Just a perspective from an outside viewpoint, a coding mentality. Maybe the system's coding has something to do with staying "on" in some capacity after the engine is turned off, causing the idle meter to continue for a period of time after being turned off? I don't know anything about diesels, which is what I'm assuming your RAM is since you mentioned "topping off" a fuel additive, but my father-in-law has his process of starting up his 1994 Ford F250 diesel. If there is a preventative or maintenance process of shutting down (similar to my in-law's start-up process) that occurs after the engine is off, this may be a reason for the idle time; or something similar to that effect. If I sound lost, I'll take the heat no problem. Just thought I'd put in two cents from a coding perspective. Might be something worth asking the dealership or Dodge themselves.
I agree, the RAM is the best looking truck out there. Had couple Ford pickups, had 5 GM pickups in a row, then got my 2014 RAM new. Best diesel engine, great looks and interior. Few recalls, but not bothered by them. Truck was in the shop for 2 days to get them done and that's not bad. Lot of us drive the 2500 and it's fine for us. Got the Max Care warranty last week just because I decided to keep my truck until the new HD's come out 2020 model year.
Glad to know the good ole ram is holding up. I expected nothing less. Cummins are great engines. The only problem I hear about with dodge are the transmissions. But it's like, if you build an engine so reliable, the only other major thing that's gonna give you problems is the tranny! Lol. My friends have a 2004 dodge with almost 300k miles on it almost all of it towing in the mountains of the Northwest. Never a transmission or engine problem at all. Ram builds good trucks!
I’m looking to buy a lightly used 2018. I’ve found a transmission shop who will build it really well. So I’m hoping that will be a great addition to the Cummins.
Content. You need more content, why not make a video of changing your own oil? For some people it may be all they need to do it themselves and save some money in the process.
I enjoy watching your channel. As an owner of an 18 Ram 2500 I find your content relevant and informative. I hope all is well and that we'll see you again soon.
I watched all your videos, I took all your advice. Bought exact same truck but bright white. SAP for the win! I deleted mine and it’s night and day difference! Double R Diesel if you are considering it. You won’t be disappointed.
PNWreckage let’s recap. 30K miles the tranny leaked, the blue tooth phone favorites disappear, the rear camera fails when cold and the engine hours appears to be messed up. Hey, it’s your money, if you’re happy with that, truck on and be safe. Well let me honestly tell you I have a 2017 f-350 king ranch fully loaded. I have had ZERO problems. Not one thing has ever failed to work. The car has only been to the dealer to change the oil and rotate the tires. Oh and I tow a 36 foot travel trailer.
If you’re going to change the tire size on your car and it’s not a stock size rim, or tire then yeah you’re gonna throw off your mileage but you can also go with the stock size equipment even with a 20 inch rim and have the computer adjusted and it won’t affect your mileage doing anything leveling. Your car is not gonna affect the mileage. It’s rotations of the wheel.
Junk, Money pit and problems all they are. If have a back up truck and long pockets then this truck will pull a house and comfortable as can be but you will be under and in it or someone will & you’ll pay for it while u drive something else due to EGR/def issues
I have a 18 ram 2500 Cummins laramie crew cab and I’ve owned nothing but ram and they are by far the best pickups on the road. I love the new rams but probably gonna run my 18 to the ground.. my buddy had owned nothing but ford and has had nothing but problems. I’ll always drive a ram till the day I die.. great videos and great looking truck.
Right on. Knowledgeable and very informative man and I appreciate you sharing it. Didn’t have the wallet for new but just picked up a 2015 with 20k on it. Can’t imagine driving anything else
Christian, you have done an outstanding job with your videos. I am also a true advocate of the Ram brand as I now own my fourth Ram HD3500 Laramie dually, truly an awesome machine.I share your passion. Keep up the great work buddy and of course your well delivered sarcasm.
