There is a new version that this *might* be fixed, but use Sigil for that. It is also FOSS and cross platform. Look at my channel WritingDoneRight to see how you might do that.
You did mention metadata editing but you didn't mention one of the most important Calibre features, the ability to automatically update metadata from Amazon, Google and/ or other sources. You can update the metadata, the covers or both of them. And it provides review of downloaded metadata because if the original metadata do not include the isbn number, Calibre may download the wrong book details. A lifesaving for large libraries, it deserves a video itself.
I love Calibre, thanx for this bid it helped me out with a few hints and tips, could you do a vid on eReaders please as I'd like to move away from my Kindle device and I'd like to know what are the better options out there, like what formats they can read and screen size, batt life etc keep up the good work
When I read that Calibre can convert PDFs to ePubs, I decided to check it out (that’s why I’m here). I wonder what the conversion quality is like. Worth noting Calibre is available as a Flatpak.
Hello, I have 2 questions. 1) i have a lot of ebooks on my kindle via Calibre, is it possibile to see it in kindle app? 2) In Calibre there is a description of the book, where i can see and read the description (trailer) of the book on my kindle? Thanks
I stopped using Kindle a while back, so I am not sure where features are in Kindle. I know there is supposedly good connectivity, but as for how to manage them through calibre / Kindle, I am not sure. Sorry
They are carded on RUclips. If I think of it when I have a minute I will drop them into the description....I should be doing that for the bitchute people anyway
For a FAR more limited selection of well formatted Project Gutenberg books you can check here: standardebooks.org/ebooks/ I also had an Australian site financially supported by some Aussie millionaire but I just can't seem to find it in my bookmarks. This one is better anyways, but still, I don't think they had 100% the same coverage so that's a minus.
@@SwitchedtoLinux When I open Calibre its says 0 books, last night there was over 3,000 books. My eBook library is safe on an external hard drive. I guess I could load the books again but I'm going to try another eBook manager.

Thank you, Tom. I have used Calibre for many years to convert formats but that's about it.

Is there a way to change the color of the calibre manager? I cant stand the blinding white background >.>
I do prefer paper books but I’m severely sight impaired so they’re not easy for me to read so I have to have the ebook version.

@@SwitchedtoLinux ok thanks 😁
Does it work with pdf files? or is it only for epubs
Great video (so far, still watching). Can you put the two links to the public domain ebooks you talked about?

I like to use this ebook application, but its installation is over 1 gb...
I wonder why...
It is because it installs the full webserver to use a book distribution platform.
@@SwitchedtoLinux I understand now... Interesting... I wish they could make it little bit smaller since I use too many apps...
On your live stream you mentioned MX19 but I see here you're using Mint.
We were going to look at the new MX linux release, too, but we ran out of time.

You can run it on an always on server such as on a NAS

Calibre will delete your entire library, it happened today for the 2nd time. I'm done with Calibre.
I have never experienced that on any of the many installs I have used.
Did it delete the files or just the xml file get deleted?
