"we're either be brave and curious, or fearful and suspicious. im trying to be brave and curious" ... such an amaziingg human being... oh man what am i doing with my life
meh. I think many people figured that about Eddie. Do what you love, you are all that matters. Being a bit socially accepted makes life easier at times, but being yourself is often way more rewarding. Dare to have personality.
There’s nothing brave about dressing up as a woman. Lmao
Our world has become so secure that people think men dressing up like women are “brave”.
@@joshuawarrenyeah3705 What would happen to someone who did that 50-100 years ago in any western country(not to even mention most eastern, middle eastern or African nations)they would be beaten, perhaps even killed by local populous, suffering criminal persecution even, perhaps psychiatric treatment(and I don't mean regular psychotherapy, back then I'm referring to lobotomy and things like electro-shock therapy).Societal norms now in western countries are more accepting of who people are. I'd consider it to be relatively brave.
@@joshuawarrenyeah3705 In the late 80's and 90's?! He was the *FIRST!*
The first A-lister (...B-lister) who crossdressed on stage as an unrelated thing, and broke a lance for tolerance of harmless kookery everywhere. You had to have insane bravery to get on stage like that. Reduced chances at gigs, the crossdressing overshadowing your actual material, verbal abuse and a non-zero chance of some conservative throwing a brick at your head. At the time the DSM and a zealous psychiatrist could technically have gotten him sectioned.
As a colonel of the Joshua forces, I am taking away your Joshua privileges. [strips rank insignia] ...and busting you down to Josh 1st class! You summer child.
I love you for this comment, I had exactly exactly the same reaction to this interview and posted that quote on my FB page while thinking, man, I gotta be more brave and curious...:)
If every politician was as smart as Eddie Izzard, we'd have world peace.
and a nail polish shortage
✅🤞
It'd be difficult to be as SMART as Eddie, but we could try to be as GOOD.
We should be so lucky
as a politician they're an embarrassment. i'm not blaming them. it's just that you need certain specific qualities for it that izzard lacks
I suspect that Izzard's IQ is off the charts.
Mos' def!

U mean below?
Hearing him say “cake” immediately made me think “cake or death?” Lmao!
Same. Dressed to Kill is the best special of any stand up I've seen.

Little red cookbook!!! I can't lie I always go to the Death Star cantina every time I hear his voice!
"so my choices are or death?!"

I have loved Eddie Izzard for years now, and literally every time he does a show or interview it just makes my day cuz he is so delightful and positive. An absolute inspiration.
So so very true!
I wish I could just hug him...hope some of that amazing rubs off on me 🤗
This is Fox news' worste nightmare. A South African host and a trans identity guest discussing running marathons
You need to see the comments on Joe Rogan's podcast
Nope. Fox News points to people, and TV shows like this and uses them as examples to monger fear. This is part of their fear arsenal, not their worst nightmare. Their worst nightmare would be if their audience started to turn against them.
Something wrong with u u need Jesus in ur life racist idiot

Eddie Izzard is an exceptional and a wonderful human. May he live long and prosper 🖖
so is he a man or a women ?
@@deadman-zc5ro He's a man

"Because we are all human." Just cuts through all the anger and division and BS. Bless you Eddie!
Yes, I just love that. So many years I have in certain situations thought: Why women or men, we are just human. One might feel confused for a moment to see a man with make up, but then one just sees this likable and sincere person. Actually, when the camera shows him looking straight at you, you feel almost as if you were in the room with him.
I just want 1% of Eddies' determination. I would be a very different person.
Same, Eddie is one heck of an inspiration
An excess of determination might just cover up some personality disorder.
Not to pick on Eddie in particular.
1%? That would be 4,2 km runs for 27 Days. Possible, and much more than i do now.
@@schneetier8581 Not impossible. And considering that Eddies life surely wasn't easy it might have something to do with it. Some people grow with problems others shrivel. Eddie most likely grew. A lot.
On the other hand - there's a ton of reasons why some people run marathons and others devolve into couch potatoes...
So nice to see two of my favorite comedians, not only knowing each other but having a little bit off history together.
Makes me respect Eddie Izzard even more; he recognized the talent and qualities in Trevor Noah - and decided to help him, lift him.
That is what we need - to see the qualities in each other, and help bring them out and about.
You're an amazing human being Eddie Izzard. John Cleese was right when he referred to you as the Lost Python.
Emperor Nimbala totally!
Yes!
Even when talking about running, Eddie still manages to slip in a history lesson.
This man is simply amazing. More moral backbone than most suit wearing puritans.
Apt
Eddie Izzard is in my opinion one of the greatest comedian out there. Who cares about the way he dresses (I love the self description “executive transvestite”)? He is a great human being and his political message has been consistent for years. I would vote for Eddie any time I had a chance.
I love how he called the political opposition "the other team" naturally humanizing them and bringing in the idea of fair play. A humane genius
I absolutely love his look. He makes (almost) anyone look beyond the make-up, clothes, etc. And listen to the content. And Eddie can *really* make you think of things you've never considered.
I care about how he dresses because he has super fashion sense and always looks amazing. But thats just frosting on his comedy and his awesone personality.

Too bad he can't run for president here.. or maybe a loophole.