I am a subscriber and enjoy your videos. I really want to buy a 2018 RAM 2500 Diesel 4*4 for towing my boat. I have test driven three RAM 2500 trucks and have found the same problem with each which is a slight slip/clunk in the drive line when on and off the throttle under no load at speeds below 25 MPH. Two of the trucks had a vibration in the chassis between 75-80 MPH. Have you experienced these problems? Thank you.
Welcome back! My 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie Sport had the tranny leak just like yours. Just yesterday I also got a message saying to service electronic brake system. Looks like that has been occurring on rams for a while. Have you noticed that? Your truck looks great leveled with those tires! That's looking like my next upgrade. I'm not thrilled with the stock shocks. They have no travel. It feels like it bottoms out over the smallest bumps. Keep up the vids, they are enjoyable to watch!
So I was wondering if you knew how to turn the traction control off to where I can power break the truck I've turned it off and on and held it down and I cannot figure out how to do it any info would help thank you
This is one of the reasons why when I’m at the dealer “shopping” for a new vehicle I literally climb under the truck and check out all the under housing and the sales guy always asks me WTH you doing and I tell them hey man it is what it is I’m not leaving here with a Truck that has recall shit on it. Furthermore, I prefer manual transmissions because they last forever get much better fuel economy (the way I drive anyway) and require less maintenance over the life of the vehicle.
i want a 2019 ram 2500 6.7l cummins, i don’t know much about diesel, how would this truck do as a daily driver/short trip truck, 6 miles to work and 6 miles back home? and can you do a manual regen on this truck?
I own a 2017 6.7 and no manuel regen. Not bad as a daily driver, but be prepared to empty out your pockets on the maintenance on this bad boy. My 06 5.9 3500 is cheaper to maintain and a dream to work on.
Welcome back sir! I just purchased my 2500 in December and took a lot of advice you gave in you past vids. I will be uploading some quarks that I have noticed with the 2018, you will have to check them out!!
Great vids! A lot of useful and honest info which ultimately put me behind the wheel of a 2018 Laramie mega cab. Glad to hear the sport appearance is holding up well and I'm at ease now. Just hit 1k miles and loving the truck. So does everyone else judging from so many heads turning.😀
Another 5 months on: would you still recommend the HDC in the stock off-road package, or to skip the package all together and buy the 5160/5100s for the rear and use the break. I can't find a single truck I want with the Off-Road package on the lot, so I'm starting to wonder if HDC is really that valuable.
If you can live without the HDC then I would skip it and do exactly what you wrote. I heard there may be a 5160 variant for the rear but can't confirm. Send me pics when you get it
I want to say thank you but that was probably a backhanded compliment, right? Not trying to be a badass, nothing to prove and just really love the truck. No one has come remotely close to guessing what I do for a living. Why does it matter anyway?
Great video. Its very helpful to hear feedback from an actual owner. I am looking to buy my very fist Dodge Ram 2500 , thanks for the video and awsome feed back, thank & keep up the good work, God Bless
When you get the 2500 4x4 BE sure you look at the sticker on the driver side fender showing where to grease the front drive shaft. DO NOT skip this. If you do, when it dries up and malfunctions, it WILL rip out the transfer case and possibly the transmission. It's really hard to find and see. When you do find it, use permanent paint or marker to mark the drive shaft to make it easier next time. It's there. You just gotta find it.
Welcome back. I enjoy your videos. Regarding your back up camera, have you tried to update the Uconnect system. From the Ram website, you can download the update on a flash drive and upload to the truck. It might help. Thanks for the videos.
Locate someone who has HP Tuner and have them tuned your truck. It will fix your speedometer problem and lie~o~meter. It is way better then having a bully dog type modification. It only cost me $300 and I love the extra performance
Welcome back Just picked up a 2017 1500 Laramie Eco Diesel yesterday. Couldn't justify the 2500. Have watched most of your videos and helped us make our decision.
