ish dollars? I have wide feet and squat 400 lbs. much appreciate and love your reviews
What is the best CrossFit shoes in your opinion? I already had the Rebook, I didn't like it, it wasn't very durable. I had the Nike, it also didn't last long and I didn't think it was good for CrossFit. So now I have the Nobull, it lasted for many years, great shoes, I just find it not very breathable. Now I need to buy a new one, I wanted one that was more comfortable and breathable than the Nobull. I'm thinking about UA Reign 6 after seeing your reviews.
Hello Jake I have been wanting to replace my old converse with a good pair of training shoes Have narrowed down to 2 pairs. Nike Metcon 9 and nobull trainer Which shoe would you recommend . I am a runner and follow a push pull legs split Sometimes switching to functional training I have a bunch of running shoes and am looking for something more workout specific Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🙏
NOBULL Trainer+ could be a good option to look into! Much better than the Nike models these days for your context since the newer Nike aren't very runnable
The nano are very durable and comfortable (once broken in). I wear everyday casually. But if I want to go for a sprint or the gym. I might buy the adventure version. In case I want to go on a spontaneous trail run or hike. My hypothesis is that they are good for heavy people to bare their weight better also. I wear the same clothes too that I also sleep in. Less stress. I want to be prepared to do anything.
X4s were a fair bit narrower for me, even going up a half size versus the X3. I actually returned them for new X3s because they were a bit uncomfortable.
Depends on your foot anatomy/training. It’s not necessarily that black and white For lifting, for example, the metcon 9 beats the nano X4, and the Dropset outperforms both imo
For me, Reebok models, any nanos, are more versatile. The metcons are better to lpo training but for crosstraining, running and other the tennis is too uncomfortable.
the Nano 14 is way better looking. but unfortunately, it’s 7 mm heel drop. To me, the Hyperlift plate is a dumb gimmick that lowers the performance of the shoes. i don’t know. these days, i only wear minimal shoes because i have enough joint mobility and have a lot of natural feet/lower leg shock absorption that i don’t need i need shock absorbing and stability shoes. the body just does it for me.
Thanks for your detailed review of these two hot training shoes. I’ve subscribed your nice channel!! But I have another question. Which shoes do you recommend for me, I’m a runner and Bodyweight trainer who has flat feet. I’m looking for available shoes to make my workout more efficient. Thanks for your suggestions!
I tried a pair of Nano X4's and they felt way too tight at my midfoot. The weird thing is that I have pretty narrow feet so idk how any person with wider feet can feel comfortable in them
@@thatfitfriend I have metcon 8s and they're great but they're getting a little worn-in. I was interested in the Adidas Dropset 2's but I'm worried they might be too wide for me
Both suck. Metcon 9 is horrible. Sooo stiff and bulky. Absolutely no flexibility. Reebok nano x4 is also stiff and the heel still slips. Nike needs to go back to the Metcon 5.

lowkey was waiting for this one. epic video, Jake. I'll keep saying it. this is as good as a review can get.
My man! Thank you :)

Feeeeel that. There can’t be that many people that love it, right?
I heard the Reebok nano x4 is good
The biggest diff to me is that the Reebok shoe is a sneaker built to be able to do three different things, while the Nike sneakers feels like it's three different shoes being mashed together. And it just doesn't work.
Totally agree!
That’s a great assessment, honestly! Feel like they’ve lost their way and now they’re kind of the master of none
shiet, jake's reviews and your comment might make me buy one Nano X4. damn
I switched to Nano X4 from the Metcon 4 and the X4 is on a whole nother level. My workouts are so much better, and I train only for bodybuilding.
Heck yeah, love hearing that

That's because it juts out and for some folks who have a lot more heel strike it takes a brunt of that impact. Not completely abnormal to here, tbh!
Your reviews are thorough, organized and helpful! Thx 🙏🏽
Glad they're helpful!
Great review !! Is there a higher pronation on the metcon 9 vs Nano x4?
Metcon 9, imo!
Hi Jake. Do you have a raised heel shoe suggestion for powerlifting under 100ish dollars? I have wide feet and squat 400 lbs. much appreciate and love your reviews
Reebok Lifter PR 1/2/3! You can probably find one of those for less than $100!
Ok I was looking at those but It’s good to hear that. Thanks so much