"Dress to Kill" turns 20 years old this year. This man has been so ahead of his time. It'd be awesome if he went back to San Francisco and do a 20 year anniversary show
youngchristianrecord yeah just take a cab to the show...of which there are five!
I was just thinking how timeless that show is. Eddie Izzard truly is timeless. The jokes from that show, for example, still work today.
Eddie Izzard's Dressed to Kill was epic, its great to hear him talk politics.
"Dressed to Kill" Thank you! I was trying to think of the name.
It's "Dress to Kill"
My favorite show of my favorite comedian 😍
"You could have died right?"
"Well...technically..."😂
Eddie is an exceptional human being. He is currently (Jan2021) running 31 marathons in 31 days and then after each marathon he does a 1 hour standup performance. this is ALL for charity. It's called a Run for Hope, Make Humanity Great Again. You can see this on his youtube channel everyday as he runs and does interviews via Zoom. Like I said he's incredible. I'd love to have a coffee with him.
Besides the obvious smarts, lips and nails on point. Always loved Eddie, always will.
OMG!!! Two of my favorite comedians on this planet on the same show!!!! They need to do a tour together!!!! Mahalo nui!!!! This has so made my Monday!!!!!!! "Do you have a flag?"
Came here to say exactly that!
Two champions from different generations, who have overcome and smashed pre-conceived ideologies....bring the world together as one.

Can we just have Eddie Izzard as president of the earth, that seems pretty brave and curious to me.

It's always nice to see an interview when the two have admiration for one another and have a real connection.
Eddie, after so long. He is a legend.

I am in awe of Trevor's ability to interview people from all walks of life. Keep up the good work.
I too am amazed at how he can interview an Englishman with a strait face.
@@flowerpink724 While Sara Beth was probably referring to Eddie Izzard's transgenderism (or, "male lesbianism", as Eddie calls it, since Eddie is not gay), rarmonkey, whom is probably being facetious, or perhaps sharing a similar point of view of many fans of Eddie Izzard (that is, his personal tendencies in relationships seem to be unrelated to his ability as a comedian) was jokingly implying you were referring to his Englishness when implying Eddie Izzard is among those from "all walks of life", as in, to say he is abnormal (which would be correct, but most fans were slowly introduced to how he is now so they had time to adjust while never focusing on it because he is a talented comedian, ableit, with a bit too much jam)
@@Kiflaam holy shit, i'ma give people a summary of what you said, seeing as most won't get it: Gender is irrelevant, the message is more important than the messenger, Eddie is more than his act. I think that's about it

Eddie, fortunately, comes from silly walks of life.
I cannot convey in words how much I love and respect and enjoy Eddie Izzard

I love Eddie Izzard! I've been following his story and career for about 25 years now, and he's absolutely timeless! I actually had the opportunity to see him live several years ago, and he's brilliant!!
Saw his standup here in Kuala Lumpur and it was amazing. So much respect for the guy.
I didn't know him before but now i'm a huge fan.....you go Eddie
Ever since I saw Eddie do his HBO special when I was a teenager, been a huge fan. Definitely helped open my eyes about trans people. Made a big difference in my life and many others. Great guy!

I love Eddie so much. The world needs more Eddie.
I love Eddie for being so determined, educated and willing to learn and go beyond
Completely loved Eddie's work for over 20 years, been to several shows & met him at a screening of "The Cat's Meow" (in which he portrayed Charlie Chaplin wonderfully). Saw him perform in Shanghai a couple of years ago, and while he didn't perform in Mandarin(!), he had *clearly* done his homework or done an incredible job of observation, because he was able to throw in references to life in China that expats only really get after several years here.
Beautiful mind, incredible person. Good luck in politics, Eddie.
A true renaissance man, eddie is. He is the link between who we are and who we can be. Truly inspiring.

@Enlightened Perry you can look at reality and go "Oh hell, we're fucked." Then decide am I going to be depressed about it, or am I going to live the crap out of what I have left. The depression you talk about, is a choice. What can you lose by choosing to not be depressed? Don't answer me, answer yourself.
i'm usually shrugging people who mention the word 'marathon' but holy shit, what he's doing (and why) is heroic!
IMO Trevor Noah is the best interviewer. None of the current late night show hosts can match his level comedy + intellectualism. Trevor can think on his feet. This is why he his between the scenes segments are so popular. He has the ability to say, "Ask me anything", and then answer it to a high level of satisfaction.
I also like Colbert. Trevor Noah is brilliant.
You can see Colbert panic when something unexpected happens, which always surprises me and not necessarily in a good way. I don’t hate the guy or anything, it just makes my head tilt puppydog style. Trevor, on the other hand, actively leans into that. Like the between the scenes thing with Anna Kendrick. 🙂

Eddie is an amazing human being. Shows how arbitrary and self imposed most of our perceived limitations are.
Omg, Trevor this is prove enough that you’re one of the most amazing human being in the world, I know Eddie might or it’s already comfortable with who he is, but I can also see how you’re making him feel more comfortable with who he is, especially what you said about the guy in London, Hats off Trevor✊✊✊👍
Awww, I love Eddie Izzard so much!! He is such a legend!! 20 years later and Dress to Kill is still one of my favorite comedy shows. I'm so glad I was able to see him live when he did Force Majeure. His open view of people and the world, plus his love of learning languages, is what helped motivate me to study and work abroad. It's funny because Trevor Noah seems to have that same type of open world insight in his comedy and stories as well. Seeing these two together just made my day.
If you're unfamiliar with Eddie Izzard, I highly suggest watching the "Death Star Canteen" bit or "Cake or Death"... but let's be honest, all of his work is brilliant. Enjoy!!