Christian....just got back from your neck of the woods. Portland, Gresham, Astoria, Cannon Beach, McMinnville... Was going to give you a shout but our schedule was too tight. We'll be back up that way to see my family again. Hope all is well with you!!
Good looking truck! Get rid of it before you get to 100k. American modern manufacturing isn't engendered for the long term, I suspect that by the time you hit 80k you will of wished you went with a Tundra.
I had some warranty work on my super duty which took about 2 weeks. Long story, but when I got my truck back I had 20 or so idle hrs magically appear. Could count for some of your time or at least a few hrs.
I saw the new 1500 at the Portland auto show too and I’m on the same beat, I may grow to like it eventually but I still think my 17 2500 is the best looking truck too
Welcome back! I had to take my 2014 2500 6.7 in for the water pump because it blew. Luckily no fire. Got it replaced with the same old style pump and now have to get it checked out again when the new pumps are in. Womp. Keep up the vids!
Absolutly, you helped with my decision. Ordered my 2500 Cummings Laramie the 1st week of January. As of last Friday I now have a frame. Hope to hear that is out of the factory this week.
Upgraded from a 06 3500 single wheel to a great 2017 3500 single wheel because of your channel! Almost got a tradesman until i watched your videos. Proud to say i got a manual lone star with the 8.4nav. Almost got just an 8.4 because i didn’t know until i watched your videos. Glad to see you uploaded again
Welcome back, Christian. I thought I'd say that too like everyone else, but I expect you gloss over those while looking for comments with some content. My 2017 3500 Mega Cummins/Aisin with Ram Boxes is currently at RV dealer having 5th wheel rails installed because RAM would not include the puck package with the Ram Boxes. In order to haul a 5th wheel with the Ram Boxes, I am using the Reese Airborne Sidewinder type pin box on the 5th wheel which locks the pin box into the hitch keeping it from rotating at the hitch. The rotation occurs 22" back and up at the top of the pin box to enable worry free turning with the Ram Boxes. I am in southern CA and drive a lot of freeway miles, but been to Colorado and back twice. I have 21K miles in just over 8 months with zero issues. Agreed this gen of RAM HD trucks are the best looking by far. After nearly a year in the SoCal sun, still no color fading on the Ram Box doors. My truck is granite crystal color like yours. I am still running tire pressure at 70 front, 50 rear to ease ride. Only mods are Bilstien 5100Bs all around. Curious to see how the rear auto leveling handles the new 13K 5th wheel. I can hear the bags air up when bed is loaded. Keep up the great videos, my friend. BTW, any luck on your hunting trip?
Nice to see you back! I picked up a 6.7 2500 with a manual this last fall. I pulled the intake baffle after I watched your video. Did you do the level and tires at the same? I've been looking into those tires too.
+Michael Miranda thanks man! Glad to hear you've been following still. I did the tires after the level, probably a month or two later. It looked a little funny with stock size tires.
Hey how can I send you a picture of my truck? I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN!!! the best I mean it you did help me a lot choose my truck and I am happy I pulled the trigger, love hearing these updates and makes me keep an eye out on a few things also.
Glad you're back Christian! Please keep making vids on this truck. I have same truck in black Pearle. I parked mine for the winter and missing it dearly but picked up a 2nd gen gas that is really clean.
Welcome back. I was on the cusp of unfollowing you and I’m glad I didn’t. I really have enjoyed your past videos and I’m looking forward on what’s to come.
Thank you for all the helpful information in your videos. I’m in the process of ordering a new ram 3500 Laramie and have changed a couple of things on the truck because of your videos. It’s nice hearing opinions from someone that clearly does research and weighs the pros and cons of nearly every option/ upgrade on their truck. Keep up the great work, you have yourself another subscriber.