Reign 6 could be a great option to explore. The RAD ONE is also an awesome shoe!
Hello Jake
I have been wanting to replace my old converse with a good pair of training shoes
Have narrowed down to 2 pairs. Nike Metcon 9 and nobull trainer
Which shoe would you recommend . I am a runner and follow a push pull legs split
Sometimes switching to functional training
I have a bunch of running shoes and am looking for something more workout specific

I think the construction of the Reebok is more comfortable, but the arch in the middle of the shoe hurts me. I prefer Nike because it's flatter.
Totally fair!

Yhanks for the amazing review ... Which one do you think is better for a little flat foot ?
Metcon 9 will be better! Thank you for checking it out.
I prefer the metcon 8 over the 9. And the Nano X4 trumps over both the metcons. My rotational crossfit shoes are between the Nano X4 and the metcon 8.
Love it! The 9 is meh for sure
In metcon 9 the rubber on the heel wears out very quickly. After 2 months, there was plastic left around the edges
Yikes - I'd see if you can return and get a new pair. That's way faster than normal, imo. Did you wear a lot for walking on concrete?
What shoe would you recommend for a newer person getting into lifting?
There are so many you can use!
I'd go with a Dropset Trainer 2 if you can find them on sale.
X4s were a fair bit narrower for me, even going up a half size versus the X3. I actually returned them for new X3s because they were a bit uncomfortable.
Feels, it's annoying they keep getting narrower
So Nano x4 < Metcon 9
Metcon 9 < Adidas Dropset 3
Did I get that correct?
Depends on your foot anatomy/training. It’s not necessarily that black and white
For lifting, for example, the metcon 9 beats the nano X4, and the Dropset outperforms both imo
How do UA Tribase reign 6 fair to these 3, strictly in weightlifting. Thanks
Would the Metcon 9 be ok to use for stairmaster after lifting?? Thank you!
Yeah, they'd be fine. Might not be the most comfy, but should be okay here since the impact isn't crazy high
Nano x4 have high quality materials ! And plate laces 👑.
And i hate metcon 9 , hell plastic, round laces and worst materials
Feel you here!
Hey jake whats the best shoe for jump rope?
Nike Air Zoom TR 1 and Free Metcon 6 are pretty sick!
Compare them with project rock shoes
I have project rock 5 and thinking of upgrade or go with metcon 9?
Metcon 9 will feel flatter and denser when lifting!
As on all your videos amazing work the only sad is you subscribers you should be around 1milion .
Ayy, thank you! Haha, all in due time - we just have to keep chugging along :)
How are these regards anatomical fit compared to the Born Primitive Sav 1?
Metcon 9 is closer. Nano X4 will feel snug compared to em.
i wish they made them in a 4E do you know any 4E workout shoes you could recommend ?
What do you wear currently?
For me, Reebok models, any nanos, are more versatile. The metcons are better to lpo training but for crosstraining, running and other the tennis is too uncomfortable.
Feel that!

TYR CXT-1 or Nano x4???
What do you currently train in? Both are solid, tbh!
@@thatfitfriend I have TYR and I’m thinking about nanos.
They should make a freestyle plateless version and a plated one.
Just bought Metcon 9 for $79 compared to Nano X4 listed for $112
@@justindubois8344 not bad!

Inov-8 F-Fly, Altra Solstice XT 2, or Reign 6
Will there be some compare video between the Reebok Nano 4 and the new Reebok Nano Gym? PS. keep up the good work, I really like your video's!
Yeah, I'm reviewing the Gym atm!
I tried a pair of Nano X4's and they felt way too tight at my midfoot. The weird thing is that I have pretty narrow feet so idk how any person with wider feet can feel comfortable in them
They’ve def gone the narrower route. Try born primitive savage 1, metcon 9, nano 2, or Dropset trainer 2b
@@thatfitfriend I have metcon 8s and they're great but they're getting a little worn-in. I was interested in the Adidas Dropset 2's but I'm worried they might be too wide for me

Pushing these weightlifting shoes hard my guy?
Nike rope protection needs to go,,,,way ugly