Thanks for the video. I have a 17 also. Laramie, 2500 mega cab, sport appearance group, off road package with the 6.7, so real similar to yours. I’ve got 30k miles as well, but mine is 7 months old. I had the same issue with the numbers deleting off the favorites. Its not your phone. You can download a free update from uconnect, put it on a thumb drive, and install it yourself. Seemed to have fixed mine. Only other thing is that I have is a clunk in the front suspension that nobody can seem to find, and I did notice yesterday that the rear pinion seal is starting to leak. Other than that, no big issues. What are you getting out of your def tank? I seem to be running about 7 to 8k if I’m not towing a lot.
I hadn't even thought about a manual update so THANK YOU. Nice work on your odometer btw, that is impressive. Off the top of my head I think our DEF consumption is about the same. I'll give the clunk issue some thought.
PNWreckage ...have thicker skin. You are putting yourself out there on YT. You’re going to have a variety of comments. If you enjoy making videos on the truck, then do it. I don’t know about this newer generation when things get tough then quit.
I literally have the exact same truck to the T. Got mine in July 17’ (11K Miles now). So far only had the rear diff trac bar come loose a bit and clunk on braking or accelerating. Finally found it after chasing for a month. Main problem still, is the sloppy shift strategies of the 68RFE. I had a 14’ and thought the 17’ would be a little more refined, but still the same. Pulled the trigger on PPEI’s EZ Lynk delete w/ trans tune. Entirely different truck. Keep posting, fun to watch the same truck experience!
Hey Christian, new subscriber here from Tremonton, UT. Thanks for sharing the great videos! I sent you a private email asking about pricing. Also, I wanted to ask if you could show your window sticker, go over all of the options you went with and also go over some of the features of the truck. ie...the dash / instruments. ..how you toggle through the different features. Does your truck have the air bag rear suspension, we're you able to get the anti spin / limited slip rear axle? I've been working on my own custom order and it doesn't offer that rear end. Do you like the push button start? Please do a specific video detailing the options you went with and how it's all working out. Thank you!
Try this 1) press and release the Uconnect phone button and say "setup, incoming SMS message announcement". 2) the prompt will tell you that it's off, would you like to turn it on. Yes
I have been a Dodge Ram owner since 95. I bought 7 of those trucks. The most recent one was bought in July 2018. At 15,000 miles the back left tire was wearing terribly uneven compared to the rest of the tires. I took it to the dealer and they were no help. Told me to go to a Firestone dealer. I went to 2 Firestone dealers and got the same message..... the dealer will have to warranty this. I contacted Dodge directly and they said......."we don't warranty tires, here is firestone's number, at this time we will be closing this case". I said at this time I will be trading in my 2500 Tradesman and buying a Chevy. I will never again buy from Dodge if that's how they treated me after being brand loyal since 1995 and never bothering them about a single issue. Beware of Firestone tires and Dodge's customer service folks.
Nice truck, I have a 2018 3500 (2020miles) with air ride and I love it. It rides so much nicer than an actual 1Ton. Im glad I don’t fall under the water pump recall but I do under the transmission one. And I’m glad I don’t have to worry about oil changes, I get free oil changes as long as I own my truck from the dealership. And yes, the hour meter will count if you stop if you sit in traffic for long periods.
Does the truck ride the same with the front leveling kit
Better
Welcome back my friend 🙌💯
+AJ Pataialii thank you sir! Glad to be back
Great report! Love the truck, I have the '14 and love mine. Subbed!
What size are the new tires?
Do you plan on deleting the truck or getting emissions tuning

Scary I had fords to and never knew if we would make it home
How about looking at the road while you are driving? Just a crazy idea.
Glad to see your back. Love your channel. My 3500 Tungsten Mega Cab just shipped today, I can’t wait for it to arrive!
Thank you and congratulations on your new truck! Waiting was hard but sooo much fun looking back on it.
Post some videos of it!

You should make a filter/oil change video.. Then shoot the old filters..lol
The cell phone short cut issue is not your device. I got an update on my radio from the dealer and that fixed it

Glad to see shes running great man! Still haven't gotten a new truck, but want to everyday lol
Lol I completely understand
Did you say your happy with that truck ? I have a 2017 F-350 with every extra. 22K miles not one little issue. Not one.
Happy would be an understatement, as I mentioned in the video. I absolutely love this truck.

You should definitely to an update video! How many miles on it now? Any big "off-road" damages, scratches Etc?
Just under 47k and thankfully no!
I absolutely hate the UConnect Fiat uses. It feels slower because the bigger tires mess with the gearing and also mess up your mpg figure.
Agreed on the UConnect... but I did address the bigger tire issues in the video
How are you finding the ride quality of the 2500 for daily driving?
Dude,
What happened to you? Where’d you go.
It’s good to see you back in action man!
+blake dymond thanks man. Good to be back.
LOVE your videos sorry about the Subaru comment but just my opinion
I work at Dick Hannah Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram we have water pumps and can do your S79 recall give us a call!
Hey man, shoot me an email pnwreckage@gmail.com
I had the same problem with my Uconnect and the 5 stored numbers. They updated the Uconnect and so far so good. Its been working for 6 months now.
Any updates bro? Ready to sell it yet?? If so, I'll take it 😉
47k and I hate it as much as the day I bought it 😉

That’s so funny. My 2017 Laramie 3500 does the same thing with the favorites on my phone. Here I thought it was something I was doing wrong.

I saw the new 1500 at the Portland auto show too and I’m on the same beat, I may grow to like it eventually but I still think my 17 2500 is the best looking truck too
+David K glad to hear I'm not alone
What is the exact size tire u rinning looks good
Welcome back! I had to take my 2014 2500 6.7 in for the water pump because it blew. Luckily no fire. Got it replaced with the same old style pump and now have to get it checked out again when the new pumps are in. Womp. Keep up the vids!
+Bob Thanks Bob! Glad you avoided catastrophe but that sucks to have to do twice.
Absolutly, you helped with my decision. Ordered my 2500 Cummings Laramie the 1st week of January. As of last Friday I now have a frame. Hope to hear that is out of the factory this week.
+Ken Seneca hell yeah! So exciting to see that progress.
Great to hear man. Appreciate the feedback and congrats on your truck!
Great post and thank you for sharing! I appreciate the welcome back comment. No luck hunting but next year!
If you're a slow driver the computer thinks its' idling
+David Diaz hell yeah man! I am ecstatic every time I hear that I helped. Congratulations and send those to PNWreckage@gmail.com
Glad you're back Christian! Please keep making vids on this truck. I have same truck in black Pearle. I parked mine for the winter and missing it dearly but picked up a 2nd gen gas that is really clean.
Thanks man! I will. Special place in my heart for 2nd gens.
About time! Welcome back! I just hit 65k on my 2016. No complaints here as well.
Haha thanks man and great to hear!
Welcome back. I was on the cusp of unfollowing you and I’m glad I didn’t. I really have enjoyed your past videos and I’m looking forward on what’s to come.
Totally fair and I'm glad you hung around. Sorry for the extended downtime and thank you for the support.
Thanks man and glad you're here. I really appreciate that and am very happy these have helped with your process. Send me pics when you get your truck!
The price of this truck, you should t have an issue for 200k miles. Typical Dodge. I’ll pass.
42k and nothing new if it helps change your mind
How is the inside? and squeaks or rattles, My GM has many plastic on plastic squeaks, door rattles and so on.
52k on the clock and no interior squeaks or rattles. I'm blown away
Welcome back, man. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. My damn truck does the something with my contacts too. I've given up on it
+vic olvera I'm manually updating the UConnect system and will let you know if it helps
Good to see you back, your videos helped me in picking my 2017 Ram 3500. I got Black though. Love my truck. Thank you
+Joseph Redmond hell yeah man.
White ones are the Best LOL
Love the video, I agree on the new rams I don’t like it either
I assume you guys are not using an iPhone?
Accurate
@@PNWreckage update on the clunk issue. It was the track bar.
Was it loose?
With the phone contact if there is another phone on the trucks Bluetooth it will wipe out when switching phones. Mine will do that too, hate that
THAT is the reason! Damn that is annoying.
Why only 30k on original tires?
When will the next update be??? Been 7 months...
Trying to get a nice round number, like 45k. Only about 2k away! In all seriousness the hate got to be a bit. Sorry that has reflected in my channel.
Its all good man. I enjoy your videos.
I really appreciate the support
PNWreckage ...have thicker skin. You are putting yourself out there on YT. You’re going to have a variety of comments. If you enjoy making videos on the truck, then do it. I don’t know about this newer generation when things get tough then quit.
You're not wrong
What happened to this guy? Where’s the videos. I enjoyed updates on the pickup
50k update within the next month
So how does it ride with the level and bigger tires. Better then stock?
Definitely. This thing is a road trip champion now
What size are those tires?
285/65R20
How do you like the transmission? How durable is it? And how smootg does it shift?
42k and super smooth, no issues
So, would you buy this truck again today knowing what you have been through?
Yes, 100% yes.
Me watching this video and realized that he has already 10k subs
Never thought it would even get to 100
I literally have the exact same truck to the T.
But what color are your 4x4 off road stickers? 🍻
PNWreckage haha, they’re long gone; as well as the rest of the badges!
Thank you!
I want a Cummins so bad!
Here we go... The Butt Dyno....not all it's cracked up to be. You're welcome. 😁
+Orren G lmaooo
+Orren G now it feels official
The reason the idle time goes fast is because when the engine is shut off but the ignition say ‘on’ it’s Counting your idle time
Ive got the same issue with my truck not remembering saved numbers. I’m using an iPhone 8
have found your videos very helpful with my new 2017
Thanks for the feedback Kevin. Very glad to hear it.
How is the towing with the larger tires?
No noticable difference
It does count idle time in traffic as idle time on the hours tracker
+Kyle Radunz That's unfortunate. Can you explain more about how you know for sure?
How much did the mileage go down when you added the leveling kit?
The leveling kit made maybe 0.5 mpg difference. The bigger tires though..
Good to see you back. Looking forward to more of your posts.
+knightwing4 thank you, good to be back.
Where this guy go?
Lurking
Good to see your back at it! The truck looks bad-ass! How is the leveling kit and shocks holding up?
+Manuel Gonzalez Never ridden better! I'm in love man
+Manuel Gonzalez also thank you!
how did you get your text messages to announce like that?
Which head unit do you have?
PNWreckage the same one you have. I have a 2014 Limited with the 8.4
Try this 1) press and release the Uconnect phone button and say "setup, incoming SMS message announcement". 2) the prompt will tell you that it's off, would you like to turn it on. Yes
Awesome to see you back mate. Awesome vids keep them coming.
All the way from the land down under. Lol
Thanks mate! I will lol
I have been a Dodge Ram owner since 95. I bought 7 of those trucks.
The most recent one was bought in July 2018. At 15,000 miles the back
left tire was wearing terribly uneven compared to the rest of the tires.
I took it to the dealer and they were no help. Told me to go to a
Firestone dealer. I went to 2 Firestone dealers and got the same
message..... the dealer will have to warranty this. I contacted Dodge
directly and they said......."we don't warranty tires, here is
firestone's number, at this time we will be closing this case". I said
at this time I will be trading in my 2500 Tradesman and buying a Chevy.
I will never again buy from Dodge if that's how they treated me after
being brand loyal since 1995 and never bothering them about a single
issue. Beware of Firestone tires and Dodge's customer service folks.
These videos make me want a new truck.. lol
Lol sorry about that
Nice truck, I have a 2018 3500 (2020miles) with air ride and I love it.
